I really think it was a great idea, but what about the African Americans who were slaves durring the civil war? There's only one memorial for that and that's in Africa. And they were in the middle of where all that happened.

psychocats I went on a trip to Tennessee with my temple this weekend, and we visited Whitwell to see their holocaust memorial - of paper clips! Has anyone else heard about this? I thought it was amazing. A bunch of kids, most of whom have never met a Jew, thought up - and finished! - this project. They live in a completely Christian, 99% white, community, but are even more accepting than some people I know who have grown up in a more diverse area. These kids just wanted to learn about other cultures. What do you guys think of it? YOU GOT TO SEE IT?! I want to so badly. Yes, my temple showed the video of how it was made last year How it came to be was that in the school, they were teaching about the Holocaust and the teacher told the class that over six million Jews were killed. Then in response one student asked, "What is 6 million". And that got everyone thinking. So they began to collect paperclips, with a goal t get 6 million, they exceeded there goal bya lot and built a Holocaust memorial with the paper clips inside.

sas_essay I really think it was a great idea, but what about the African Americans who were slaves durring the civil war? There's only one memorial for that and that's in Africa. And they were in the middle of where all that happened. another thing i am absolutely sick of: over-affirmative action. zonko, ranting do you know why the blacks were slaves in the first place? because their rival tribesmen captured them, traded them for guns, and used the guns to start tribal wars to get more captives to sell. it's their own fault. and honestly, for the most part, black society is appalling. it's hardly a ground rule (some of the smartest poeple i've known were blacks) but the culture today is degenerate. if i had a dollar for every kid that gets thrown out of the local public schools in a year, whether for cursing out a teacher, bringing a gun/knife to school, fighting, singing a rap with offensive lyrics, assaulting a teacher, etc, i'd be buying myself a 360 right now. and often, one kid does most of the above, compounded with failing or near failing grades.... this is not to say anything bad about blacks as individuals. but they really don't deserve anymore than anyone else. and i simply can't stand it when poeple start with "affirmative action" and "equal rights". if a black wants a job, he'll go to school, get a degree, and earn it. just like everyone else. anyway, the moral of the story is that freedom without direction is pointless, and results in stagnation. this is why from pesach, the holiday in which we celebrate our freedom, we count the omer, which marks the days until maten torah (the giving of the torah), which is ultimately purpose or "direction" of life. shtickel torah, there wink
