Aya held out her hands in a placating gesture. It was meant to calm as well as to let Oraeryn know that she wasn't holding anything deadly. "Ssshh...," she started. She didn't go near him however, understanding now that his being jittery around her wasn't because he was nervous. It was because he was frightened of her, "It is alright. Take deep breaths and try to calm your heart down. You are a young man, I know, and your heart is a strong and young one but we must take precautions. You could have a stroke." Or pass out, she thought as she eyed his pale features. "Deep breaths," she said again, "and let them out slowly until your shoulders have relaxed."

When he'd finally calmed down (or somewhat calmed down), Aya gave him a small smile. "I can think of a lot of reasons as to why you were summoned instead of this god," she gestured to the book and promptly closed it so that the pictures wouldn't disturb the young man. "But all of those would be simple speculation and might not even be the truth. I won't know for certain unless I find the ones responsible for your situation and interrogate them."

Of course by interrogate, she meant to torture the information out of them. Despite her motherly nature being nurtured by being one of the leaders of the clan and by raising Parvati (no matter how short the time), Aya was still the Shinigami Clan's renowned and feared Ice Queen. She stared at him, trying to decide what to do next before tapping the book she was holding.

"Let's get some tea first. To settle your nerves," she said and explained her reasoning to him. She spoke again before he could protest or even speak, "The book can wait. Your mental health however, can't. You've had enough shock for the day. I do not want you to faint on me because as strong as my magic is, my physical strength is simply that of a normal human's. I will not be able to carry you."

She didn't mention the fact that Caine would most likely help her on that end so as to limit Oraeryn's options some more. She stepped to the side and gestured to the door further in to the room that lead to the recruitment office. They would be able to sit down there and talk without danger of someone collapsing.

He wanted to back away another step as she raised her hands, but he was frozen to the spot. He closed his eyes, waiting for her to strike him dead, or something else equally awful, but nothing happened. She just spoke to him, calmly and gently. And, still feeling like he was glued to the floor, he listened and slowly started following her gentle instructions. Gradually, his breathing slowed, and he relaxed a little, bit by bit. It wasn't so much the deep breathing, but perhaps her calm manner that was helping.

He opened his eyes in time to catch her little smile, and nodded. What she was saying was making a lot of sense. Honestly, the book no longer held any attraction to him, and he relaxed further as she closed the book, hiding the image of that mural from sight. He had spent long enough chained to that thing, the mere sight of a simple image of it was upsetting.

And finally he spoke up. "Okay." Agreeing to her suggestion, he moved forward a step, then paused, waiting for her to lead the way. Despite being a bit more relaxed, he was still wary and really didn't want her behind him, where he couldn't see her.

Besides, ladies first. It was only polite.

Aya inclined her head to the side, giving him an amused smirk before leading the way. It told a lot that she was willing to show him her back when she would have otherwise simply dragged whoever it was to the office. Being 'commanding' wasn't the way to help Oraeryn, the wayward stray. She would only succeed in making him fear her if she glared at him. And while being feared was quite thrilling (especially now since it was jittery Oraeryn she was dealing with), that wasn't her goal.

She stopped by the door and quickly turned the knob, revealing a homey office filled with comfortable chairs, a desk, and a coffee table. There were some pictures of the clan on the shelf at the far corner of the room where a thermos and some porcelain containers were standing at attention.

"Take a seat," she said and headed for the thermos. She pulled open the drawer and grabbed two tea cups and saucers before starting to brew some tea in the tea pot. "The tea selection is limited at the moment," she said as she closed the lid, "I have yet to go shopping."

While the kitchen was readily supplied when the stock ran low, Aya preferred to buy the tea so that she could pick which ones the clan wanted based on their preferences. She carefully placed the set on a tray before slowly but gracefully making her way to the coffee table. Serving tea was like second nature to Aya and so, she was barely paying any attention to what she was doing. Instead, she looked at Oraeryn and asked a simple and mundane question.

"How do you like your tea?"

He followed quietly behind Aya, feeling completely worn out. At this point, he felt like just going to sleep. Trailing behind Aya, he sat at the table, and probably would have put his head down on the table and slept, but the pictures on the wall caught his attention. He stared at each photo, slowly coming to the realization that this was no ordinary library. It should have scared him, but he was just too worn out from the previous scares.

