Tunnelvision. Something Anon usually suffered from while he was working. His shadowed gaze would focus on the blade of his shovel as it pierced and dug up the dirt. There were a few noises that could draw him out of his mindless work, and Cheryl's wailing was one of them. Blinking and looking around as though surprised, he tried to locate where his little girl could be; it was hard to do in a graveyard that carried echoes. He was so caught up with trying to find which direction she was in, that he had to jump back a bit to get out of the way of a very upset woman...who was apparently screaming? What the hell?! Panic now rising, Anon gripped his shovel tightly and, leaping over a tombstone that was in his way, went running towards where he thought Cheryl would be. The way her wails grew louder was strangely comforting; it meant he was right in the direction to take.

He skid to a stop when he came across her, looking around to see if maybe someone or something was hurting her; relief again washed through him when he saw nothing, but that meant something mysterious to him was going on. The shovel abandoned, he knelt in front of her. 'What is wrong?' He signed, forcing himself to go slow despite his worry.

Cheryl continued to wail until she was able to draw herself out of her own little world long enough to realize that Daddy was nearby and now nearby and signing at her. She hiccupped and sniffed pathetically as she tilted her head to bury her face into the back of Robbie's head to wipe away the tears as she whimpered and tried very, very hard to pay attention to what Daddy had said to her she was too upset to return the gesture in kind as she explained, "I...I c..came..I.to...to see light that..th..the lady had..a..and..SHE CALLED ME A DE..DE..DEMON," she started to wail again very upset at the insult.

She hadn't meant any harm! Cheryl just wanted to see the pretty light and to make friends and...That lady was mean and pushed her!

Anon's gaze had dropped to see her scratched up knees as Cheryl explained the situation, his hood turning once in the direction he had come; the lady that nearly ran into him...that was the one who had hurt Cheryl's feelings? Frowning heavily, his hands clenched into fists for a moment, and once she started to wail loudly his frown softened and his hands loosened. Poor girl...that was definitely not nice! Demon was definitely not a word to describe her! 'You are not a Demon. You are a good girl.' He signed slowly, hoping she caught it. Feeling rather sorry for her, he reached out to lovingly gather his daughter into his arms, pulling her and Robbie onto his lap as he sat down on the grass and dirt. He rubbed her back, intending on letting her cry as much as she wanted to; he certainly wasn't going anywhere.

She had caught the signs through blurry tear-filled eyes and was more than happy to let Daddy pull her onto his lap along with her Robbie. Cheryl whimpered and cried softly as she held onto her friend and let Daddy hold onto her. Daddy said she was a good girl and that he wasn't a demon. Cheryl started to calm down once more now that she was in contact with someone she loved and would do anything for. She buried her face into Anon's chest and went still for the most part other than the odd whimper and sniffles that often came after a nice bout of uncontrolled weeping.

Cheryl reached up and gripped at the fabric of Daddy's hoodie as if afraid he might disappear if she didn't do so. "D..Daddy I..I just wanted to see the li...light. Honest..I..It was pretty..." small quiet voice as she continued, "I hate her...I..I want her dead," Cheryl said in a firm quiet voice. It was disturbing to hear such words in such a sweet little voice.

He let the poor girl cry as much as she wanted to, silently rubbing her back as he had no other way to make her feel better. He tensed a bit when she grabbed his hood, but he made himself relax soon after; she of course had his complete attention when she started to talk again. Needless to say, her words disturbed him. He tapped on her head with a gloved finger, trying to get her attention, to make her look at him enough to sign. 'Now Cheryl...you probably just scared her. People do and say mean things when they're scared. You should not wish death on them for it.' He was trying to word this as gently as possible. 'If you do, you are lowering yourself to their level, and that makes you more mean than they are.'

She naturally looked up at the tap upon her head and stared at the signs as they were made by Daddy's hand concentrating on them as best as she could. Cheryl frowned a bit and bowed her head after he was done signing. She hadn't taken it badly nor was she really upset but still. Quietly she looked back up at Daddy as she tugged at Robbie's ears out of a bit of frustration, "Buh...but she was so mean...she sa..said I was wea...wearing another per..person's face a..and she pushed me..." she explained with a bit of a whine hitching at the back of her voice as she tried to justify her ill will toward the lady.

'People can look like others. I met someone who looked just like Uncle Stitches. Maybe you reminded her of someone she lost, and she got scared.' There was a little pause in his signing as he took off his gloves, setting them aside so he could brush a hand against her cheek, tucking some hair very lightly behind her ear. 'We are in a graveyard. These stones are to remember those we lost...but there are also a lot of stories about scary things in Graveyards, especially the Zombies. It is very normal to us, but to outsiders, it is very scary to see people like us wandering around here. They just do not know any better.'

