Rock awoke with a start, suddenly realizing he didn't feel a breeze, and it was still dark. As his eyesight cleared and adjusted, the pup remembered what had happened to him the night previous. He still felt very frightened, and the cave was silent as the grave. The only movement was the tiny sprite-like bugs floating lazily about the glowing mushrooms like motes, and occasionally he would see one dart from the mushrooms to the middle, to the still lake to catch a drink. He was just as amazed now as he had been the night before, but now his mood had changed drastically.

The mushroom he had eaten before setting off to this place had worn down and fallen asleep. He could feel it dying, as though the feelings and happiness were fading away and dissipating quickly over time. All of a sudden, the pup was crying, tears rolled down his sandy cheeks, and he felt completely empty inside. Alone in the world, and he had dug himself into this place where no one could find him. He felt at once as though he should test those waters and let himself sink to the bottom to die in this place. He didn't even feel like trying the new species of shroom he had found.

But the glowers beckoned him with their tiny motes. "Eat me~" they seemed to sing in unison. He didn't know if it was truth or just his messed up mind. "Fine, ok..." he brushed his cheeks with his paws, attempting to dry them. There was no use crying, and he had no idea why he was so sad in the first place. Moving back towards the wall, the pup jumped up, resting his front paws on the wall just below the ledge where the mushrooms were settled happily. He cocked his head as the motes around his chosen mushroom fled, finding new mushrooms to disperse to. After a moment of consideration, the pup opened his jaws and carefully took a medium-sized shroom into his maw, swallowing it down.

Rock closed his eyes as his front paws hit the ground again. He would need to leave here very soon, and turned around to go, careful once again to tip toe around the lake in the middle of the cavern. He squeezed himself back through the tunnel, careful to scoot the dirt back into the opening he had created. He was back in the main cavern, the exit to the outside world was in sight when he heard a noise behind him and froze.

User ImageSearching through the caves of her new packlands LIlith didn't feel a sense of home, she didn't feel a sense of reality a sense of welcome she just felt like she needed to do her best or... She didn't quite know waht came after the or, she never failed in anything she did. Glancing about the caves looked normal, nothing out of the perfection she had created and gracefully started back towards the outside world. In her mind the caves were a good idea, for hidding and taking care of others it was a good place for a large pack to keep everyone hiden if during an attack.

Suddenly she heard it, clawing small pups clawing at dirt, turning around Lilith watched as the pup crawled his way back into the enterence area. If she were human she would have her arms crossed and tapping her toes like a mother ready to scold her childern, oddly enough she didn't feel like that though. She felt the pup needed to explore so she would let him, but he wasn't PART of the pack so she would have to take him off pack lands. She knew the pup would die though... He couldn't have come from a far place that meant.

"You, pup. What is your name and what are you doing in this area?" It should have been blunt to the male pup that Lilith didn't take any s**t, nor did she beat around the bush. Get to it, get it done then get out of there or head home. It was always a set plan in her mind that kept her on her toes, and as beta she always needed to be on her toes.

The pup whirled around when she spoke. He hadn't met any wolf here yet, but she was pretty. He wondered if the others who lived here were dark coated too. "I'm from South Seaside, I have sanctuary here!" he blurted out, suddenly frightened because this surely wasn't the wolf he was told about, the pup-friendly alpha, Samhain.

"I'm Rock." he grinned wide, suddenly feeling as though the caves were moving around him. He felt a great sense of well-being, as though nothing could touch or hurt him. His paws felt cold. He could now see the new glower dancing in his stomach, and the motes accompanied it, flitting lazily about the pup's eyes. He cocked his head slowly, the stupid grin never leaving his face. "How groooovy....." he spoke, his speech very sluggish.

He watched the invisible motes and had forgotten all about the adult female standing a few yards away from him. He was suddenly in his own world, listening to this mushroom's song, so different from the ones who lived in the cool shade of the outside world. These were from the dark, and they gave him an even deeper sense of being and belonging. He stumbled forward a bit, his nose reaching out to gently nudge one of the motes. They dived for him, attempting to get into his nose and mouth, to join once again with their mushroom friend. Rock giggled childishly, his rump plopping to the dirt floor, his fluffy tail wriggling at a hundred miles a minute.

Lilith frowned at the crazy pup before her what was wrong with him? Was he doing this to confuse her, to distract her? No that didn’t make enough sense the pup must be born this way. ‘South Seaside?’ Lilith remembered her alpha telling her about their joining pack and the origin of her new second in command ownership of the place. Alright so that meant she had to bring the pup back to his own pack, which for once made Lilith dislike her job.

She usually didn’t care for emotions but this time if it meant going into large crowds she really didn’t feel comfortable. Sucking it up though Lilith stared the pup down ignoring his oddities and coming forward, “You will obey me while the alpha is away, I am the new Beta.” Easy enough she would pick him up and take him back then come back to her new home in silence, nothing else was needed.

