The sound of the alarm had run off. Soldiers ran as fast as they could to reach any entrance and opening as soon as possible. Armor clanked against another as they drew out their weapons.
Somehow, they were informed that there was an intruder in the castle. Not only that, but the intruder had assassinated one of the nobles and was trying to kill Lord Rogvald. Luckily, the advisor was safe from harm, but the intruder had escaped. How did the advisor escape from the intruder's assassination? They didn't know, but the advisor ordered them to do their job instead of dilly-dallying.
Lord Rogvald had ordered them to block every entrance immediately and to capture the intruder alive. The advisor wanted to question the intruder's motives. Those were the orders they were given.
They were also informed of the description of what the intruder looked like. If they spotted the intruder, they would have to stop him. The heavy armor knights guarded the gates, doors, and opening. On top of the castle walls and through the windows, archers held onto their bows, looking out for the intruder to come forth.
Every entrance and opening are being guarded. All guards were readied to capture the fiend. There was no escape for the intruder to flee...
... It was too bad that the intruder was being framed for the murder he didn't commit and the guards did not know the truth behind it.

The sound of Pietro's laughter filled Volke's ears. "Damn jester.." he thought as he ran. Then, a new sound was heard: The whirling noise of something flying towards him. The assassin turned his head and saw a bolas soaring through the air. Volke could also barely see the twin set of needles coming as well. Using his ninja-like reflexes, the mysterious intruder dived forwards, which allowed him to dodge all three attacks.
Without missing a beat, Volke recovered from his evasive manuviers and continued to run. Or, rather, he would've, had he not spotted guards.
He figured he was screwed. His mission wasn't to kill the guards. In fact, Volke was fairly certain his employer didn't want more blood than nescessary. The assassin decided not to run and become captured. Hell, it might even open a chance to strike again.
So Volke stopped and slowly put down his weapons. He'd be searched, he knew that, and it was already too late to hide any weapons that weren't already well hidden. "I surrender."

So the fellow actor had good acrobatic skill to dodge his attacks. Oh goody. How fun would that be. It had been a while since he last performed with another actor. Oh yes, indeed it was. But let's see how well could this actor perform on the next trick.
But before this merry assassin could put out his props, he noticed the intruder had stopped and dropped his weapons. The smiling assassin hid himself in the shadow, away from the guards' sight and away from the intruder's sight, hidden deeply behind the curtain but enough to take a sneak peak onstage.
Oh pooh. 'Twas seemed the actor had call it quit. That was no fun. Oh no, indeed it wasn't. How could an fine actor such as himself called it quit? That actor should be ashamed of himself for giving up the performance so easily. Oh yes, indeed he should. However, the Cheshire assassin had to let it go. His order was done. The intruder was captured and didn't escape, but was not caught by him.
But even though he didn't capture him, he had to stay behind the scene. There was no telling what sort of trickery the actor would pull when captured. Oh yes, indeed it was. So just to be sure, he had to keep an eye on the actor.
When the guards spotted the intruder coming, they armed themselves with their weapons. There was a cry of "Halt! Drop your weapons!" as they took their battle stances. They weren't sure how dangerous could that assassin be.
But when they saw the assassin dropped his weapons and said he surrendered, they were flabbergasted. They were informed that this man had killed one of the nobles and tried to kill Lord Rogvald. But to see him surrender had surprised them. What made him give up so easily? They did not know. However, they were happy that they didn't have to put up a fight.
The head guard ordered the knights to check on him, making sure that the assassin wasn't carrying any hidden weapons. Two knights went up to the assassin. As one checked on the assassin to see if there were any hidden weapons, the other held the spear under the assassin's chin, just in case the intruder decided to pull tricks. Far from where the guards and the assassin were, two archers were pointing their arrow toward the intruder but didn't release it. They could see that the assassin had surrendered, but there was no telling if he dared to escape.
After checking and searching the hidden weapons, the guard pulled out a raw hide twine to bind the assassin's hands behind. Once securely tying the hands, the guards placed their hands under the assassin's underarms and took him to the throne room where Rogvald was waiting. Unnoticed to them, they didn't know that there was another assassin following them, hidden away from their view as they carried the intruder.
As they opened the throne room and marched to Rogvald, the guards let go of the intruder, but stayed next to him. One of the guards spoke, "Lord Rogvald, we've caught the intruder. What shall we do with him?"

