I'm going to be doing some family portraits for a co-worker of mine, and I'm not going to be able to hold the camera for this. . . I need a tripod. I have one, but it is basically made entirely of fail, so I can't use it for any serious shoots.
The one thing that I'm not educated enough on to decide on my own what to get is a Tripod. . . if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!
I normally shop at B&Hphotovidio.com because the only store near my that has photography equipment is Best Buy. When I asked the attendant if they had any wide angle lenses she just kind of looked at me funny and showed me a telephoto lens. sweatdrop Close lady, but not quite. At least she found a lens!

I just recently purchased a Dynex 60" tripod that I'm in love with. It's pretty sturdy, has 2 bubble levels, and it's fairly inexpensive -- it was $39.99 at Best Buy. If I'd had the money, I would have gone for one of the Manfrotto Carbon Fiber tripods that just feel like they're going to last forever... but as it is, the Dynex tripod is light, comes with a carrying bag, and has great features/quality for the price.
There's my suggestion.
