I'm still working on getting a feel for the characters I've already got (and that's probably going to take forever), but before I get too attached, I want to find out what classes typically sit around LFG all the time, and which ones get snapped up?

I've heard that hunters are mainly a solo class, which is distressing to me because I'm enjoying my little hunter. The priest I am toying with is proving to be difficult to solo (stupid cloth armor I guess). The paladin is my little favorite so far, but if I choose the wrong "build" setup I could really screw myself over.

So, if you could take a minute to share your opinions with me, I'd greatly appreciate it. heart

Hunters don't have the best rep in LFG in the battlegroups I'm in at least. They are great for soloing since you have your own personal tank. Hunters are good for groups as well. Just learn how to appropriately handle your pet, don't pull for the tank and you may want to pick up some trapping and kiting skills for Cataclysm.

I have two priest, one Alliance and one Horde. I leveled the Alliance one Shadow and the Horde one as Holy (lawlsmite xD). Holy spec makes it easy to heal dungeons on the way up and still do some decent damage and be able to survive on your own.

I leveled my now gone Horde pally as holy, I only made it to 40 but the survivability it affords is pretty crazy. Killing is a teensy bit slow but with the Cata tree refinements it might not be so bad. My pally that is actually at 80 I leveled Prot, so easy to kill mobs quick. Took forever to med/badaid back up after.

...

If your talking dungeon LFG its just whatever 3 dps, healer and tank pop to the front of the respective queues.

Tanks I see a lot of: pallys and warriors
DPS I see a lot of: bad (and good) ret pallys and dks, mages and hunters, dps in pvp gear
Healers I see a lot of: disc priests, shamans

In the server I'm in...Tanks and healers are most needed esp. for raids and ppl are always looking for them on trade chat. Most ppl like shammys and druids because of bl and brez. Melee dps is very popular so it's not hard to find them but finding a good rdps is more important imo. My friend who is a mage does and 10k+ dps and hunters are also very good. Everyone plays an important role in raiding anyway. For leveling solo...I heard hunters are the easiest but I had no luck with that. I'm not a very good hunter lol. So I just stick with my melee classes and lock.
Btw, my main is a ret/prot pally. Also have a holy set but not very good. They are very useful if they are dual-specced esp. in raids. They are most useful as tanks or holy bc like I said tanks are always needed in case someone leaves or they need a 3rd tank.

If you use dungeon finder for a five man you'll always have instant (or almost instant) queue if you're a healer or tank.
The same is usually true when looking for a raid group yourself too.
Most groups are hard up for tanks and heals.

I can't play my dps hardly anymore.
Got spoiled by my shaman and paladin.
They both wait maybe a minute or less for a group, regardless of what dungeon I'm looking for.

A good Resto druid will always find a home, especially if they have a balance offspec they are good at. They are easily picked up on several pugs for raiding as well as guilds as a main member. Same goes with a good resto shaman.

There are way to many Prot Paladins and warriors and ferals, good DK tanks are hard to find as most are only into PVP or bad dps'ers (few are good)

Paladins are probably the easiest. But i found a shadow priest to be pretty easy.
