The water was still. Lifeless.
He thought once more about his inquiries before he met Acere earlier. Cora, Cora. He missed her so much yet he felt numb to his longing. Soft Wind felt so much love towards Acere, it drowned his sorrow only to leave guilt behind. He will never forget Cora.
He moved his head away from the light as the sun shined into his eyes. It was officially dawn and the sky was starting to turn into the sky blue he was accustomed to during the day. He could feel his eyes grow heavy. It was time to return to his tribe and sleep.
Turning to Acere he touched their heads together lovingly. "Do you want me to walk with you closer to your lands?"

She peered up into his eyes - his two, normal eyes - as their heads touched. For a moment Acere simply cooed, enjoying the gesture and his warmth in the dawn's chill, but then she gave a soft shiver. Walk closer to...her lands? That would not be acceptable. "Yes, but at the same time, no. My dear, if you think that the Adahy are cruel to the Di'taki they capture..." It took all of her strength not to shake her head and pull away from him. Even to her normally emotionless self, the unspeakable things that the Di'taki did to their captives made her want to run away into the forest and hide.
The oncoming light did nothing to her. Acere knew there would come a time when they would be together again, or else...She could feel the weight of the dead water pressing on her. The humidity was rising as the sun was reflected faintly on the lake. Finally, she managed to stir and pull herself apart from him. The Di'taki's ten eyes blinked in unison, and she nuzzled his maw lightly. "It is that time again, isn't it."

Soft Wind frowned at Acere's worried tone. He really didn't know much about her culture or her way of life. He didn't know how she spent her days, how she acted among the family that she had. Or even if she had a family at all. A tribe maybe, but a family...
"Yes... It's that time again." He gave her one last tender touch before he forcibly pulled himself away. "When shall we meet again?"

She hesitated for a moment. If it were up to her, they would meet every night, but that was clearly an impossibility. It would arouse too much suspicion and be too stressful on them both. "At the half-moon?" Soon, but not too soon. Perfect.

He nodded in agreement. "Until then."
He looked in her eyes, unwilling to leave yet the crushing pressure on his heart screamed at him to run away. "I wish you well until we meet again Acere. Be safe."

Acere matched his gaze, second for second. It was always so hard to say good-bye, even though it was necessary. "You as well, dear." She loitered for a moment, continuing to draw in the mud, before she began to make her way back into the forest. To others, it may have appeared that she was abandoning him, but in reality, she was saving him the pain of having to leave her.
She disappeared into the undergrowth, her heart going back to its normal, silent state. Catch prey, taking it back to the tribe, sleep, wake, catch prey...That would be what she would do for a full fourteen sun-cycles, before she could feel emotion again.
((What's next for these two? Do you want to do another RP or wait awhile or what?))

He looked to the lake as Acere finally faded into the darkness of the forest. "Cora... Cora... Acere..."
He looked down to the mud and saw how Acere's footprints compared against his own. Her fingers were long, unlike the average Adahy female. So different.
Eventually he left to go back to his tribe for rest, with the sun beating against his back.FIN
