[Death Room]
The Death Room is the chamber where Shinigami often resides.Shinigami may be contacted at this location by writing the number 42-42-564 onto a mirror or window. 42-42-564 is pronounced shini-shini-goroshi in Japanese, which literally means death-death-murder.The room contains a mirror, through which Shinigami can monitor students from the Death Weapon Meister Academy as they hunt souls. He is occassionally accompanied by his son Death the Kid and weapon Spirit, as he does so. In the manga, Shinigami is shown to move through the mirror, as he does when Medusa is brought to meet him.The ceiling of the room resembles a bright blue sky filled with white clouds, in contrast to the 'classical' depictions of things related to Death and so quite appropriate for Shinigami. The room is littered with black cross-like shapes extending from the cloudy floor which, according to last episode, is rooted with kishin eggs. In the anime, the sky actually ends up being the only bright piece of scenery left as the insanity wavelength causes the true sky to turn dark red. It is also the scene for the fight between Asura and Shinigami wielding Spirit. That fight seemed to show the room to be of massive size, with the path of archways and the mirror taking up only a tiny amount of the space that is revealed during the aerial battle. The room is also filled with crosses. The entrance is a decorated door that goes to a tunnel of torii gates, which are styled to look like guillotines.
