I could look this up... but I'd rather ask someone about this.
I have a story that I actually wrote for my english class last year and now I kinda wanna get it published. What do I have to do to get published?
Could someone throw down the the process of the publishing world? Who do I send to? How do I contact them? I know I wait a long time to hear from them but how long? Do I need an agent?(I thought I read that somewhere)
.. Just explain everything to me.
:]

Thank you!!

Go to duotrope.com and fill out the length (short story or # words) and/or genre and then hit search, and it'll give you a list of publishers who say they publish these things. Then, check out their websites, see if they're the type that would be interested in what you've written and what the criteria is for submission (most sites have a tab labeled "submission guidelines" that tell you about format). Follow their directions and submit your work. The short story market is highly competitive; don't get discouraged if it doesn't pan out, because it's a difficult thing to market. Good luck!

hmm...well actually you would just go up to your professer or teacher and tell him/her that you want your story published and then they'll probably look it over and take it over from there...

(i got all of the stuff up there ^^ from yahooanswers so ya that might not be a good thing)

What? Did you post anything? Oh well, I too am looking for something similar to this. I need to find out if it is a fake agent or not as well. Normally, the best way to publish something is to type it out and meet a publisher in the flesh.