The walls of the cave were... well... caving in. And then bulging back out. How cooool. It kind of made the pup feel nervous, but he knew deep down that they would always go back to normal, some how. Either way, he wished to be out in the moonlight, where he could howl and play, and oh god that lush grass he had come through on the way here. It would be amazing, and he could take his time and really enjoy it on the way home, for sure.

The pup giggled and sidestepped as the beta came near him, hoping to play a game of avoidance with her. She was fun, and though he hadn't met the alpha yet, he wondered if she would be his mate. He needed a girl after what had happened in the pack. Woah, had this been where that wolf was killed? That wolf had been his family... his... um... his. The pup thought really hard for a few minutes, trying to work out the family tie to the dead wolf. His second cousin? And that wolf's sister, the former alpha of this pack, had disappeared after her brother had been killed.

This was so not groovy, and he tried hard to focus back on the mushroom in his belly. It was in a happy loving mood, and he didn't want to kill it by channeling negative thoughts. As he felt his high strengthen, he felt the female moving towards him again. He heard her speaking to him, and it reverbed in his ears strongly, strictly.

"Yes ma'am" he squeaked, the last of his sober notions escaping him after that.

Staring at the young pup made Lilith question her own sanity, there was something seriously going on differently in the mind of this being. There was no time for it though she would rather just get him off their land until she can make a full accountful list with Sam next time for all of the wolves allowed while he is away, it is only right. As Lilith continued her on goings toward the pup she realized he seemed to try and get away from her, in a very lazy fashion… What was he trying to do?

“Still yourself and follow me.” Stern as one can be Lilith turned and headed for the exit, keeping a thoroughly ear out for the pup. It would be a failure on her part of she lost the male pup while trying to clear these new lands. Realization hit Lilith quickly though, she didn’t know how to get to South Seaside step by step, would she have to rely on the pup to get her across? Of course she would, because that was just her luck as of her first day.

Truthfully the wolf didn’t care; it would just prolong her duties for the rest of the day… Stopping in her tracks Lilith turned back to face the pup, “You will have to lead the way since I do not know the layout of your land as of yet.” Would he even understand her in his state of mind?

Rock paused a moment, thoroughly confused by her command. "WAIT!" he called as she began to turn and leave him. "Do I still or... walk with you?" he cocked his head as far as it would turn to the left, nearly looking at her upside down now, one paw lifted off the ground as though his entire body was going to turn that way and flop to the ground. But it didn't, he, for the most part, remained upright.

After a moment of what he could only call an exasperated look from the female, he righted his head and ran to accompany her as she left the dens. He was on her heels in a heartbeat, weaving as he was, and in the tunnel to the outside, he fell over, clacking his head on the dirt wall of the entrance. After a moment of consideration on whether to cry or laugh, the pup burst into an explosion of giggles, wriggling his tail and flailing his paws madly. The pain was hilarious and throbbing, and the roving mushroom in his belly seemed to agree.

The biggest grin ever was plastered across his face as he struggled to his paws. The female was talking to him again, but he had no idea what she was saying now. He rushed ahead of her, his sight going blurry at the pure pleasure of the green grass ahead of him. The pup zipped through the feather-blades, rolling and tumbling, allowing the greenery to tickle his nose, ears, and belly. So happy was he, and the mushroom was making everything so much better than it would have been if he didn't have its company. "Wheeee!~"

Lilith watched in amazement at the oddity of the pup, what was wrong with him! For the first time in a while Lilith could feel her nerves begin to shift into motion, what was she going to do with this crazy pup? What if he had something that she could get and make her just as odd, Sam would surely not wish her to be Beta any more if that were to happen. ‘No I cannot let that happen, there has to be something I can to do heal this creature.’

“Small being stop this foolishness and direct me to your pack so that I may rid myself of catching whatever you have.” Lilith followed after Rock hoping for once that she truly wasn’t right and that she couldn’t get this odd case of crazy.

The purple female following him seemed to get increasingly irate with him. He wasn't trying to make anyone angry, but maybe if she just joined him in his fun, she would feel a lot better. "Dudett-- I mean... Miss... " he stared at her, wondering her age suddenly. She was his mom's age? Maybe? He didn't know, and thought better of asking for now. "Maybe you could play with me!" he grinned even wider, if that was possible. It would be nice to have anybody as carefree as him to romp and have fun with! His family all seemed SO stuck up.

"Awww, C'mon!" he insisted as she denied his invitation to pure blissful fun. He pouted a moment and huffed, his chest puffing out making him look even bigger for just a moment. "Alright~" he said, and began to weave towards where he had first entered the packlands. He could hear the big river, only it sounded even bigger now, with his mushroom to amplify the sounds. How amazingly cool. He couldn't see the bridge, though, and modified his direction to try and find it, looking back every so often to make sure the purple wolf hadn't abandoned him.

"My name is Rock!" he called back to her, extremely pleased with his namesake.

