I reach out to catch you,
To cradle your head in my arms,
But you slip right through my fingers,
And land among the stars.
I didn’t really realize, the time you began to drift.
Your spirit seeking comfort, whilst mine began to shift,
Unintentionally ignoring them, your subtle cries for help,
Well and truly focused only on myself.
Within your written letters, there you scribed your pain,
I didn’t pay attention until you lay gone,
Cold at the foot of a hill, mind and body slain.
You asked me one day, did I ever wish to be free?
To be honest, those words didn’t mean anything to me.
It was your sprit locked inside that now eternal cage of fully justified hurt,
That was begging for someone to help you turn a new leaf over.
Our chance to save you fled when your hands found that cursed rope,
On the wings of ignorance had fled your last shred of hope.
I should have paid attention; now all I can do is cry.
You left us all divided, as you watch on from the sky.
Faith will never truly know you, sadly nor will we.
Cling now to you well deserved peace, until maybe one day,
We will meet.

Okay...this is also in the arenas - but some feedback would be appreciated either here or there.
Falling Swift
- NB. This is a working title.
Falling swiftly through the floor,
My poor body can’t take much more.
Burning sorrow, blunted knife,
All I want is to take this life.
Boundless hate and driving pain,
Forces tears to fall like rain.
Calling out, they can’t hear,
Anxious words tinged with fear.
Desperate times call for desperate measures,
All because those of a feather, flock together.
Burning bitter words I speak,
Trying madly to suppress this heat.
Lines of anger, spiels of rage,
Falling swiftly I build this cage,
And lock away and rational emotions.
Trapped inside, I can’t see out,
Or feel your arms reaching out to help.
Patiently waiting for me to see,
That maybe, just maybe,
You care deeply for me.
I should count my blessings, I really should.
Rather than misunderstanding,
And being misunderstood.
Be thankful for you, your love and support,
Ignore all others who try and thwart,
My reason for living a fruitful life.

This I wrote for the 1 year annaversery of my friends death. I wrote it a tribute - but I think it needs more grunt - any ideas? Also this is in the arenas too. Grey to Gold
-NB. this is also a working title - subject to change.
When darkness turns to grey,
Dawn is on her way.
Rosy fingers touch the sky.
The birds begin to sing.
Lying in fretful wakefulness,
I fight a battle with faithfulness.
Troubles swarm in my head,
The day has barely begun.
Feet swing over to touch cold floor,
While inside I wage this war.
Melodies pass through the curtain,
Doing nothing to lessen the grief.
Her life so short and her breath so brief,
All we wanted was to keep,
Her here with us in this city.
But she left for a garden.
Her means of travel was simple,
Brutally so and really quite painful.
The pills sitting there on the counter,
All that stop me from leaving too.
Where grey dawn turns to gold,
I remember our times of old.
I whisper words for her to hear,
As I go about my life.

Grey to Gold:: Very touching <3 The absoloute only thing I can say (and poetry isn't my forte) is the line "While inside I fight a war." , I don't know, it feels awkward... But I'm certainly no poet, the stuff I do write has no structure smile Again, extremely touching and full of feeling. I loved it.

I wrote this in church. We were talking about the Roman Empire - and I also study this at school in Classical History. So yeah - there you go.
Empire
The rise and fall of nations,
Often depends on places,
With very little to offer,
Except very convenient borders.
Soldiers march through fields,
Crushing wheat below their feet,
Taking with them dreams of conquest,
Passing by the frightened public.
The empire collapses from within.
