What is magic? What makes it function? How is it controlled, who can, and what is it capable of? There are many questions that we all have about the mysterious forces that many of us encounter every day on our strolls through Barton. Some are familiar, some are strange, but these countless abilities, powers, and styles of magic that are seen in Gaia have a truth, a science, and a belief behind them.
Why can we do the things that we can do?

There are two types of ability description that will be used in this thread:
General View descriptions are what most people would consider common knowledge of fantasy lore. These will include all the necessary information for an 'at a glance' look at an ability, without to going into any of the gruesome details that can get really messy when dealing with imaginary things. Only universally accepted 'facts' should go here, and if anyone has something that was overlooked to tell me about, feel free to drop me a PM so that I can make edits to what I have.
If anyone would like to take it upon themselves to write an article for this section, please submit it to me and I will include it (see information submission guidelines below).
Brief example of a General View ability description:
Pyromancy is the ability to create and control fire. Flames controlled by pyromancy usually exibit qualities that natural flame will not.
My World View would otherwise be called 'the way I see it', except in regards to you, not me. Submissions of abilities that people have made themselves, as well as more detailed descriptions of the more common abilities, powers, and magics would fall under this. Entries are posted individually by the author, so that everyone can read 'the way they see it' and maybe find something that they like.
An example of an ability like this would be bodily energy, also known as 'chi', 'ki', 'spiritual force', and a million other things. This exists in varying degrees throughout most fantasy, from the rather mild uses of breaking bricks to the almost obscene Dragon Ball, there are any number of ways that this concept can be interpretted into a character's own particular brand of 'super powers'.
If you want to submit an ability, power, or magic for the 'my world view' category, please be as thorough as you can in your description. If you would like to ammend the entry later, send me the rewrite through PM or the same way that it was submitted originally, and make sure to tell me that it is a rewrite.
World Views are not limited to one entry per power per user... otherwise meaning if you want to write fourty different takes on the way Telepathy works, that is perfectly acceptable.
Brief example of a My World View ability description:
Pyromancy allows a person to manipulate fire, but not create it. It can be moved, shaped, directed, and even increased into a quantity far greater than it had begun as. The controlled flames can act as solid objects, and can also contain their heat so that they do not burn.
Guidelines for Submitting Information
If you would like to submit an ability to the archives, please make a writeup (as detailed as you're willing to, please) of the ability and create a thread (PM it to me) so that I can include it. Unless otherwise requested, the ability description will be credited to your Gaia username. Threads created (and PMs sent) for ability submissions should be titled: "[EB] Abilities Submission - " and then the name of the ability.
