The sun was rising up from its long evening nap and warming the land under it. The fresh morning due was covering the snow that had fallen the night before. There was a gentle breeze pushing the snow drifts apart. The day seemed like a ordinary day to all the woodland creatures, but fate seemed to have something else in mind for two very special beings.

A young female named Soyala began her morning routine when she felt the warm sun shinning down on her gray nose. She stood up on all fours under a large oak which she lied down under the night before. She stretched out her front two paws followed by her back two paws. With a little effort she shook her tail, allowing the fresh snow to fall out of it. Opening her muzzle her long tongue slid out and she proceeded to clean up her coat just a little bit. A lick here, a lick there, and wallah she was clean once again. She knew that it didn't take much effort to clean herself with a tongue as long as hers. Soyala highly believed in presentation, so she made a habit of cleaning herself up in the morning so that she too could be presentable to others; that is if she could find anyone else.
Wow, Soyala thought to herself on that subject of meeting someone else. It had been many moons since she had last seen someone of her kind. She did not know when she would meet somebody else but she figured when she did it would be memorable.
She walked out from under the large oak tree. She was scoping out the horizon when she heard something from afar. Maybe it's my breakfast, Soyala thought to herself while beginning to salivate. She slowly crouched down and began to move one paw after the other getting closer to the area of where the sound came from.

A sigh is heard through out the forest clearance from Nutaryuk waking up and that was perfectly fine with him. Nutaryuk wanted to be the center of attention all the time, matter of fact he believed it to a sort of right for him. Another day to be fabulous, Nutaryuk thought to himself as he stood on all fours. With one shift movement, Nutaryuk shook the snow off his coat from the snow the night before. He had traveled many miles the day before and finally collapsed and fell asleep when he was to tired to lift another paw.
Nutaryuk wasn't sure who's land he was on but he didn't seem to smell anyone's scent in the surrounding area, but he knew he still had to be cautious for loners. Even though he was slightly cocky, Nutaryuk knew that a loner could be stronger than him.
Nutaryuk began to inhale the snow underneath and to the sides of him. "Oh wow", Nutaryuk said aloud without being able to hold his words in for he smelt the sweetest scent in the ground. He slid out his long blue tongue out of his mouth to see if he could feel anyone around him.
Nutaryuk jumped backwards right into a bush when he felt a vibration rush through his tongue. Great, now they know I am here, he thought to himself as he braced himself to attack when the loner was close enough.

Soyala stuck out her tongue as she lifted one paw gently in front of the next, placing it on the soft, freezing snow. She was feeling how far she needed walk before she hit the source of the vibrations. I hope its a rabbit or a ground mole. I'm starving, Soyala thought to herself as her glands began to salivate even more.
As she grew closer, Soyala sensed something was not right with this picture. The vibrations were strong and large, growing larger with each closer step. Within seconds it dawned on her, it could be a loner. She froze in her tracks and controlled her breathing. She hoped it would just move on if the loner figured it was small game, but yet something sparked inside her. Someone like me? I haven't seen anyone for such a long time. Before Soyala knew it her breathes were rapid and shallow. I must calm down, she thought as she got her breathing under control once again.
The wait was now on.

Well that's odd, Nutaryuk thought. The vibrations went normal, weak, bounding, then weak again. Nutaryuk wondered what he was really dealing with. He certainly knew he's never faced anything like this before.
Nutaryuk waited for the longest time, in his world, and finally the vibrations became weak and thready. Okay, I waited long enough. I seeing if anything is actually there. He slid his blue tongue out further and further, and all was good. Nothing must be there after all, Nutaryuk chuckled to himself. I got all worked over nothing, he thought as he was backing out of the bush.
Suddenly his whole train of thought raced out of his mind while new thoughts rushed as the wind does during a storm. He immediately jumped 180 degrees, totally turning himself around to be nose to nose to this loner.
"Who are you?" Nutaryuk began to snarl and show his canines to the loner.
