Asylum. Drew turned the word around in his head as he left his room. He'd had a crappy night sleep since he'd had to sleep on the floor. Mattresses weren't standard issue here apparently. That was ok though, because he was sure he'd be able to find one somewhere and take it. He wasn't above fighting for one either. But back to the word. Asylum stood for nut-house, everyone knew that. Drew certainly did, and it had just been hammered further into his head by this place. But the main definition of the word he had been focusing on when he'd checked himself in was a place to hide, that was safe, where no one could touch him.
Boy had he ever gotten that wrong. Sure, the people who were after him originally couldn't get him here. They didn't even know he was here. But if he'd realized the type of s**t that went down here... he'd have taken his chances on the streets. Oh well, no turning back now right?
Drew walked along the hallways where the rooms where and looked at the doors. There were one or two that were open, so he poked his head inside. Of course the mattresses were gone already. That would have been too simple. The next thing was to try some of the doors. He went to the end of the hallway and tried the first door on the end.

Green eyes stared at the outstretched hand blankly. She was hearing things again. Revi slowly flexed her fingers as she lay motionlessly on the creaky mattress. Sure, the nightmares and mild hallucinations were frequent. Sure, she was starting to get used to them. Sure, they were - dare she say it?
...
Comforting.
Of course, that didn't mean that she liked them. They brought back bad memories and they frightened her. They made her ridiculously angry and depressingly sad every time she woke up and -- What time was it now? Was it time for lunch yet? Or maybe breakfast...? Maybe she'd go find Lennox and they could raid the kitchen togeth -- Where in the hell was Lulu? The naive girl was probably out getting her a** lost again and what time was i --
She took in a sharp breath and swiftly rolled out of bed, ending her rambling thoughts and ignoring the familiar voice that seemed to echo in the lonely room. She needed to clear her mind and after a few seconds of going over her options, Revi chose to go practice her acrobatics out in the court yard. Nothing like a little fresh air and exercise to get you going...
'I --'
She quickly whirled around on her heel sharply, hoping to find a familiar face behind her. She didn't quite know why, but she could swear that her heart skipped a beat when she discovered that there was nothing there, just a blank and cracking wall.
'My Reverie...'
The lips dropped down into a tight scowl as she lifted her foot and promptly kicked the little drawer across the room with the bottom of her boot. She got no satisfaction from the loud bang of the drawer hitting the opposite wall and didn't even grin victoriously when it toppled to the floor sadly. Her Asylum neighbors would surely complain about that one. Revi quietly pondered how and why the drawer was still in one piece despite it's daily abuse as she made her way to the door.
She stopped in front of the door, her tail dragging on the floor forlornly behind her as she let out a long and almost disappointed sigh before placing her hand on the scuffed up doorknob.
'I'm so sorry, my Reverie.'
"Shut up. Just shut up."

Well, the first few rooms Drew tried were locked. Though he was far from giving up, or feeling frustrated, he really hoped that they weren't all going to be like that. He reached and wrapped a gloved hand around the handle and suddenly, the door was being opened and he was yanked in, caught slightly off balance.
"Gah!"
Drew made a slight noise of surprise, and flung his bare hand to grab the door frame to keep from falling. As he found himself steadied he lifted his gaze up to find himself looking at a...woman, not a human one, he could tell that much already, but a woman nonetheless. Human or no, he found himself thinking that she was rather attractive. But that was also a thought he stomped out immediately. He couldn't afford to get distracted by a woman's looks in a place like this and besides, there was a good chance she was crazy or something, and Drew wasn't about to let himself get interested in a crazy chick. Allies, yeah, accomplices, yeah, friends, maybe, but anything more then that, no f***ing way.
"Uh... Sorry."
The apology was given quickly with a slightly embarrassed look at getting caught trying to sneak into someone's room. Drew also could tell that this woman wasn't one to be messed with. Plus, she didn't look happy as it was.

Revi's head tilted downwards slightly as she stared in a questioning manner at the dark haired man clinging to the door frame. After a few seconds of awkward silence, she quickly shuffled backwards and out of his reach, resisting the urge to just flat out back flip to safety; after all, the room was much too small for such an action, she would either hit the wall or land on the bed. She pursed her lips into a thin line as she continued to eye the man suspiciously. Okay, so he wasn't Lulu. Or Lennox. Or Clyde. Or Cassie. Or... anyone she recognized for that matter. He either didn't live in this hallway - she had memorized all of her neighbors' faces by now - or he was a new patient... or both. Right, there was always that third option.
She narrowed her green eyes slightly and gave the man a small frown. What was he doing by her room, standing by her door? Revi began to grit her teeth in an angry manner as the possibility of the man being a 'scavenger' made its way into her mind. Of course, almost everyone scavenged, but it was certainly different when other people tried to break into her room... not that she had anything worthwhile to steal anyways. Well - she glanced at the bed briefly - except for the mattress... and maybe the drawer, but even so! How dare he try to intrud --
Whoa. No. Calm yourself, Revi. Caaaalm. Maybe the dude's new? Maybe he was jus' lookin' for a room? You were once roomless and clueless, too. Yeah. She let out a long sigh and let her face relax back into its neutral look. Rather than cross her arms over her chest like she normally would, Revi decided to keep them at her sides just in case she needed to aim a punch or use a shoulder as some leverage for fleeing. It wasn't exactly the most optimistic thought (then again, who ever thought happy thoughts at a place like the Asylum?), but there was always the possibility that the man was either a) crazy or b) violent. Besides, he certainly didn't look like the jolly guy next door or the child-loving elementary school teacher.
After a few more seconds of contemplation, she decided to respond in a surprisingly... not-so-angry tone.
"Uh huh. So, who in th'hell are you?"