Cheryl watched the signing carefully comprehending it due to constant exposure and help from those that translated when they were able to. She leaned a bit into the hand that brushed her cheek and sniffed a bit as she continued to listen patiently as Daddy countered her point with his own and finally she relented and nodded a little, "S..Still not fair," she sulked quietly as she leaned her head to rest against Daddy's chest for a moment, "I...I just wanted to see the light..I..I wasn't going to hurt her.." she mumbled softly with a frown. "I..won't hurt her if that is what Daddy wants..." she promised quietly.

It wasn't fair, he agreed with her. It wasn't fair that they had to endure what they did, but at least he was used to it by now. The twins were still young, and very affected by what adults did, especially the thoughtless ones. In his constant silence he listened to her, and when she gave him the promise, he tightened his hug around her, lovingly squeezing her against his chest, his breathless nose burying into the hair on her head. After a moment he released her and moved to stand, lifting her up with him. Well, she wanted to look at the light, right? There wasn't any reason why she couldn't. He just had to find it, really. It only took him a second or two, and he stretched out a hand, pointing at it for her.

The small girl returned the embrace her sobbing had become soft quiet hiccups before even the hiccups quieted to small little involuntary hitches in her breathing when she stood Robbie draped to the ground at her side, she still held onto his paw. She had said a good thing or so she felt she had otherwise Daddy wouldn't have hugged her like that! She stared up at him quietly and then looked where Daddy pointed and once again she became transfixed. Her eyes widening and a small thin smile appearing upon her lips it was so pretty! Quietly she wandered toward it dragging Robbie along and pulling at Daddy's hand as far as it would go before he either followed her or made her stop.

Anon watched her when she realized what he was pointing at, a bit of surprise lighting his shadowed features when she seemed entranced by it. For now he could only settle for watching; her grip on his hand effectively silenced him. When she started to move, he followed; but he was ready to snatch her away from it if she got too close. He didn't want his little girl burned after all! That would be bad, Very very bad.

He followed her and she let out a happy humming sound from the back of her throat. Yes, Daddy should see the pretty light too! Everyone should see light it was wonderful and comforting she stopped a bit away from the memorial light that belonged to the grave of a small girl much like herself and she leaned a bit staring at it, "Isn't it pretty? It's so pretty." she murmured softly her voice felt odd and disconnected, "This light dances..."

Anon nodded. Yes yes, the light was very pretty. Yes, it danced. He knew why it did; but he couldn't exactly tell her. Well...actually, he could. Kneeling down to be more at her level, he spelled out 'FIRE' with his free hand. He didn't know if she'd ever seen it; he knew if she did, it wasn't by him. Still, he was being helpful in letting her know why it danced! After he felt it was long enough, he tapped her head to get her attention, then gestured back towards the crypt.

She focused on him again the only being greater than light was Daddy. She watched rapt as he spelt out the word 'Fire' and understood it for the most part a pale hand reached toward the flickering flame there was an urge within her to touch it to feel if it had a heartbeat. Even if she wasn't entirely within touching distance she felt the warmth and she let out a small happy sound from the back of her throat. She wondered, briefly, if that woman's blood was this warm...

Cheryl blinked out of her thoughts and stared up at Daddy and sighed a bit, "O..Okay..."

Anon had been ready to grab her hand away from the flame in the event she got too close, but luckily she stayed away from actually touching it. Thankfully unaware of her thoughts, the Cadaver nodded and released her hand, instead hooking his gloved hands under her arms to pick her and Robbie up, letting her sit on his hip. Making a mental note to where the plot was so he could tell someone to put it out before it burned something, he turned and headed back to the crypt, his daughter in tow.

The small strange girl let him pick her and Robbie up her head moved and draped against his shoulder as she hugged her plush friend in her free arm. She closed her eyes a bit and had a small smile which was a change from when she had been crying a few moments prior, "I love you Daddy~." she murmured softly as they wandered back to their home before she fell silent for the rest of the night.

Anon's hands were too busy of course, but he did manage to convey what he wanted to the girl. There was a small smile on his lips from her murmur, and he returned the gesture by lightly squeezing her against him again, planting a small kiss to the top of her head. Once back in the crypt, he left them only long enough to tell his coworkers about the fire; but after that, he settled down for the rest of the night.
