Revi let out a small huff as she flipped backwards and landed on her hands nimbly. Her wavy brown locks of hair flopped forward slightly as a few strands stuck to her face loosely. She then lsowly leaned her body backwards and rolled back onto her feet with a somewhat triumphant look on her face. Revi had finally managed to find herself to the fabled (at least, in her mind it was fabled) courtyard and had quickly figured out a good time to practice her acrobatics. It was about time for lunch and most of the other patients (obviously not including the nocturnal ones) were cramming themselves into the filthy cafeteria or out trying to scavenge real food. Of course, there was still a decent amount of other patients out in the courtyard with her. Some were milling about aimlessly, and some were chatting excitedly with others like high school students while others were hiding in the shadows, simply trying to enjoy the... somewhat fresh air and mild weather.

Luckily for Revi, not many paid any attention to her antics. However, some would look over in her direction and watch for a few seconds before continuing doing whatever it was they were doing... but there had been a few people that had flat out stopped and stared at her. Of course it may not had been the best decision to practice out in the middle of the courtyard, but this was the only spot where she had plenty of room! Revi didn't want to land too close - she wouldn't land on someone, oh no, she wouldn't make a fool of herself by miscalculating a jump - to someone creepy and happen to start a fight. No no, that would only ruin her mood.

Taking in a deep breath, Revi ran forward, her long legs stretching out before her in a creamy blur, and launched herself into a series of front flips. Without even stopping or hesitating, she quickly threw her body backwards and flew through the air as if she were still in her performance troupe.

One of the first things Lutwidge had done when he was new all those years ago was to find the one green space available in the Asylum. It had been his haven when he was younger, and it was still a very meaningful place for him. However, he had come to know and accept that it wasn't a private place by any means, and while he never went out of the way to show it to anybody, he was never surprised to see new people there. Today, though, a very surprising person had found the courtyard. He'd never seen her before, and, judging from the looks on the faces of the courtyard regulars, none of them had either. She wasn't eating lunch or relaxing- she was doing gymnastics. Rather well, too. And she certainly was easy on the eyes. Abandoning his plans to go forage for crayons after finishing lunch, he sat down on the ground with his sandwich and watched her. He was sure she wouldn't mind an audience- after all, she was performing in a pretty public space. And from the look of it, she'd been doing this for years. This probably wasn't something she'd just been practicing alone in her house.

As soon as she landed, the pink-haired teenager rose to his feet and applauded. He clapped enthusiastically- she was great! "Cool show!" he shouted, smiling widely and hoping that she wouldn't understand him as sarcastic. For the first time in a very long time, he'd genuinely enjoyed a spectacle. This wasn't like when the mutants or otherkinds were forced to use their powers- this was just an acrobat having fun.

She landed neatly with her arms out to her sides in order to balance herself and Revi prepared to do another series of back flips when she was was caught off guard by the sound of applause. It had been awhile since she had been startled by someone during practice - typically, only her Leader had ever been able to sneak up on her - but it had been quite sometime since she had last practiced. Perhaps she had been... just too into it or something of the sort? She twirled around on her heel to face the owner of the voice that had just complimented her little... performance. Yes, she certainly hadn't noticed the shock of pink hair that had stopped to watch her. She needed to pay more attention --

But she was in a good mood today! Or at least for now. Sure, she was making herself stand out - although, she wouldn't normally consider this a bad thing, but it was the Asylum after all - and suuuure... she wasn't practicing in lush green grass, but hey! The grass was somewhat green here.

But that wasn't her Leader applauding her. It wasn't his praise that she was hearing.

Revi quickly cleared away her downward spiraling thoughts and boldly made her way to the... rather androgynous looking character. She walked with her usual graceful swagger; today was certainly a good day. There was no string of curses or fist clenching or heel grinding or angry stomping or even --

She suddenly leaped forward to bridge the gap and landed in front of the person in one swift motion. Straightening out her back, Revi jutted her hip out to one side and placed her hand on it in her usual carefree way. She tilted her chin slightly upwards in order to make eye contact (was everyone at the Asylum taller than her and her four inch heels?) and gave the boy a bright smile.

"Hm, you really think so? Thanks~ Didn't think anyone was really payin' attention or anythin', y'know?"

"Yeah, really!" Lutwidge shook his head earnestly. "A lot of people just keep their heads down around here. I don't. It would keep me from seeing all the really neat stuff people can do." Lutwidge looked the gymnast up and down. She had interesting clothes and softly feathered ears. He got a sense that if she was an experiment, she was one of the lucky ones- perhaps one of the very few who could get beneath the doctors' notice. She was petite- almost wiry. He wondered how long she'd been here... and how she got here. But those weren't the kind of questions you asked somebody you'd just met. Not here. "Where'd you learn how to do that?" he asked instead, genuinely interested. "Here?"

