On every monitor across the Empire, the citizens watched. Supreme Imperator Remus Fletcher took to the podium. Bulbs flashed as the press took pictures. Remus cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Hello, Rome. This is your Supreme Imperator. In the last few months, it has come to our attention that hundreds of small planets along the outer regions of our galaxy have been invaded. As you know, some of these worlds were home to a few Roman citizens trying to make a living. But not only have we been affected by this, but many other species have as well. Our Maltir allies reported that one of their listening outposts was overrun by an unknown force. Kendari patrol craft have also reported strange vessels amassing along their borders. We believe that the Lenaar may be an ally to this nation, as our intelligence has reported them stockpiling weapons and an increase of shipbuilding."
Remus paused for a moment before continuing.
"The nation I speak of is the Dragonheart Empire. It is led by a terrible warlord by the name of Emperor Cort. He is merciless and power hungry. Cort must be stopped at all costs. He is threatening our very way of life. Dear Rome, I will not idly stand by and let this happen. I will gather our forces and bring the fight to his home turf. We will not stop until his empire....no, regime lies in ruins and the Galactic Roman banner waves proudly above his broken monuments. As of right now, we are now officially at war."
The Imperator walked away from the podium, his security team pushing back the reporters who were asking a million questions at once. The feed then cut out, going to a commercial break.

The Prime Legatus stood by his Imperator, his Friend and was always one to question as he spoke out.
"So we're finally going to war with this guy eh? This is going to be one hell of a fight, Plus he's got Romulus on his side still right? Look, Im just worried about the people But if you need Me and my Men I'll always stand by you and destroy the enemy."
Visher was always one for war but even he knew what challenge's waited ahead, As a soldier walked by Visher stopped him and sent him and a team to gather his things along with a Pen & Note paper.
"We're gonna need the other's, I just hope the decision they make is right."

The Imperator ran a hand through his hair. He still wasn't sure if he had made the right decision. Rome had already seen enough war, but Cort wasn't leaving him much choice.
"Romulus is merely Cort's stooge at the moment. He has no real power."
Remus paused for a moment, thinking. "I'm going to lead the main forces against the bulk of the Dragonheart military. I need you to take your legions and harass his weak points. I need you to pick at his supply convoys and break his factories. If you can cut off his vitals, crushing his forces will be a cakewalk. We'll discuss the details and plan of attack when we can find a more secure location."
The Imperator paused again. "Vish, give me an honest opinion. Did I make the right choice? I have a child on the way and I didn't consult Empress Kaok about this yet. I could potentially miss the birth of my child because of this."

Jester approached the two, glasses on his face, and clipboard in his hands. "Imperator, the newest line of Omen Class has finished production, and inspectors report that the communication problems have indeed been fixed by the shipwrights. We have also succeeded in reaching all active ships, including those that were busy with the mining incident, and all are ready to mass in defense of Rome. Is there anything else sir?"

Remus nodded to Jester. "Very good, Jester. We're going to need all available shipyards to produce more warships. If possible, we may need to retrofit some freighters with weapons. Oh and make sure we keep our trade routes outside of the Empire well defended. Cort will no doubt target them. Make sure all incoming ships are identified before letting them dock."
...
"I just had a brilliant idea." Remus leaned in to whisper something to Jester.

"I'll see about the arrangement of our available ships, and relay instructions to trade captains. Second Master Shipwright has also been inspecting old shipyards, I'll contact him about bringing all inactive factories online" Jester replied. He listened to the Imperator closely before looking at his clipboard. "I'll get my brother on that right away, and while I'm at it see if our dear pirate friends would be willing to harass Cort for their dear rivals in the law. I believe their saying is 'better the dog you know, than the wolf from the woods' or something like that." Jester bowed and moved off quickly to take care of the matters at hand.

Though Remus hated enlisting the help of pirates, they were still a better lot than the Dragonheart Empire. Pirates still had some semblance of honor and courage, something Cort had none of. Remus decided he would need to contact Gaila. When he was riding his staff car back to the palace, he picked up the phone and began to contact various mercenary and pirate groups and organizations to offer them a deal.
