Have you ever wondered what your online friend sounds like IRL?

Here's one way to chat with them with your voice (without giving your phone number... which is a creepy and dangerous thing to do online) Use Ventrilo. It's usually used for online gaming so players can speak to each other when typing is inconvenient.

AND YOU CAN CHAT IN LARGE GROUPS! It'll be like sitting at a lunch table chatting. Except you don't see each other of course, you can only hear em.

You need:
-Microphone
-optional headphones
-and Ventrilo of course.

And you need to set up a server! There are private and public servers. Here is a public one we can mainly use!.

How to do that....

Well open up that Ventrilo!


You can personally name the server anything you want. :3


After you set up a server and a username, press connect and enter this public server.

I used this back in the day of my Hardcore Runescape playing. Ah the good old days... Had to buy a mic.

But also: you can voice chat with your friends on pretty much any instant messaging service.

If you are just talking to one friend, you can just add them and then click voice call.

Yahoo is the same thing. AIM I don't really know about...

But Yahoo you can invite a lot of people to a conference and go from there. of course you can't play games that well, but this thread is about talking to your friends online, NOT gaming.

So if you have a yahoo, AIM, or MSN account, you can just use that instead of going out of your way to make another
