The eleven year old Chuunin didn't flinch as a row of buildings were torn apart by a single cinder block. The eruption of rubble filled the air with a thick layer of dust that rolled outwards to encompass over 40 yards of space. The thunderous roar of demolished buildings soon faded but Mattei utilized that moment when the row of buildings were being torn apart to impale two kunai into the pile of rubble before him. With that task completed the young shinobi focused on his opponent, whom he could see quite clearly because of the flow of chakra that circulated through his body.
Mattei's hands came together and flowed into a brief series of handseals that expelled chakra from his pores and cycled them into the atmosphere. Visibility plummeted as a thick mist descended on the village, filling the streets and creeping silently into every crevice. At the moment Deil would find it hard to see more than three feet ahead of him but as the fight progressed he would be effectively blinded as the mist thickened around his body.
"Hidden Mist Technique,"
Mattei whispered the phrase and allowed his hands to drop to his sides while keenly observing his opponents reaction. Prior to his activation of the technique or even Deil's arrival, Mattei was busied himself with mapping out the territory under direct orders from an employer. The only reason he even travelled to the village was to search for any records of a specific ninja clan long since eradicated during the First Shinobi Wars. He was also under orders to attack anyone who arrived in the village, especially since his employer believed others were greedy for the information. Mattei had no qualms with this, he himself was desperately interested in the information that may be found beneath the remains of the village.
