For someone who almost never gets headaches, a migrain is pretty scary. My head hurts worse than when I slipped an smashed it on the ice. My head felt like it was gona explode. I wanted to stab myself to let the pressure out and I felt nautious. I fell asleep at my aunts an it went away but as soon as I woke up it was worse. By the time I got home I was thinking about going to the hospital but 3hrs in a waiting room vs. Sleeping in my bed, yup, bed won. Now it's 9am an I can feel it coming back, especially if I stand. This is starting to scare the s**t outa me!
This happen to anyone else?

They can be really scary. I used to get them all the time, but my doctor told me it was usually due to too much stress. I found that the easiest way to deal with them was to dim the lights, make some hot tea, then lay down and put a (warm) damp cloth over my eyes. If it gets really severe, there are also pressure points you can use to help control it. Here's a link to a pressure point guide: http://www.ehow.com/how_4449992_pressure-points-cure-headaches.html I really hope you feel better soon. Try to relax and take it easy.

Thanks, I do feel better now. Getting some food and water in me seems to have helped. I can stand up and not feel like I'm dying. Google made me feel worse, cause I read about some girl who almost died from a brain aneurism she thought was a migrain and that migrains that persist can lead to stroke. eek But all the migrain triggers fit. Lack of sleep, dehydration, chocolate, caffein ( I asked for decaf though... cause my heart also hates caffein. )And of course stress. So I had a good long nap with Aida (my rat) drank lots of water and popped a few pain killers.

Try not to let it freak you out. I was thinking of those same horror stories every time I had a migraine. It's just worth remembering that those those cases are pretty rare. I'm glad you're feeling better.

I get migraines, thankfully not very often. Allergies can trigger them, especially food allergies like if I eat eggplant. I had one sometime last year that had no known cause and came on so hard and strong I DID go to the ER. They did a CATscan but didn't find anything. they gave me some painkillers & sent me home w/ a script for Fiorocet. That stuff helped a lot more than Tylenol.

I get them all the time. Try knocking it out with lots of coffee and pain killers like Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen... Don't mix the pills together! Read the directions before you take them.
Caffeine will usually kill them out.

Caffeine will usually kill them out. Caffeine is kind of iffy, as it can also cause headaches as you wind down from large amounts. Tea is generally better for these, as it contains some caffeine, but nowhere near the face-punching amount that coffee does.

I dunno, i have been drinking coffee since I was six months old according to my mother. If I don't drink a cup I will get super horrible migraines until I get some caffeine. I guess I'm addicted or something.

I guess I'm addicted or something. Ya I think that's what she meant. Caffein can cause the migraines in that when you go without, or after it wears off it can trigger a migraine. So ya it seems a bit iffy. I don't deal with caffein so well anyway. I can handle a cup of green tea, but coffee is a no no for me.

The caffeine helps the headache medicine work faster. You get the most effect from the caffeine if you take it with the the pills ( aspirin/tylenol/naproxen sodium...etc) just make sure the pills don't ALREADY have caffeine. Many of the "migraine" formulations have caffeine in them. For me, the best source of caffeine for headaches has been dark chocolate. It has other natural chemicals that help w/ headaches in some people. Unfortunately it also seems to be a TRIGGER for other people, so it may not work for you, but I am just sharing what has worked for me, and , hey, it's an excuse to eat chocolate!