She gave the boy a cheery laugh, one hand flying up to cover her mouth, "Not afraid of being noticed, huh? Stickin' your head out like that? That's cool! Curious fellow, aren'tcha?" She leaned back on her heels and took in the boy's appearance, making sure she'd remember his face for future reference. From far away, she would have possibly mistaken him for a very tall, thin girl... with a very interesting hair color. There were certainly a lot of colorful patients at the Asylum... then again, she was in no position to say such a thing. Her eyes darted over his face, taking in the color of his eyes and the strange markings under his eyes. He had a rather young looking face and it depressed the girl to think that kids of all ages were being tossed into the Asylum. He had on a strange shirt that made Revi tilt her head slightly as she read the front of it. 'Alice is dead'? Was that some sort of band? She had never really understood pop culture anyway.

Revi picked up the long, fluffy tail extension and began to stroke it lovingly, smoothing out any stray tufts of fur. She let out a soft sigh and shook her head as a small smile graced her lips,
"Nah. I learned from my Leader and troupe mates. Used 'ta be in a performing group, yeah? Fun stuff. Practiced for years, so why stop practicing just 'cause I'm in this hellhole, y'know?"

"Ahh. Shoulda figured- I mean, I've been here five years. If there was anybody who could do that here- I probably would have noticed 'em by now. Curious is me to a t, y'see," he said, not meaning to rhyme. "But don't get me wrong- I know when it isn't safe to stick my head out. Like around the doctors. But don't worry- they never come out here. This is probably the best practice space for you. I do hope you're gonna keep practicing." Lutwidge smiled widely, hoping he came across as friendly and not creepy. It wasn't often that he got to talk with somebody as open as this girl seemed to be. She didn't seem to be broken by the place- she had what he figured as a fighting spirit. She didn't look any older than he was, though he really couldn't tell with the non-humans. "Who knows, maybe you'll get to be back with your troupe some day!" He watched as she played with the fluffy tail-thing that had shone in the weak sunlight. Man, that looked soft. Like a kitten or something. He resisted the urge to touch it. "I'm Lutwidge, by the way. Lutwidge Burr. 'S nice to meet you."

Her eyebrows shot up past her fringe of brown hair as her lips parted into a small 'o' shape at the boy's statement. "F-five years?" How could he say such a thing so nonchalantly? Even though she was not overly familiar with him, she felt her heart break a little. He seemed like one of the friendlier patients... or at least, at the moment he seemed rather friendly. It was still possible that he was an axe-murderer in disguise; she'd have to stay on her toes... just in case.

She gave the boy an airy laugh, unsure of whether or not his rhyme had been on purpose, but still finding it funny. She gave him a wink and a quick thumbs up,
"I probably wouldn't stop practicin' even if I broke both legs... aw, s**t. Probably just jinxed myself there. Oh well." She gave him a care-free shrug and reached up to finger the pendant around her neck absentmindedly.

She faltered slightly at his statement and gave him an awkward smile,
"Uh. Yeah. I hope so, too. Maybe I'll be reunited with my Leader... and my troupe mates sometime soon, yeah? T-that'd be... fantastic." She let out a soft breath as her mind seemed to wander for a second. She had certainly been caught off guard.

Revi snapped her head back up and gave him a pleasant smile,
"Lutwidge, huh? That's cute. So... exotic - is that the right word? Uh. Yeah, so exotic sounding!" She hopped back a step and leaned down into a flourishing bow, "Th' name's Reverie. Revi for short. Nice ta meetcha, yeah?"

"Exotic's one way to put it- I always thought it was kinda stuffy. It was my grandfather's name. Your name's your name, though, I can tell- it suits you. I hope you're not here as long as I've been. Although..." Lutwidge stared off into the distance. "I think it's better that I'm here. At least now my dad can't get to me." Thinking about his father was depressing. He had to wonder if he'd have ended up like the experiments- all cut up and spliced back together- if he'd remained anywhere near the mad surgeon. Would he even be alive? Here he could run and hide. At home, he didn't have that option. He forced himself to smile again- no sense upsetting this new girl.

Revi cocked her head to the side as she placed both hands on her hips and gave Lutwidge a childish frown, "Aw, it's not stuffy! And who cares if it was your grandfather's name, hm? The fact that anybody named you at all means that you were loved, yeah?" She then nodded, as if to further confirm her statement, and gave him a dreamy smile. So he thought that her name suited her? Yes, today was a definitely a wonderful day.

"Oh, you think so? Thanks. My Leader named me because... b-because..." Because she was beloved? Because he had loved her? Her green eyes drifted back up to his face and stared at his smile for a few seconds. So Lutwidge Burr had been a patient for five years, had his grandfather's name, and didn't seem too overly fond of his father. Interesting.

Revi crossed her arms over her chest and let out a small sigh.
"So, hey. What do you usually do out here in the courtyard, Lutwidge?" Any hint of doubt or frustration had quickly faded away and replaced by a bright smile. She gave him a small laugh and quickly added, "Y'know, other than stand out with your - ah! Exotic hair color?"
