So, I've mentioned it before, but im a trumpet player, getting my braces off. Well my orthodontist told me around november they will be coming off. MAJOR PROBLEM. They will be coming off about two weeks before Jazz Ensemble auditions. My band director is expecting me to be the screamer. What the hell am I supposed to do? Like the auditions are competitive, and right now I have rock solid chops, they are jacked, so i've been told, but with my braces off, and auditions filled with stress, sweat, double octave scales (26 scales to be exact), improv, and solos, Idk what is gonna happen.

Someone please give me a few words of advice......like should I wait to get my braces off till next summer (im willing to do this) or what? I can't get them off now during marching season, cause im one of two leads (we have a total of four) that can really crank, and ugh. help me, please. ill love you. heart heart

Don’t stress about it, I felt no difference when I got mine taken off. I play trumpet too and my retainer actually helped me play better.
Good luck.

Maybe you should talk to your instructor about the situation.

Have you talked to your instructor? If not, you should really consider doing so.
And it's not necessarily set in stone how well youwill do once they get taken off, since everyone is different.
Don't try to stress about it too much.
Ultimately, I'd say get them off, but that's just me. I'm a band kid who never had to have braces, so I can't say I've been in your position but I had many friends who had and said that they could tell almost no difference.
I hope this helped in some way.
