szowlee82 Um, I don't mean to be insencitive or anything but who is he? I feel so dumb because I don't know. sweatdrop I'm not too sure either. They had a video of him play at Grand Nationals this year. I think it was at the conclusion of Prelims. From what I remember from that video he specialized in drum majors, but I'm not sure. I'm sure other people around here would know better than me.

He hosted a drum major camp and was a really great band director I do believe. I almost attended his camp, but went to FJM instead. I now wish I would have went to his camp instead so I could have experienced his work..

That day....was like a nightmare. My BD just graduated from UMASS Amherst. He's the best teacher we could ever have. He was the drum major in the minutemen marching band.(you're all jealous. ;P) Anyway. He's always early for school. And one day he just didn't show up. So me, being a panicky person freaked and thought up the worst case scenario. Only this time....for once..I was right. It was the first time I ever just openly cried my eyes out in public. I was basically useless the rest of the day. sad
BUT! I like to think of the happy times. GNP stories are my favorite thing. 3nodding Just out of curiosity...was anyone here at All Cape 2010? "AHAAAB!!!" <----deep manly voice (OMG I freekin love that man. He's the reason I'm doing music education for college.)

i'm in the michigan marching band, and we found out that he died the day before we were playing umass, while the umass band was in ohio travelling to michigan...it was absolutely heartbreaking, i can't even imagine what that would have felt like if that had happened to my director! so we tried our best to support umass' band and inform the student body so they would be treated with more respect during the game. man, the umass band is just a class act and i have total respect for them. george parks did great work with them as well as all the drum majors he taught!
RIP George Parks