Frowning Lilith could not figure out what was going on at all! Why was he like this why wouldn’t he see the logic in her words to rid herself of this horrid pup like attitude he had, even worse it seemed like he was experiencing a sense of hallucination like that of what her pack use to do to put other wolves asleep while they tested on them. Her pack would do a morning hunt for more members then infect them with a type of herb or food that would make an alpha pass out, it was easier that way to work on their body parts while they slept.

It all sounded morbid to a normal wolf but to Lilith it was all a way of living, a way of finding more seeing more and searching for that impossible perfection. Snapping back to the present Lilith let off a warning growl for the young pup, “Young one! Listen as I explain that you will have to deal with my future punishment if you do not follow my orders to a tee!” That should work, pups usually responded to a powerful demand for the unknown.

Why was she sooo angry, suddenly? The pup frowned, looking back at her as his paws continued to carry him forward. After a moment, Rock realized his was tripping, falling on his face, and fast. It seemed to go by in slow motion, though, and he had just enough time to turn his head back around to look ahed before falling on his chin, his rump remaining high in the air before his fluffy tail slumped over, taking the rest of his body with it. "Ow ow ow ow." the pup whimpered, scooting away from the offending object which had tripped him.

Tears were threatening to flow down his cheeks again as he found the offending object. It was a small wooden lump, and he half-heartedly pawed at it, hoping to get it back for tripping him and making him hurt his chin. "Stupid... thing." he pouted out loud, the glower in his tummy becoming far less glowy. He pawed at the lump again, this time unearthing it for him to look at properly. "Woah!" he gasped, leaning his head down to sniff at it. It looked exactly like one of the plain mushrooms who lived in the moss beds, and though it smelled similar, it was harder, and held no life. Is this what dead ones looked like? He questioned internally with eyes wide.

Scooping the object up, he held it protectively, convinced it was a sign. "Ok Miss... " he struggled again, unsure if he knew her name or not. "Home this way." he mumbled around the wooden piece in his mouth. He would get his dad to put it on a root for him so he could wear it. That would make him forever happy. He sighed, she had effectively killed the amazing times he had been having with his newest find, the glowing mushroom. He would have to wait a long time now before coming back, and he hoped next time she wouldn't catch him.

This sign was starting to weigh on Lilith, what was she to do with this pup once she got him back to his pack? Tell his Alphas that he be watched to make sure he didn’t harm himself or others? That would be the logical thing but truthful the pup was her problem so she wouldn’t. Continuing following the pup to his pack Lilith watched as he found this new oddly shaped wood, he was getting distracted by shapes? There was something seriously wrong with his brain and part of Lilith wished to open him up and see if she could fix it but the other part realized that if it she was able to get it then that would be a huge no no to do.

Finally though the pup led on and she was able to take in their route to his pack, this would be a good thing to remember for future plans of success.

The pup felt a sense of sadness as the bridge home came into view. He wasn't quite sure if he wanted to be around his family or not just yet, but this female was escorting him back home. He wanted to pout, but felt that she wasn't the type to take nonsense from anyone.

"Are you sure I have to go back?" he pleaded, dropping the mushroom object to his paws protectively before speaking, so that he could be understood. His high was thoroughly gone now, and though he missed it, he didn't feel as angry as he did the first time this had happened, with Jani. He felt a bit more respect was due to this adult wolf before him.

He batted the wooden mushroom between his paws, waiting for her to answer him. It was so neat, and he really hoped his father could help him fix it so that he could keep it on him always. There was a human who lived on the packlands somewhere, rumored as the reason Loki and her mate had come to these lands to start their pack in the first place. He pondered if he could get the idea across to her to make a necklace of his newfound prize, maybe to color it in the brilliant way that humans painted things?

Not waiting for a moment Lilith continued onward, “Yes of course I do. Come along.” She didn’t wish to stay any longer then had to be done; his insanity wasn’t scaring her just making her caution of the pup. Gestures to the direction to continue on Lilith wasn’t leaving anything out when she hiked on, she wanted to make sure she knew everything of the area and how to go about tracking the little guy. He wanted to speak with his parents but would rather leave them out of it, she wanted away from Rock as soon as possible and hopefully to never have to deal with him again until he was grown and old enough to realize his attitude was not normal.

The pup sighed and picked the wooden piece back up, continuing to walk towards the tree bridge. "Here, just over the river." he reassured her. She wanted him off the land so quickly, and he wondered if she was hiding something. He knew she hadn't see him come from the cave where the glowing mushrooms lived, so that was one less thing to worry about.

His tummy growled though, as he was halfway across the bridge. Reaching the other side, he set his prize down and flung himself into the water with a great splash. Luckily, the river was calmed here, and he stayed under it for an alarming number of moments before splashing back to the surface, dragging up a large salmon, a huge grin on his face.

He dropped the fish beside his wooden toy and began to rip at it hungrily, proud of his catch. A tune kicked up in his brain, one that he had never heard before, but he considered it a gift from the wooden mushroom, and chanced singing it out loud as he gleefully ate his first catch of real prey.

"Fish heads, fish heads
Roly poly fish heads...
Fish heads, fish heads
Eat 'em up, yum!"
