Which guitarists/bands inspire you to play guitar? Do they effect the way you play? If so, how? For example, I've really been into Scale the Summit recently, and I have found myself playing more melodic riffs with more slides.

For me, it's really anything progressive in some way. Symphony X started it with Michael Romeo's shreddingly melodic solos... then the torch was passed to Cynic and Paul Masvidal with his jazz influenced metal, and now it's at Periphery and Bulb's djenty, Meshuggah influenced riffing/noodling.

I've had the pleasure of watching Paul Masvidal play twice, and his playing blows my mind. Truly a unique individual with a one of a kind band.

You are a very, very lucky man. I missed them when they came to where I live... it sucked big time.

For me its anyone who can play guitar and sing at the same time:b

Matt Tuck - Bullet For My Valentine
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson - Katy Perry
Valerie Anne Poxleitner - Lights
Matt Heffy - Trivium

All of these guys make me want to get better at both vocals and guitar.

Talent goes a long way. :3
