User ImageThe sun was shining through the treetops and the air was a pleasant warm. Movement. Haze looked towards the sound only to see North buzzing near a small stream. Today he was on his daily patrol of his tribe lands.

A voice came from overhead, "What are you doing, brat?"

Haze looked towards the sound, it was one of the adults from his tribe. "Patrolling."

"You're still young, go play like the other brats do." Grunt. "You're not much use until you sprout horns."

Haze mumbled as he left the area and walked upstream. What he was supposed to do now? The tribe didn't have any other children besides him! He continued to walk until he came across the river that fed the stream. Stomping over the water Haze saw North rest on a nearby rock. He could always...

He pounced towards the insect and tried to carefully trap him in between his hands. "Gottcha!" Suddenly something started to fly around his head mockingly; North. "Stupid bug."

She trotted downstream she little feathered tail flailing out behind her when she allowed her paws to shuffle around in the cool river waters as she trotted downstream. The young Adahy had never been this far into the forest; she certainly wasn’t from the tribe that owned this part of the forest, over even really any tribe in particular... Well... Of course she from a tribe, but she just didn’t like to think she was.

Being in a tribe was too... Not fun.

For once she had managed to escape her little worrisome beaver friend. It hated when she ventured out too far, but there was no chance that she would venture too close to Di’Taki lands, over even too close to another tribe. They were all just so scary. Not that that really terrified her. She was really brave, after all, more so than any other young ones in her tribe!

However Ahote’s splashes ceased as she heard another sound; a voice. Her ears pricked as she stood at a point, lifting a front paw out of the water, her silver eyes concentrating on the path in front of her.

What was it? A scary Di’Taki? Or maybe one of their nasty little birds? The black Adahy quickly hopped from the stream’s waters and into the shadowy brush, crouching low, her gaze searching for the horrid beast. She would scare it back off into its own land! She kneaded the soft underbrush of the forest as her feathered rump wriggled with excitement; the other children would be in awe of her with her stories of scaring off this thingy! And she never would be told to stay in the tribe’s ground or to stay out of the way by the adults.

They just wouldn’t!

Getting up from being half submerged in the river, haze began to walk back to the Adahy lands. Once he was on land he began to shake his feet to quickly dry them off; he didn't want to get mud over his paws and feathers.

Disctracted, Haze didn't notice North fluttering away deeper into the forest. North had seen another Adahy, one not of his tribe, and he flashed his signals to alert Haze, but to no avail. All North could do was to try to stop the Adahy himself!

North fluttered to Ahote and went to attempt to stop her from potentially harming Haze; Not that it would work. But maybe North could distract her until Haze finally noticed the visitor.

When the creature came into view Ahote was disappointed to see that her monster was just another young Adahy. Her posture fell dramatically and the child swung her head until her muzzle nearly reached the earthy ground. But then the thought hit her.

This was still her tribe's land!

And this young Adahy was certainly not in her tribe. So, she would be scaring off a enemy's threat! Ahote quickly lifted her head and her rump wriggled once more as she prepared to pounce at him. However, a fluttering... Thing... Was quick to catch her attention and she lifted her head to squint at the bug. What on earth was it doing? Ahote's head bobbed slightly as she tried to peer around the brush to try to catch a better view of the intruder. Why, this bug had an appearance like the Adahy.

An accomplice!!

Ahote gave a silent snarl as she wriggled once more and pounce upwards to swat at the little bug to get try to get it to leave, it would give her presence away, and that was not something she could have or else she wouldn't be able to scare the intruder.

Haze's head snapped as he saw Ahote jump into the air to swing at North. "Hey!" He shouted as he ran to the girl to save his familiar from her dangerous movements.

"What do you think you're doing!?" Haze bared his teeth at the female; there was no way that he would let North get hurt on his watch! He would never be able to return to his tribe without being mocked by the males.

"Get your own glowbug to squish!"

Ahote froze as the voice rang in her ears. Her gaze immediately jerked towards the male as he ran towards her, undoubtedly to rescue his little bug and the female was quick to lower herself and give a threatening growl. Or, at least she tried to be threatening.

"I don't want your dumb bug! You're trespassing, this isn't your land!" The Adahy snapped as she bared her teeth right back. Ahote puffed herself up, ruffling her feathers to try to prove that she was bigger and tougher.

Frankly she didn't have any proof that this wasn't his tribe's land, or even hers for that matter. And so, she hopped over the brush and trotted past him, scanning the forest floor for a nice spot. Ahote passed one more tree, pranced in a small circle before dragging a claw across the soil for a nice little line.

"See!! This is my land! And if you don't leave. I'll... I'll... Why, I'll squish that dumb bug of yours!" Ahote spoke as she lifted her head triumphantly.

Oh! He would have to back down now, and run home to his mommy with his tail between his legs!

"Then stop trying to squish him!"

This girl was incredibly loud! "This is my tribe's land you're the one that's trespassing!" He shouted back at her, running to higher ground, threatening her with his just emerging horns. North fluttered between the two of them, trying in his own way, to stop the oncoming fight.

"Well you stay on your side and I won't squish you!" He snarled at her. "And it's not like you can catch North! He's the fastest glowbug in my tribe!" And only glowbug... but he wasn't going to say that out loud.

The small Adahy shrunk back at the male bounded his way to the higher ground. Her black ears pulled back defensively against her head as she let out a low growl. “This is my tribe’s lands! You... You big dummy!” Ahote hissed when she quickly hopped back to her toes and pawed at the ground like a angry bull about to charge, she even let out that breathy snort, swinging her head as though she had horns to flaunt.

“You go back and stay on your side or I’ll squish you and your little bug too!” However she paused when North came between them, almost immediately her ‘threatening’ posture became mischievous, as did that look on her maw.

Ahote crouched and focused on that little Glowbug, her clawed appendages dug at the earthy soil as her white feathered rump wriggled and she leapt at the bug, swiping at him with a dainty paw. Now, she had no intention to hurt him, she was merely playing. Her own Chapa was no fun at all. Always worried, always complaining like a weary baby sitter or something.

It was so annoying.

"Stop trying to trespass onto my tribe's lands! Or I'll hit you with my horns! They're sharp!" Haze yelled out to the girl and let out a squeal of horror when she leaped towards North: "Eeek!"

Quickly he rushed down his hill and tackled into the side of the girl mid-jump. Crashing to the ground he wrestled to pin her to the ground. "Stop! Don't you hurt him you big fat ugly Di'Taki!"
