Broken eyes stared out the window, gazing upon a grey morning. Thoughts reeled in his head and the sounds of people’s voices flooded the air around him. He was how ever, completely alone in his room, or at least, he was the only one alive in the room. He hadn’t done anything wrong…no he knew he hadn’t done anything wrong, but then again, if he hadn’t, he would have been free and out on the streets.
he let his gaze fall to the ground, the soft and squishy padding beneath him slowly making his body ache. He wasn’t sure just how long he had been there, but it was surely long enough. Perhaps it had been hours…days…weeks…He was not sure anymore. Time seemed to slip past him, and for once in his life he felt alone, and…scared. So many voices flooded his room, the room where he was supposedly alone.
But he knew he was never alone, not when there were so many creatures within his white padded cell…
They sang, songs of hope, songs of sorrow…some looked like fairies, others like creatures straight out of a horror movie. But never did they hurt him…No they simple talked.
He had eventually come to a conclusion, that they could not see him, as if there were some boundary between his and their world. He did not know why he could see these things, but it all confused him greatly.
All of his thoughts were pushed away as the voices went silent, an eerie silence that filled his room, and a pit seemed to grow within his stomach. He did not like the silence, it scared him. But it was soon pierced by a shrill scream from outside his cell. The door of his cell was ripped open, massive talons ripping it from it’s hinges. A beast stood before him, inspecting him with Large Golden eyes. It looked almost like a giant lion, but it had slitted nostrils like a horse, and bat like wings that curled in the nook of it’s back.
Without a sound the creature vanished, and it was then that he realized he was free. With no hesitation he jumped up and ran. He was not sure where he was running too, but for some reason it felt so natural to run. He did not remember the last time he had run like this, but eventually he found his lungs burning until he could run no more. At that point he collapsed.
He had fallen outside a small village, far away from the now crumbling psycho ward. A place that would have no idea of the boys’ origins, or where he came from.
“The boy seems to be around Sixteen or so” a voice rang out, bouncing off the white walls of the small clinic. “I’m not sure where he came from, but he seems to be pretty mal nourished, and it’ll be a miracle if he can remember anything” the voice continued.
The boys’ mind raced and his eyes flashed open, meeting a pair of serene blue eyes with his own.
“How are you feeling?” the man before him asked, his voice gruff.
He appeared to be in his late thirties or early forties. A burly man with a long white beard. He appeared to be kind, and he gave of no threatening signs in the boys eyes.
With slight hesitation the boy sat, confusion flickering in his eyes. Just where was he? He couldn’t remember…he couldn’t remember a thing. Where he had come from, or even his own name.
“Who am i?” He whispered, innocent eyes flickering up to meet those of the man again.
“I don’t know.” Was the simple reply.
‘I don’t know’…that one phrase rang through out his mind……
