 Volt was totally and completely independent because he was that cool, and he was just that much of a lion! That was exactly what he had told himself when he'd managed to wander away from home (though he didn't know it, it was neither too far nor out of the watchful eyes of his aunts), and what he told himself as he picked through the unfamiliar, untrodden grass that towered above him. He wasn't frightened, but rather on an excited high for having accomplished his break-free mission. Now it was time to explore, and it was going to be the best fun ever! The cub went from his tentative, hushed steps now into a gallop. "Ya-ay!"

 It wasn't hard at all for Zeikyu to disappear from his family... He had five aunts, three uncles and uncountable cousins ALL living in the same den! It was hard enough just to get attention some days! He had slipped out from the cover of his mother's watchful eye (his father was so infatuated with his mother that it was easy for him to get away) and darted off into the tall grass, hiding behind rocks here and there. Too bad it hadn't been nightfall when he wanted to slip away, he would have gotten away eaven easier!! Without the constant squeeking of his grandmother Aine's watch mice to bug him, Zeikyu was completely absorbed in his thoughts and surroundings. It was when he had been watching a patch of grass (it had caught his eye because it seemed a little more green and wavy then the other grass), that he saw it move defiantly to the ground and a cub emerge. He was so amazed at seeing someone other then family that he ran towards him, laughing to himself.

"Whoa! Who.are.you!? Whatre.you.doing.here?" Tybolt reared back in surprise as the head came toward him, instinctively ducking to the ground. Just as quickly though, his head popped up, ears up and moving. "Are you one of those bad sorts?" It seemed like he was always hearing about them. "No way! You're not the reason they won't let me leave! Not fair!"
The cub decided immediately that the bad sorts were a hundred different cubs waiting right outside his den just to play with him. That was just like adults, wasn't it? He stood now, keenly watching the other cub to try to decide the best method to go about playing.

"I'm Zeikyu!" He proudly pushed out his chest and tried to stand as regally as a cub could, which in fact wasn't much at all as he seemed to wobble a little. "And I snuck out of my den 'cuz I was tired of being couped up with all my family.." He said with an exasperated sigh. Pausing for a moment to take in the cub's actions, Zeikyu merely raised a brow at his strange antics. "Bad sorts? I dunno what a bad sort is, but I can tell you I ain't bad in any way 'sides sneaking out every once in a while..." He grinned at that and let his tail flick back and forth.
"Why're you duckin' like that? Whatcha scared of?" Lowering his head to the ground like the cub had, Zeikyu looked out of the corner of his eye, "I don't see nothin' scary down here..."

Volt sneezed in amusement, too young to get offended at the other statements, then made a face that said he was sssoooo displeased. "You must know! Just like how them family people keep you all cooped up and stuff and say don't do this, and don't do that, and don't ever go too far 'cause... there are bad sorts." He squinted his eyes to try to show the winks his aunts would share with one another at that point.
He stood straight too, but puffing out his chest, then letting that breath go with "pfff". Couldn't talk and do that at the same time. "They say always be so, so careful and stuff, but I'm not scared! My name's Volt, and I'm super strong and tough. I can do anything!"
Then, to prove his point, he started to bound forward. "Like not stay home! What should we do?"
Fact was, he was really happy to have someone who could help him figure out what was worthwhile to do out and about.

"Ooooh! I get it! Yeah my mam and pap told me I should watch out for bad stuff like... strangers? What's a stranger? Anyways... they told me to always stay close to home and don't go no where without someone! Well... Here you are so I'm not alone!" He grinned and dashed off after the cream cub, their coat colors exact opposites.
"So what's youre name?" Zeikyu asked as he pawed at his new friend playfully. "I don't know any other kids 'cept my coz'es. Whatcha like to do?" He was wide eyed but grinned at the same time. Meeting this new cub had ben the highlight of the day!

He wasn't alone because now he was there? Oh, how clever! What a perfect way to get around his family's worrying over everything.
"Volt, my name is Volt. I only know my sister. We like to hit things at one another, and I like to climb things, and explore, and zap things and play tag and hide and seek and... Everything!" Once he got onto the subject, Volt couldn't think of anything he didn't like doing. "Well, except for all the stuff an self-speckled lion doesn't like." Whatever self-respecting meant anyway. "What about you?"
He was filled with energy, and now turned around to do something of which he just said. He thwacked a pebble toward the other cub, then bounded several steps away, tail waving a challenge.
