Athena's Library Intro

Hello, I'm Athena and welcome to my library. It is filled with greek myths and legends of our past, and I'm willing to share all I know with you

First, I am going to start with the basics: where the greek gods and goddesses came from (for all that don't know)

Zeus

Zeus is the ruler of the gods; he resides on Mt. Olympus and reigns over the Heavens. His weapon is the thunderbolt and his symbols are the eagle and the bull.
Zeus's parents were Cronus and Rhea, the Titans. Cronus had recieved a prophecy that he would soon be overthrown by one of his own children, so to avoid this, after every child was born, he would swallow it. When Zeus was born however, Rhea hid him in a basket under a tree and instead, Cronus swallowed a rock wrapped in a blanket.
After Zeus had grown, he forced his father to spit out his other siblings and thereafter, overthrew him and became the king of the gods.
Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades drew lots to divide their territory. Zeus got the sky, Poseidon got the sea, and Hades ended up with the underworld.
Zeus married his sister Hera, but had many affairs with other women, which enraged her. Some of his children he had with other women include Aphrodite, Apollo, and Persephone.

(Zeus is also my father)

Hera

Hera is queen of the goddesses. Her parents were Cronus and Rhea, and she was born at the island of Samos or at Argos. Even though Zeus was her brother, they ended up married. Zeus had disguised himself as an injured bird and Hera, feeling pity towards it, she held it close to her to keep it warm. Zeus then transformed back into his god form and raped her. To cover the shame, she agreed to marry him. Zeus, however, has many affairs with her, and Hera often wanders off when she's fed up with him, hoping that he will miss her and seek her. Unfortunately, she always gives up and returns, unsought by Zeus. She also torments the spouse of Zeus's other lovers, especially Hercules. Some of her children are Ares, Hephaestus, and Hebe.

Athena

Athena is the goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, justice, and skill. She is oftened refferred to as Queen of the Heavens. Her birth was more than unusual, it was amazing!
Athena's parents were Metis and Zeus. When Metis was pregnant with Athena, an oracle prophesized that Metis would give birth to a child destined to overrule Zeus on the throne, but Zeus would not stand for that. Once he caught Metis off guard, he opened his mouth and swallowed her whole! Metis continued to work on Athena's battle armor even when she was inside Zeus. While she was hammering away on Athena's helmet, Zeus got the mother of all headaches! Hephasteus came to his reacue by splitting open Zeus' skull. Drastic to say in the least, but effective nonetheless. Then out sprang Athena! Fully armored and ready for battle, she instantly became her Zeus' favorite child. She alone was given access to Zeus' thunderbolts and his fearsome Aegis, something like a cloak that renders Athena invincible.
Athena may be the goddess of war, but she often tried to resolve conflict through meditation, only turning to violence as a last resort. She never lost a battle, even to Ares. She was more tactful and strategic than he; great generals and wise captains often go to Athena for advice.
Athena didn't know much about love; her mother was eaten and by her own father, so she didn't have any maternal guidance either though she did teach young women to cook and weave and other arts. There wasn't a god nor mortal who could turn her head; she was unswayed by the spells of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and the girdle has no effect on her.
Athena's symbols are the olive tree, aegis, spear, helmet, and an owl, symbolizing wisdom.

Divine Retribution
~~~~~~~~~~~
Nemesis
The known goddess of Divine Retribution. Defining of the gods and goddess will make any mortal wish they haven't when they meet Nemesis. When the gods and goddess ask for tribute, do it without question, if they ask for you to commit to their bidding do not back talk or else you will meet me.....and it'll be the last day for you as the condemned
