Pale pink blossoms filled the air with their light, crisp scent, some falling from their branches to dance gracefully to the ground. How the gardens kept the cherry trees blooming all year round was a secret, but the results were breathtaking. The lush green grass was a striking contrast to the pale, almost snow-like blossoms filled the air. There was a small, shining koi pond, with fish shimmering like gold under the warm sunlight. A canal snaked its way through the gardens, leading to a small fountain at the garden's center.
Not that the the little green, winged child noticed. The small one ignored the beautiful scene around it and his mother her sat a number of yards away with his siblings, eyes locked on the prize. Keru had spotted a nice, shiny quarter in the koi pond, and it wanted it. It horrified it to think that someone had willingly thrown away such a treasure. The toddler leaned closer to the ground, one arm reaching for the shiny while the other kept a grip on a near-by tree trunk. Keru wanted that shiny, and he was intent on getting it.

Mhairi had, to be completely honest, wandered into the little zen garden of sorts by accident on her search for Dorian. The little brat had managed to escape her sights yet again, meaning she had to go out and hunt down the boy herself. As the beautiful scenery filled the little girl's sights, however, the anger at her brother melted away if not briefly.
Attention diverted, the little siren skipped happily through the pretty blossoms and flowers and nearly ran into someone with large, and yet semi-familiar wings. "Oh! 'Scuse me," she pleasantly apologized upon lightly bumping into it.

Keru looked up at the siren-mix, black eyes regarding her a moment. "'S okay." it said, shrugging as it sat back away from the water, it's eyes glancing back at the shiny to make sure it wasn't moving before looking back to the girl. "Okay?" the green child asked, tilting it's head to the side. Its wings rested against its small back, showing its calm, content demeanor. Keru wasn't too upset about almost being ran into; after all, he hadn't been, and he didn't fall into the water. Two bonuses.
"Keru." the pixie-hatchling declared, pointing to itself. "You?" Again, this was accentuated by a gesture; its small hand waving out towards the girl.

Mhairi giggled, finding the creature rather amusing. It didn't chatter away and seemed intent on getting whatever was in the water, which was an improvement to the usual people she ran across. "I'm Mhairi," she replied with a cute little grin. "So why you keep lookin' in there?" she asked, nodding to the crystal clear water in the pond. Occasional brightly colored fish swam by leisurely, obscuring what might have caught Keru's attention.

The green child offered a small smile in return; it hadn't learn to fear the cute grins yet. It'd learn with time though; that was for sure. "There's shiny in there." the green toddler explained, trying to shoo the fish away so it could show her. "Need it." Obsidian eyes locked on it as it came back into view; there was NO way Keru was going to lose this shiny. No way what. So. Ever.

"I can get it for you," Mhairi commented sweetly, leaning over the edge and looking at the shiny coin. If only Dorian were around to go after it for her, then she wouldn't have to worry about getting wet or caught.
"Well, I think I can get it anyways," she added as an afterthought. It was far enough away to deter people from reaching in, but not far enough away that she'd have to traipse through dozens of gardens to get to it. At least she had that in her favor.

"Really?" Keru asked, its eyes lighting up. This girl was willing to retrieve a shiny for it? The little fella slowly grinned, making a happy little sound in the back of his throat. It wriggled a bit in anticipation; the shiny was going to be its! The shiny was going to its!
Of course, this meant it owed the girl. But he didn't mind that. It was getting a shiny, and that was the important thing. It could pay the girl back after he put his new shiny in its hoard. It looked to the shiny in the water, then back up to Mhairi. "Thanks!" the toddler chirped, beaming at the girl.

Mhairi smiled and nodded. Good, he was going to be indebted to her at last! Sure he probably wouldn't pay her back now, but later... Yes, later she'd reel him in for a favor or get him even more indebted to her and thus her life-long servant. It was perfect!
Maneuvering around the pond a bit for a better angle, Mhairi slipped off her sandal and cautiously stepped into the pond as soon as no one was looking. The fish all scattered, fleeing from her and giving her enough room to place her other foot gently in and quickly snatch up the quarter. She managed to get back without any problems as well, depositing the silvery circle into Keru's hand.
"Here you go~" she giggled, flashing him a deviously sweet smile. Oh, she certainly had him now.

Keru had no idea what the other girl was planning; no inkling of what this small favor might lead to. All that mattered to the little dragonling was the shiny that would soon become a part of its collection. True, it may have just been another quarter, but it was another quarter that wasn't its yet. And, thanks to its new friend, it was now.
Keru's face split into a grin, wings flapping in excitement as the circle of silvery metal was dropped into his hand, little green fingers enclosing around it as he hugged the coin to his chest like a highly-prized treasure. "Thanks, Mhairi!" the little fellow chirped, happy as a peach. He gave the girl a genuinely grateful smile, wondering how he could ever repay her. Well, repay her without parting with shinies, of course.
