So, while walking through the mall and listening to the various Touhou songs (O-Life, Iosys and others...) on my Ipod, i was struck with this concept for an Alternative Idea for Touhou's Danmaku play. This idea also has rules and such.

First, taking my previous MMO idea, i would update it to more action than RPG (if i wanted it as a game).

Now onto the rules and how to play "Future" Danmaku.
"Future Danmaku" would both be a fun on the spot sport and graceful act of art in the area. Both the two fighters, and the bystanders. Plus the bystanders are safe as they are not fighting.
How to initiate a Danmaku Duel.
1: Find an opponent with a Hakurei Powered Necklace.
2: Issue a fun Danmaku match by pointing at your target from at least 15 yards and say "I Challenge you to a game of Danmaku!". You can also add "Lunatic" at the beginning of the last word to make a challenge. The person must accept or Decline.
3: Once it begins, both of you have ten seconds to gain distant and prepare to fight.

How you fight.
1: The necklace you own can help project one of many different shapes of Danmaku (Your choice before a match).
2: You can either throw your Danmaku via your hands or project some from behind and aim it in one direction. Do not worry about bystanders being hurt. Danmaku Balls will go through people like nothing even if they have a necklace. The only one's affected will be the two fighting.
3: When you use a "bomb" card, you absorb the Danmaku that hits you while it's being used. More info on rules.

The Rules:
#1: A Five hit rule. When you are hit, you gain immunity from Danmaku for 5 seconds BUT you can't fire in that time line either. Your hit box is the Necklace around your neck.
#2: You can only use a maximum of six Bomb cards and if you are high enough, use one "Time Out" Card
#3:When the person uses a Time Out card, he/she is immune from everything for as long as the card holds (maximum is 90 seconds.) and only ONE time out card at a time.
#4: There is no Easy Mode.

Difference between Normal play and Lunatic:
Lunatic mode reduces the hit count to three.
In Lunatic mode, you can use your Bomb cards more than once, and you can use Time Out cards two times (but not one after another).

The levels. You would obtain them via fights.
Player: Everyone starts at this level. able to use three bomb cards at this level.

Level One Boss: The upgrade. You unlock a Minor Title for yourself.
Level Two Boss: Able to use Four bombs.

Level Three Boss: Unlocks Major Title access.

Level Four Boss: Able to use Five Bombs and unlock Lunatic mode.

Level Five Boss: Able to use the maximum Bomb usage.

Level Six Boss: Unlocks use of Time Out card. The highest you can obtain normally.

Ex-Boss: This is the rarest Rank and only Fifteen Danmaku players can have this rank. Their cards, Title and Type of Danmaku are based on one of the Touhou Characters, also known as "Aspects" (You still have your own cards.). Also they can have a small symbol of the character they reflect on them. (If you are Reimu, you would wear a red bow behind you. If you are Marisa, you wear her hat.)
In order to be an EX-Boss, you have to first be a level six. Then you challenge one EX-Boss to a Lunatic Danmaku Fight. If you beat the EX rank, you become the new EX ranked Fighter. The previous one has a one month waiting period before he/she can fight you again. You also choose your Aspect once obtaining the rank.

If you loose, you will be unable to fight another EX for three weeks. So be wise about who you fight.

I have heard of the game (never played it)
but i think i know what you mean.
The aspect part is the top level only.
The Danmaku type of bullets vary in size, shape and and style.
Nearly any and all shapes can be a bullet. even a Box.

Also i forgot to add that the necklace hit box changes once the battle starts. The hit box is about the size of a baseball in the middle of your chest.

The first three cards you get are copies of other cards. Making a Card is easy but hard to actually pull it off. First, you have to know how to draw and or paint. Second, the art work MUST be above average work. Then put it in a mailbox with a send to: Hakurei Border. Then it's done. Other can copy the card you made, and can have an infinite amount on them. But only a max of 6 can be used.

As far as EX-level player, you can use the cards of the "Avatars" you are attuned with as well.

Danmaku wise, the basic shapes are the bullets (like square or triangle and such). HOWEVER! As an Ex boss, you can have your own danmaku that reflects your character. (Marisa=option to use Star Danmaku)

I see, what are the first thing to make a card, a seal? And how do I tell if it average work?

I keep forgetting things. But yeah, you draw a seal. And average work would mean not too brick like and more smooth.
The Seal image has to be new or try again.

And to the people who laughed at the Hakurei Border joke.
It's funny but true in this world. It's odd but Yukari will take the letter's with that Send To, and hands them to Reimu who will help make the seal. Then she will send it back in another envelope with a Ying-Yang Symbol, Of course Yukari will know where you live with some help.

Ask more questions and i will answer to my ability or add more to it.
