Story Magic is a very powerful thing in Thrae. Without magic Thrae would be barren lands. Magic isn't very well known anymore but to those who can use it it is very useful. Magic was once known by all. It was used as a tool in day-to-day activities and work.
In the times of old, Thrae was brought into war. An evil army swore to destroy magic and those who have the ability to use it. This army was known as the Dark Army. The Dark Army came from the lands south of Thrae. The large amry travelled through the Gates of Moatai unscathed.
They marched through the lands, destroying everything in their path. The Dwarves were outnumbered and were forced to retreat underground. The Centaurs fought along side the humans until their numbers were greatly decreased and they retreated farther to the north. Some Centaur clans crossed the ocean to never be seen again. Humans suffered the most losses but they continued to fight.
Before anyone could notice, the war ended. Legends say it was the hero who found the Pool. The Pool is a sacred pond hidden somewhere in Thrae. It's sacred waters are said to give any man the strength and courage to defeat any enemy. These waters are called, Liquid Courage.
Liquid Courage was created by the First Mage, Polan. The First Mage was the most powerful man in history. He defended Thrae with his power and abilities. Polan was afrain that once he died, Thrae would be without a protector so he created the Pool of Liquid Courage. He told his dearest friend, Jask Alka, about the Pool and where to find it. Jask vowed to only reveal the secret tp his first born child and they would do the same and so on. The Alka family became known as the Keepers of Courage.
Throughout time the Keepers of Courage protected the Pool and vowed to never drink its sacred waters. If the time arose, they would or await a hero to come and drink the waters.
During the war with the Dark Army, Gerik Alka drank the waters. By doing so, he saved the land of Thrae. Gerik was not meant to drink the waters, after the Dark Army was destroyed, he died of unknown causes. The Keepers of Courage still live.
In the present day, the only member of the Alka family live in the capital, Arinis. Scouts have been sending messages of strange creatures roaming the lands north of the Uyertan Mountains and have taken control of the forest and pushed the elves out. Rumors are going around, saying that the strage creatures are the new Dark Army.
The Keeper of Courage has disappeared. Some say they went to the Pool of Courage to protect the waters and await the arrival of the hero.

Rules and Regulations. arrow And the number one rules is.....Be L.i.t.e.r.a.te! This, to me, means two or three paragraphs in small writing per post. I don't care if you're blocked! Go on about the sky, for all I care, just give.me.writing! Get into details, emotions, appearances. It's all easy once you get into the flow of writing. A paragraph is five or more sentences, in case you didn't know. I want proper grammar, good spelling (meaning great except for typos) and all-around good writing. I have the right to kick you out if I find your writing unsatisfactory. I'm looking for somewhere between Literate to Advanced...although personally, I'm literate.
arrow Please use small writing. It's just more attractive, and it doesn't make it seem as if the people with big writing are writing more than the ones with small writing even if they aren't.
arrow This is a long-term Guild, hopefully one that will go on for a very, very long time. Meaning that by applying, you're promising that you'll stay until the end of the Fairy Tale Realm. If you absolutely HAVE to leave, PM me and then kill off your character in a fashionable way. We'll find some sort of replacement, I suppose.
arrow No godmoding. Just...don't. If you godmode once, I PM you. Twice, you're out, no questions asked.
arrow Be a nice person OOC. No racial discriminations, sexuality remarks or cruel comments in general. Actually, keep that out of the roleplay as well. I don't care if your character thinks like that- it just is not tolerated.
arrow All questions and comments are either put on the OOC thread or PMed to me. Do NOT post here unless roleplaying. OOC notes are fine within roleplay posts, however.
arrow All profiles are placed in the 'Profiles' Thread. At the beginning of your applications, tell us which Roleplay you're applying for.
arrow No chatspeak, spam, 1337 or whatever the hell else that goes against the rule 'literate'. Really, I shouldn't even have to put this.
arrow Swearing is perfectly okay as long as it's used in moderation. No: "What the ******** hell is that s**t-assed b***h doing in this piss-hole?!". That's just...wrong on so many levels.
arrow Romance is encouraged, if you didn't get that already. Kissing, cuddling, snuggling, making out- anythings fine as long as the clothes're on. Most people don't want to read your cybering, so take it somewhere else.
arrow Violence? Bah. I don't care. Torture is a no-no unless it's toned down (torture...fairytale...how do those fit, anyways?), but be as bloody as you want. Within restraints of 15A. ninja
arrow Keep your characters original, and make sure they're different enough from the others. We don't want four quiet guys and four flirty girls, now do we? Also, keep Mary-sue-isness out, thanks. Give me twists and spins!
arrow For now, the maximum is one character per person [per roleplay]. This may change eventually, but for now one apiece sounds good.