As Reverie contemplated the situation, Drew released his hold from the door frame and door knob and straitened up. He slid his hands into his pockets and gave her a smile. Though he was doing his best to smile in such a way that it made him look like a nice guy, the smile looked just a little forced. He tightened his fingers around the shard of glass he had in his pocket, ready to pull it out and use it as a weapon if needed. Who knew if this woman was violent. Even if she wasn't crazy, Drew had met his fair share of people who'd rough you up for even thinking about stepping on their "property", and right now, these rooms were as close as you got here.
Then she was demanding to know who he was. Drew figured this was a pretty fair question since he WAS the one that had just been trying to open the door to her room. He fished his non-gloved hand, the one not holding the shard, out of his pocket and held it out to her, offering to shake. Maybe it was a little presumptuous to be offering his hand after trying to get into her room but Drew didn't always think that kind of thing through.
"The name's Drew. I'm uh, new around here. I was just kinda checkin' around to see if there were any empty rooms with mattresses in them."
Well, it was true. Drew just left out the part about being willing to steal a mattress if he had to.

Revi quietly listened to the man as he spoke, engraving his face and voice into her mind. She quickly crossed her arms loosely over her chest as the corner of her lips slightly twitched upwards. Green eyes trailed down from the awkward smile to the outstretched hand. Was the guy even aware of what he was doing? He was either a dirty fighter hoping to catch her off guard or he was a foolish man trying to make the situation less awkward. She chewed on the inside of her cheek for a few seconds before boldly closing the distance between them with long strides, her tail extension dragging behind her in an almost regal fashion. Without hesitating, Revi took his hand in her's and gave him a short and gentle handshake before pulling her small hand away a little too quickly and taking a step back.
"Hmmm. Well, okay. Drew, huh? That's simple enough, yeah. Oh, new, huh? That sucks. And g'luck finding a room with a mattress... but what were you doing by my room? Don't you know what a ********' knock is?"
She let out an irritated sigh and decided to brush away the fact that he was probably trying to break into her room. It was just a small detail in the grand scheme of things anyway.
"But hey, I suggest you just like... find a room, get comfy, and run out and jack someone's mattress - not mine, though," she gave him a secretive smirk at this part before twirling her hand in a vague manner, "That's what I had to do. Found this room, had a drawer and a bed frame and stuff, but no mattress. Like, what hell? So I went out and stole one from some poor sucker. It was a total pain in the a** draggin' it back here, but hey. I got somethin' to sleep on, so it's all good, yeah? Got rid of the bed frame, though. Damn thing's probably a safety hazard."
She gave Drew a knowing look, her green eyes flickering over the scar on his face for a fraction of a second before letting out a small chuckle, "Whoops. Rambling again. Anyways," she took a step back and swooped down into a quick and dramatic bow, "The name's Reverie. You can opt for Revi, though. Whatever floats your crazy boat, yeah?"

Drew was pleased when Revi decided to shake hand back. He did however notice that she stepped back a little too quickly, though it didn't seem odd to him. It seemed cautious, smart even. Maybe she'd noticed his hand in his pocket, or maybe it was how he looked. That scar definitely made it hard for him to appear non-threatening sometimes. Since he wasn't feeling threatened by Revi, he did pull the had in his pocket free and hooked his thumb through his belt loop.
"I think I'll go with Revi, though my boat isn't crazy." He gave a small chuckle. "Not yet anyway. Came in here because I thought it was safer then out there. Pretty stupid, I know. But yeah, sorry, I shoulda knocked. Would have been way smarter, even if I am just going around for a mattress. So uh... how long have you been in here anyway?"
It seemed to Drew like maybe she knew the lay of the land a little. Not that she struck him as extra crazy or anything, but she didn't seem....new to the place either. He couldn't put a finger on why it struck him that way, but hey, he wasn't going to over think it.

She quirked an eyebrow at him and nodded her head slowly, leaning back casually, when in fact she was still keeping herself guarded. "Heh," Revi gave him a small smirk. "You came in here? Yeah. You're right, that is pretty stupid. Pretty sure you'll never get out now~"
She gave him an airy laugh and shook her head, "Nah. It's better to come in unannounced. Not as nice, but hey! You can catch a person off guard. Of course, that's not to say that you should come into my room unannounced and stuff." She was probably telling him too much at this point.
Revi twirled on a lock of hair thoughtfully as she let out a small hum before giving Drew a vague hand gesture, "Oh, y'know... not too long. I'm not new either, though. Two months now, I think? Whatever, s'all just a buncha numbers anyway." She was lying. She knew exactly how long she had been in the Asylum, despite how disoriented she always felt. It wasn't just a bunch of numbers to her. She kept track of each day, hoping that one day she'd find that familiar head of blond hair walking around, looking for her, ready to steal her away like he had so many years ago.
She took a small step forward and placed her hands on her hips, leaning forward slightly and peering up at Drew, "Hey, now. Why don't you back your a** outta my door and since Miss Reverie is feeling oh-so-kind and generous at the moment... maybe she can help you steal a mattress, yeah?" She needed a distraction.
