The American Conservative Union keeps tabs on select congressional votes and uses them as a benchmark to calculate a conservative rating for members of congress each year.
But, just because it's reserved for Congress doesn't mean you can't join in the fun. Each year they print out a list of votes and descriptions of their votes. Figuring out your own ACU rating is easy. All you have to do is whip out your calculator. Read through the votes and decide how you would have voted. If your vote agrees with the ACU position, add one on the calculator. If not, do nothing. At the end, divide by the total number of votes (usually 25), and eureka, you have your ACU rating for the selected year.