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxxA hunched back faced the guards as they brought in the would be taker of the advisor's life. Rogvald did not move as he heard them enter or even when they asked what to do with their captive. "You shall..." he began. "leave him." The guards looked at each other oddly. "He is bound, is he not? Leave us. I shall speak to him alone." One of the guards began to speak against such an order, but Rogvald jerked his head and glared at him. "I said... leave us. But first, did you by chance find any currency on his person?"
xxxxxOne of the guards took a pouch of gold and walked over to Rogvald. "Yes, sir. We found this on him. We figured he stole it, so we brought it here to hand over to you." The guard handed it to Rogvald, then stepped back.
xxxxx"Good man. Now leave." Rogvald waited for the doors of the throne room to shut behind the guards before turning around. He knew the man would not be a threat- The Masked Phantom and his subordinate were likely watching. He fondled the pouch of gold and gems in his hands and carefully examined the insignia on the pouch. He chuckled softly. "Oh, my. Lord Eyris was correct to worry, it seems. How pride can blind people. Dear Lord Raetia's ego is so big, he did not stop to think that the pouch he used to hold your payment could mark him as your employer. Although, I suppose he did not suspect that you would fail in your attempt." Rogvald looked up at the assassin, chuckling. "He recruited you to kill King James and I, didn't he? You don't have to confirm it- he probably hid himself from you. But this is his crest on the pouch, with his individual marking, meaning it was he who dispatched you."
xxxxxRogvald covered the pouch with his sleeve and when he hand showed again, the gold had disappeared into his robe. "But I wonder... if presented with a better offer, say... three times as much as you were being paid, would you perhaps be interested in switching employers? Your task would be simple. Just kill your former employer, Lord Raetia." He pressed his fingers together in a contemplative manner. "If you should decline, you are more than free to leave and try to take my life another day, only to be stopped again and that time have no mercy shown upon you... Or, you can take my offer, take out a much easier target, and get paid much more for it." He grinned crookedly. "So what shall it be, shadow warrior?"
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

"Rogvald, you should know," the mysterious man began, "That switching sides mid-contract is against my policy." There were a few moments of silence as Volke staired into Rogvald's eyes. Then, the bindings that were around the assassin's wrists fell. "However, Sir Advisor," he said with a smile, "You currently have my payment, which, to me, says I didn't have a contract to begin with." Volke raised his hands so that Rogvald could see the pair of blades that came from the assassin's vambraces. "So, you've got yourself a deal, as long as you tell me where I can find this man AND give me the weapons that I had back."

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxxRogvald snickered at how the man got out of his binds. He had not expected them hold one whose profession involved getting around easily. The man had been searched, but vambraces were scarcely thought of to hold blades, or at least they were to the guards, apparently. It didn't matter. Rogvald was not in any danger.
xxxxx"Very well." he began. "As for his location, he seems to be keeping himself hidden. I doubt he would be found in his manor. However, I do believe he would come if summoned to an event. I believe I will move up the former captain Rath's execution to be in a few days. He will be out in the open during that time- a perfect target for you. As for your weapons..." He raised his hand and snapped as if summoning someone. "I do believe they were probably collected. The Masked Phantom is very thorough, even if he does drag on his endeavors out of pleasure." He turned his head. "Isn't that right?"
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

"Dear advisor, you've wounded me," A figure emerged from the shadow as he placed his hand over his heart. There was a mocking tone of pain in his voice when he spoke. "You've make it sounds like I was bored from my job and wanted to have spice it up. I must say, I'm quite offended. Oh yes, indeed I am. So why so serious?"
When he approached, the masked assassin tossed a brown bag at the feet of the captured man. It made a small metal clash noise as it landed on the floor. The smiling assassin whipped out Baselard and lightly tapped it against his cheek as he walked toward the assassin.
"I must say you've had nice props." The Cheshire man complimented as he lightly tapped Baselard against Volke's chest.
"However," He spoke as he placed the weapon firmly against the chest, letting Volke grasped his weapon back. "I prefer my own props better. Much more suitable for me."
He then took few steps back until he was behind the advisor, smiling devilishly at the assassin. He could have just disappear after giving the weapons back, but oh no, he decided to stay in view. Oh yes, indeed he did. But why staging upfront? No one knew. Surely, there must be a reason for his staying.

