Raiden wasn't expecting to see much of Haruka around. Especially since it had been so long since they had talked, and he hadn't put forth any real effort. That was way too embarrassing the last time. He had felt like going out on a limb, and it had ended in a much more awkward relationship than he had hoped. Maybe they were just destined to be stuck in that forever awkward state. This was clarified even more when he opened his eyes at the sound and smell that had followed her into the room. He was attempting to get straightened up in his chair when she stepped around him and was about to try to place his legs on the ground when she slammed the pan onto the desk. Normally, this wouldn't have been such a problem, but the air felt so off and he had almost been asleep. So, he just kind of kicked off, attempting to get a solid foot on the ground and ended up spiraling backwards. He then wanted to try to save himself by gripping for the desk, but this turned into an entirely awkward flapping of his arms that looked a lot like a giant bird. He then plummeted onto the floor and laid there, eyes wide open and arms sprawled out at both ends. He was in a state of shock and had no real idea of what he should even say to make this situation any better. He didn't even notice the small muffin rolling across the desk; his eyes were fixed on a specific spot on the ceiling.
He finally realized that this wouldn't help anything and took a deep breath. "Hello. Haruka." He let the words escape slowly and separately. He had no idea what else he should say; no idea where to start after a year had passed. Had it been sooner, he may have been more likely to ask her about something, but he had no idea what she was even doing these days. He attempted to avoid the topic at all costs when around her mother, as well. His brain was zooming with all of the things he could say, but would not. Everything kept coming back to one thought that was etched clearly into the back of his mind: what if she had someone? He couldn't just step in on some other guy's turf. But, surely she hadn't. They had something, right? She knew he liked her, and he had assumed the adorable shade of green she had turned when him going on a date had come up meant that she liked him. He let out a weird mumble that was supposed to have been a thought, but ended up as flowing out of his mouth. This situation was only getting better. He decided that after that weird noise, something had to be said. The only problem with that was he didn't give himself anytime to think it through. Still avoiding even starting to look towards her, he began. "How are... Erm, how have... been... you... uh. Doing?" Each word had progressively gotten louder. The first had seemed like a whisper to him, but it was only caused by the overpowering throbbing in his head. He forced a smile after hearing himself scream doing and continued to lay on the floor.
