A tail thumped heavily against the sand, lifting some of it to get caught in the passing breeze. It would have been an understatement to say that he was bored. As the water began to rise further each time it crashed onto the shore, he finally decided to move, his joints popping as he rose. Just how long had he been laid out there? It was hard to tell at this point, but the sun had made quite a journey across the sky. Stretching, the water washed over his paws as he glanced back, up the beach. Even from this distance he could still see familiar forms gathered, a rather large group.
Ever since the birth of his three baby aunts, his mother had been spending more and more time with her mother, helping to take care of them. She had caught up to him at the edge of the jungle, asking him to come back with her to see the little ones and offer help, as well. He had been reluctant, not wanting to be tied down, but he couldn't say no to that sad face of his mother's (as false as it was) and now here he was.
By now, Loa was beginning to believe that this had been a pointless trip. Yes, he thought all of his little aunts were cute and yes, he wanted to play with them. But the two females he was closest to were monopolizing the cubs' time and he could barely get a paw in edgewise. Though he couldn't remember much from when he was that young, he was positive that his mother hadn't been so excited while raising him and his siblings.
Huffing, he turned away from the view of endless water and paced up towards his family. After more thought, he had decided to head back to the jungle now. He wouldn't tell them that, they would probably just make him stay. Instead he would fib, tell them that he was just planning on taking a walk through the village or something. Surely they would forget about him soon after he had left, anyway. In fact, they already seemed distracted and uninterested when he finally reached them to let them know. Well fine, whatever. Stretching one last time, he moved on.

In the jungle, a large feline rested. But rather than being nestled in a bush or hollow tree trunk, the balam could be found lounging among the branches of a tree. If it wasn't for his wings, he may not have been able to haul his large mass into the tree with climbing alone. A fluffy tail flicked as it dangled overhead as he roused from his dozing, slowly.
Tlaloc had wandered far, trying to locate a specific spot to call home. This wandering causes him to travel pretty far from his daughter from time to time. This wasn't much concern for him, as it seems that she enjoys venturing out as much as he did. When they did reunite, it was a joyous occasion -though he rarely showed it on his face-. At this point of time, his roving brought him to the jungle. The trek was long and had tired him out, thus causing him to rest the night in the tree, away from the poisonous creatures on the ground.
So now, being more awake than asleep, he gave out a large yawn as he carefully stood up on the branches he had sprawled himself across. Being careful of his footing and tucking his wings, he made his descent, branches creaking and cracking some from under his weight.