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxx"Well, there you are." said Rogvald, once the weapons were given back. "Come to me after the execution, once you have taken out your target. You will receive your payment then. Now leave us. The Masked Phantom and I have business to discuss. You will be able to sneak away. Remember; two days from now will be your chance."
xxxxxRogvald waited for the assassin to make his remarks or whatever and then waited for him to leave. He then waited for a signal from the Masked Phantom to make sure that the man really had left the castle. Once it was clear, the advisor stepped over to the weapons and turned to his aid in the mask. "Now then, on to why you are here." He waved to the legendary weapons. "Magnificent, aren't they? Three are missing, one unable to be obtained in Learania, now. However, the other two will be recovered in time. For now, we will proceed as discussed. You will transport these weapons to the safe location that I have previously instructed." Rogvald glanced about the room, sure that the white-haired assassin was there, somewhere. "Your subordinate will remain here, with me. I have need of him. It seems that troops outside the capital have been moving about without proper authorization. I suspect the former captain is not yet without resources- his reach is troublesome. He has some kind of connection on the outside. I would have your man discover who and end him."
xxxxxThe wrinkled hands of Rogvald moved behind him and locked fingers. "Now then, I suggested you-" Aloud knock boomed upon the throne room doors, followed by several more. "Someone comes. Quickly, g-" Rogvald turned his head back to where the Masked Phantom was, only to see that he had already hidden himself. The advisor snickered. "Come in!"
xxxxxThe doors were then pushed open and a guard rushed in, closing the distance between him and the old man. "Lord Rogvald!" he called. "I bring urgent news! The convoy we sent to escort the prisoners to the Grand Prison was ambushed. The one that got away said it was bandits. They left a message daring us to come after them along with a map, showing their hideout. What shall we do?"
xxxxxRogvald's eyes twitched. "Bandits indeed!!" he exclaimed. "Who do they think to fool?! Bandits would not be aware of when the prisoners were being taken to the Grand Prison! Bandits would not let any soldiers get away! Bandits would not give a map to their hideout! This is obviously foul play with the guild members! It is treason!!"
xxxxx"But... sir!" the soldier interrupted. "Even if it was other-worlders who did this, they're not in the guild anymore. Many quit after the trial and when the new laws were announced. Whispers of a resistance have surfaced within the city."
xxxxx"Bah!" Rogvald whipped his hand around, angrily. "It makes no difference! They quit to spare their guild and save it from being disbanded. Well, good move on their part, but it is still them just the same! I cannot touch the guild, but I can treat them as the criminals they are!" He patted his fingers together one by one, faster and faster, as he contemplated his move. "What to do, what to do... Perhaps they would enjoy seeing one of their precious crew members sent on a suicide mission to Sires. I'm sure a small battalion of wyverns led by Sir Heath would be defeated easily enough! That would let them know I am serious. The white-streaked fool is still taking orders from Rath, anyway." He shook his head. "No, no, that would be too drastic. It would anger even the true Learanians. Hm... I suppose attacking them on sight would be too far, as well."
xxxxxThe soldier looked on, mortified that the advisor would even contemplate such a maneuver. It seemed the old man was thinking of using brutal force. "Sir, forgive me, but... most of us soldiers do not wish to fight these people. We have fought beside them for several years now- many of these other-worlders are honorable!"
xxxxx"I do not believe I asked for your opinion, soldier." Rogvald spat as he glared, wide-eyed. "You are soldiers and will do what you are commanded." He looked away and sighed. "Still... maybe a more peaceful route would be better." He grinned at the idea that came to him. "Yes, yes... that would be much better." He hurried over to a small table by the weapons, took a sheet of parchment, lifted the quill and began to write. "We will send a messenger group to them. First they will be requested to disband this rebellion of theirs. If they decline, this message will be given. I will have the King meet with them personally at the designated location tomorrow evening, the night before Rath's execution. They will have their chance to voice their grievances then. I'm sure they will not dispute the location- It would be unfair to hold such talks here or anywhere in the city just as it would be to hold it wherever they are. South-west of Fefga Manor, in the woods by the foot of the mountains, will serve perfectly." The quill was placed back into its holder and the parchment was rolled up. "However, I am unsure where to send any such group, as I do not know where these scum have held themselves up."
xxxxxThe guard sighed and grinned. He was happy that such a peaceful sounding idea. "Yes, sir. I do not know either, but... I have a good idea. The other-worlders have used one place on more than one occasion in such times as these. I will gladly go there."
xxxxxRogvald handed the parchment off to the soldier. "Good. Inform Commander Valter of this and have him send Captain Vaida as the leader of this group. Of course, he is more than welcome to go along, if he would somehow desire to."
xxxxx"Yes sir! Thanks you for this peaceful resolution!" The soldier left in a hurry, greatly desiring to have peace be brought back.
xxxxxUnsettling laughter escaped the advisor after the doors to the throne room shut behind the guard. "Peace indeed... ...Masked Phantom!" Rogvald turned around and stepped back over to the weapons. "I have to attend to a few matters in preparation. It would be good to have these weapons on their way before this room has anymore visitors." He then turned and went on his way, leaving through a back exit. He had some preparation to take care of, indeed.
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"
“So he sends me to do monkey work!” exclaimed Vaida, once informed of what that geezer had ordered of her. “Infuriating. Simply infuriating! Bah… I suppose I have no choice.” She looked over to the guard that had come from Rogvald. “You there, get a squad ready. We will leave immediately.” Once the guard was gone, Vaida turned to her belongings and began to prepare, herself. “First he sentences me to death, then he threatens my men, and then promotes Valter and gives him my weapon! Now he gives me lowly jobs such as this. Bah!” She aggressively pulled her glove onto her hand, followed by the next and then picked up her sword, which even though belonged to her had been rarely used. While Vaida continued to get ready, she was interrupted by one of her soldiers. Mihira, looking shocked and confused, ran into her captain’s room. “C-commander… you’re out of prison! How?! I thought… I thought you were…” Vaida latched her scabbard onto her belt and turned around as Mihira ran in. “Yes, I’m out. That old b*****d threatened your safety if I didn’t comply. It wasn’t a hard decision.” After finishing strapping everything up, Vaida was ready to leave. “But now’s not the time to talk, I’ve been given an order to give a message to this resistance we’ve been hearing about. They’re probably holding up in Fefga’s. I’m on my way there now, so if you don’t mind, get out of my way.”Mihira gasped. “Commander, you… you can’t do this. It’s all my fault… you took my punishment and now you’re being used!” She shook her head. “Please don’t let him order you around like this… it isn’t right! Let me take the fall..!”“Mihira… Shut up!!” Vaida glared at the scout. “This was my choice. I did what I had to do! You want to help me? Then grow up!” The words seemed to echo in the room. “Bad things happen and we have to live with it! We are soldiers and will do what we are commanded, regardless of who is commanding it. If I had been a better soldier in the past, maybe Zephiel wouldn’t have turned out the way he did!” She looked away from Mihira and stepped passed her. “Don’t you dare tell me that you’re too scared or that all you can do is mope and blame yourself!! If all you can do is cry... then you don’t deserve to be looked upon by anyone. I had wanted you to come with me, but if you won’t then just stay here and prove to yourself that you are as worthless as you think you are.”As Vaida left the room, Mihira couldn’t manage to say another word or force herself to move. Her eyes welled up at the things her captain had said. It was one of the harshest things anybody had ever said to her. But Mihira was weak. She was scared and she did think that everything was her fault. She thought she started the war by disobeying orders. So many deaths were on her head. She had to believe that she was useless. She couldn’t do anything.
Mihira fell to her knees and lowered her head into the palms of her hands… and wept alone.