The Land Thrae is a land of magic and mystery. In the north of the land there lies the mighy vast plains of Mard. The plains cover hundreds of leagues, stretching over the northern part of the continent. The Centaurs live here in their clans. The largest city in these plains is on the northern edge. The city is the port city of Kinta.
To the west lies the swamp lands, Tora. Tora covers on the west coast of Thrae. It starts at the end of Mard and travels down into the mountains of the unknown south. Tora isn't your regular swamp, it is a magical place. Legends say that new races and creatures are born here. There is another legend that says the Pool of Courage resides near the center where it is protected by the ancient beasts that still live there.
The capital of Thrae, Arinis, is in the east. The large city is surrounded by many smaller cities and villages. The castle lies in the center where the king lives as well as the Keeper of Courage. Humans are the most common race in the capital, there are others but mostly human. Some of the best farm land is close to the capital.
The south. Not much is known of the lands in the south. All that is known that there is a large mountain range, Uyertan Mountains. The peaks of the mountains have never been seen by men. The air gets to thin for any creature to breath, the farther you go vertically. There is a single pass that leads through the mountains. The pass was named The Gates Moatai by the priests of Thrae after the goddes who gave Polan magic.
In the center of Thrae is a smaller mountain range, The Claw. These mountains are much smaller than the Uyertan mountains. They are possible to climb and are surrounded by many valleys. In those valeys are small farming villages. The dwarves live in tunnels under these mountains and even in the mountains. Hosca is the tallest mountain in The Claw. The Dwarves have dug many tunnels and have cities inside the mountain.
On the south eastern edge of Thrae. Just north of the Uyertan Mountains is a forest that stretches long the coast. This forest is known as Sor'Vilka. Before the elves settled in the forest it used to be known as Ingar. Recently, the elves were forced out by strange creatures that came through the Gates of Moatai.

Inhabitants Humans live just about everywhere. The humans tend to stay close to the capital. Humans aren't very special, they don't have any special abilities and aren't as strong os the elves or the dwarves and they are not even close to matching the speed of the Centaurs.
Centaurs. The mighty horse-men rule the plains of Mard. The centaurs like to stay on the move so there is very few permanent settlements. The main centaur city is the port city of Kinta. Centaurs are half man, half horse. It took them centuries to get accepted in Thrae and now rule Mard. The Centaurs are the fastest of the dominant races.
Dwarves inhabit the land underneath The Claw. They seldomly emerge from the rocky depths and prefer it that way. They have a trade city on the edge of the mountains. The city is named Borsa. Dwarves are the shortest and strongest of the dominant races. The like to stay close to The Claw and Borsa.
Elves lived in the forest and are fairly new to Thrae. They came fifteen years ago, two hundred years after the Dark Army was defeated. The elves came across the ocean and settled in the forest. Now they live in the valleys of The Claw because they were forced away from their homes by the strange creatures. The elves are a unique race. They are very slim and plae skinned. Their hair is kept long and is usually light colors. Elves are very agile and there speed is close to that of the Centaur's. Their strength is far greater than a human's but they cannot match the strength of dwarves.
The Dark Army: There are many different kinds of creatures that make up the Dark Army. These creatures can only be found in the lands south of the Uyertan mountains and now the forest south of Arinis, Sor'Vlika.
Orcs: These green-skinned brutes look like humans from afar. Up close they are much taller and bulkier than humans. some have teeth that prtrude from their mouths like enormous fangs. Orcs make up a fair amount of the Dark Army, yet very few have passed through the Gates of Moatai.
Goblins: These creatures, like the orcs, have green skin but sometimes they have the same colors as humans. Goblins are rather small and annoying. They are usually put out in front of the army and make up most of the population of Sor'Vilka.
Golems: Golems live in the mountains and are literally rock-people. They are fairly tall and bulky. Their strength surpasses that of elves and dwarves. Their speed, however, can hardly compare to a human's.
Humans: Yes, humans inhabbit a small part of the lands south of the Uyertan mountains. They are a dying race. To protect them selves, these humans joined the Dark Army.

Pronunciation Guide I thought this could be useful.
Moatai ~ Moe-a-tai [tai rhymes with pie] Polan ~ Pole-anne Alka ~ All-kuh Arinis ~ Air-in-iz Thrae ~ Thray Sor'Vilka ~ Sore-Vill-kuh Hosca ~ Hoss-kuh Borsa ~ Boar-suh Uyertan ~ You-er-ten
You don't have to pronounce them like that. I do and I thought this would make things easier.

Stuff you may want to know. About magic: Magic isn't known by very many people. All of the characters that up there excluding made-ups know magic. Some know more than others. I will have more explanations in here very soon.
Elf Queen knows advanced magic. Keeper of Courage knows the most. The Hero is adept in magic. The Dwarf King knows very little. The High Priestess knows healing magic and other magic that is used to help others. The Centaur Chieftan knows very little.
Is there a language for magic? Yes. I have chosen Latin to be the language of magic. I know a lot of people don't know the language that is why I am providing you with a translator. I know it won't be perfect but keep the lines simple and you'll be fine. You can find it here.
More to come.
