[[It's not the plot ideas that bother me, it's the characterization of the simpson characters that really grind my gears. So I guess that's why I prefer Season 2 above all others, and my favorite moments are heartfelt moments that make me feel all good inside.
However I don't just watch the Simpsons episodes for feel good, I love watching gut-busting episodes as well.
Look at LETS, the plot wasn't extremely intricate or heart-wrenching but the episode worked beautifully as it played off of the great "old" (versus the new characterization of) Mr. Burns and Homer. (Lisa as well).
I actually prefer it when the episode's plot is simple-unlike that of the new episode coming up-as the writers can bounce more ideas off of that single idea instead of cramming a ton of ideas in an episode.
