If you think of it this way, you have to consider the amount of money required of owning a Vocaloid. Miku is the one that changed the popularity of Vocaloid by a big margin. I'd expect tons of people spent money on her. Some might have spent some on Kaito for the duet.
Rin/Len comes out, and you have to yet again, spend money to obtain their voicebanks. Then we have all these other Vocaloids, which means more money... I mean, these programs are pretty expensive for a single person. I assume the Vocaloid users don't have much money laying around the house since they have bills and such to pay for.
Fanmades are of a different story, since you either have owned the original voicebank, or, the voice is already out there for free (like Utaus).
I feel bad the for Vocaloid1 series, because from the sound of it, they are pretty hard to use (sounding normal).

Yen Quest I assume the Vocaloid users don't have much money laying around the house since they have bills and such to pay for. A majority of vocaloid song producers are amateurs or hobbyists, so yup, they usually don't have a lot of cash to regularly spend on luxury goods such as this.

ShionKaitoUke then123 ShionKaitoUke Eh, to me it seems like Luka is very close behind Miku...Luka has pretty much destroyed the twins already. Meiko and Miku got popular at the same time, but Meiko's popularity slowed as Miku's kept going....and Kaito didn't come into the picture as "famous" until that one video of Miku telling everyone not to forget about him (my god thats sad LOL) As far as Miku being the most popular, she was the first Japanese Vocaloid in the 2nd series(Sweet Ann was the first in VOCALOID2) and the people couldn't believe what they were hearing so it just kinda stuck :/ Go Luka! I would be very happy if she got more popular than Miku! Though I would be more glad if it was Rin/Len getting the popularity... ;3 Poor Rin ;3; If Luka was more popular than Miku I'd be soooooooo happy 8D Rin and Len....eh....I like Luka better xD I think Luka's better than Miku cause, well to me her voice is more.....uh.... Well it can change a lot but still sound good xD Like with Miku's, its just about always so high and young sounding it hurts your ears. With Luka, her voice can sound mature and deep like its supposed to, but its also pleasing when she sings high, or if they change the Gender Factor to make her sound younger. o-o So true, so true ;3

Dude, this is a total parallel to UTAU, I mean why Teto always? o_e Se gets a keychain for pete's sake and another real Vocaloid from other companies don't get one?
But the only focusing on Miku thing is dying down a little but the Crytonloids, not really :/

Oh god....Teto......she deserves her popularity even less so than Miku.... Teto needs to disappear and never come back or something, she's just plain ANNOYING.

Well I have a few things to say...
1. Even if genderbends are just 'there', they still need love. D':
2. True, true.Teto really does get ALOT of attention out of the Utaus.I mean, what about the other Utaus?
3. I just want to say, don't go hating Miku now... this topic wasn't supposed to flame her, I just didn't get why she gets alot of attention. :c
4. I just have to say one more thing that a few people posted... I don't think NO ONE would know what Vocaloid is if Miku wasn't around, because probably a lot of people in this world knew about Vocaloid1 before Miku even came out. @_@ For instance, I didn't know about Vocaloid because of Miku, I saw a song by Kaito and THAT'S how I found out about Vocaloid.
But once again, please don't flame Miku, that's really not what I made this topic for...

Teto needs to disappear and never come back or something, she's just plain ANNOYING. ohlawdy Well I do like Teto, but only one video (by the UTAUloid itself) has gotten over 100k views and that's Momo. :I Of course I wouldn't be that harsh...but her getting a keychain and a figure yet nobody coming up with a cool pose for any other vocaloid is kinda weird.. And no, her popularity wouldn't decline yet, since many people follow the vippers and whatnot.. which is PARALLEL to the whole crypton thing The only few times another Vocaloid (as in non crypton) is popular (referring to songs in Weekly Vocaloid) is because: A. Their demo is out/they are released B. It's their birthday C. They duet with a cryptonloid or are in a large chorus with other vocaloids. D.A really really popular producer is using him/her (for example DECO*27, mothy) E. They follow a meme (*this varies) or medley F. They got some event promotion (this barely happens) G. A somewhat known producer uses the Vocaloid in a way nobody has done before (this is rare) H. A popular uttate mitta singer has covered their song I. A lot of people promoted the song, spread chatter about it. amirite or amirite?

First part is true, but before pretty much only the desktop music enthusiasts knew what Vocaloid was. Miku's popularity also gave a notable boost to Crypton's other Vocaloid products and Vocaloid as a whole, so it's probable that if it wasn't for the reception Miku had gotten, you wouldn't have been able to listen to that Kaito song which introduced you to Vocaloid. (Depending on what song it is obviously.) Miku gets/has gotten the most attention because she is the product that catapulted Vocaloid into the spotlight and why Vocaloid is what it is now. Whatever you like or don't like about the character is subjective, but I don't think anyone can argue against that she "started" this huge craze.

Eh, I guess its true.Still, no matter what we do, Miku basically was the one who brought popularity to Vocaloid.