Rogvald's message had given him permission to meet with the rebels, but Valter would have gone anyway. He knew that, if things went south, that Vaida wouldn't be able to handle them all. His former comrades were tougher than that. Besides, he would like to possibly scout them out. Get an idea of how many they had in their ranks. Battles weren't won by charging in blindly, and the Commander had no intention of making such a stupid mistake. If he was really lucky, they might even open up after seeing a familiar face, though he hadn't known many of them too well. He couldn't count on such developments, but all things considered, there was no disadvantage to him going.
Vaida would have taken at least a few troops. Valter doubted that he would need to take more than a few people, but he decided on taking a select few of his personal guards, just in case. Clutching his new spear, the wyvern knight climbed onto his mount and took off toward Fefga manor, two of his guards in tow. They would arrive soon.

This wasn't a pleasant new land to be in. People having to fight one another, and this advisor. He just gave a bad air around. Whatever was up his a** would certainly reveal itself later.
Wyvern troops were sent out and away from the city. Good thing Zeiss hadn't applied to join that cause, since he would be off for a battle again. Besides, this downtime was what he needed. There was nothing here that was familiar to him outside of the few people he had recognized.
Moving around guards, he slowly made his way through the quarters, and soon heard the sound of weeping. Sadness wasn't the best to be filled with alone, so Zeiss went towards the sound.
The surprise he was in for was seeing Mihira there. He hadn't seen her since...sometime with Miledy. "What's wrong? Have a bad day Mihira?"