Oraeryn jerked his attention away from the pictures as Aya spoke to him. "Um." He flushed in embarrassment, his tanned cheeks pinking noticeably. "I've never had tea before." They had used magic to keep him healthy during his imprisonment, and in his admittedly short span of freedom, he hadn't exactly fed himself well. Soda and chips, and the occasional candy bar from vending machines. He had at least stumbled across some kind souls that had insisted on paying him for his healing spells.

He blinked a few times at Aya, still blushing, trying to figure out how he liked his tea. And he hadn't a clue.

Nodding, Aya didn't let Oraeryn know as to whether she thought it silly of him to not know how he preferred his tea. Instead, she mixed the tea up with some sugar and lemon, providing the nice combination of sweet, sour, and aroma. "It is lemon and sugar. I find that milk isn't in my palate. It could be in yours however. We'll try it next time we have some tea," she said as she placed his tea cup in front of him before taking a sip of her own. It was a way to say that it wasn't poisoned or laced with any drug. They were both drinking liquid from the same tea pot.

"Have you had lunch yet?" she asked suddenly as she moved the basket of bread sticks she had included in the set towards him. As a sign of good faith, she plucked one stick and snapped it in two. She held up two ends to him, "Which one would you like?"

He picked up the cup and took a cautious sip, and his expression brightened noticeably. "This is really good." Oraeryn smiled happily, reaching forward to take one of the bread sticks. "I had a snack before I came here."

She was still a mage. He was still nervous. But she was awfully nice, and he'd already spent so much time around her and she hadn't harmed him, so the boy was relaxing slowly. Though maybe that was partly due to the fact that'd worn his nerves out already, and just couldn't stay all tensed up anymore.

He glanced around the room, taking a small bite of the bread stick. The pictures caught his attention once more, and he gestured at them with his free hand. "Who are they?"

Aya took a careful sip of her tea before smiling slightly as Oraeryn praised her for her concoction. A chef loved to know if the food they prepared was to the liking of the consumer after all. Her violet eyes turned towards the pictures as her guest gestured to them.

"Ah...those are my family," she answered easily. It was obvious that none of them looked alike except for Kaori and Ilia. Parvati's photo had disappeared soon after the girl did but all Aya had to do in order to see her was to look at herself in the mirror.

"The man in the middle is Master Guyy and the picture to the left is the Lady Kaori and her daughter, Ilia. The small girl and her stuffed rabbit to the right are Nette and Raymond. Next to her is Gloria," Aya listed off the names of the clan members that were on the pictures. There were some who still didn't have their pictures there but soon, someone would take a snap shot and add it to the collection.

"As you can see, most of us aren't at all related but we still think of ourselves as a whole family."

Gillyn had just arrived from outside the library. She didn't notice anyone at the front desk, but excused it as someone having gone to help another browser. She paused for a moment, cocking her head to the side trying to remember who was supposed to be at the desk. Failing to remember the schedual, she shrugged her shoulders, and made her way deeper into te library. Though, she would soon discover who was supposed to be "at work". Lord Caine was the member on duty at the time, and Gillyn did not enjoy his company most of the time. He was too smooth talking, too much of his glamor made her want to look away in disgust.

Though, of course, as if her thoughts summoned him, Gillyn noticed him coming towards her. A small frown formed on her lips as she headed away from him, looking for anywhere to hide. The only place she could really reach quickly in time was the Recruitment office. So far, that hadn't been that many people that were applying at the Library to become a member... Turning quickly, knowing that Caine was right on her tail, she got slowed down by another browser in the library. Hissing softly to herself, Gillyn would be forced to listen to him, and make a few comments to him, before reaching the door, opening it, and closing it quickly behind her, shouting "NO!" at his last question. She didn't care what it was, she just wanted away from him, now.

When she turned around, she noticed the two in the room. Feeling a bit ashamed at her display, and not knowing who the stranger was, she shifted, and turned her head away, bringing her long bangs between the two of them. Her brown hair was kept loose today, so it was over the shoulders. With a baggy T-shirt and long, loose pants, she wasn't exactly dressed for formal attire. Muttering a phrase in Elven, the scholars of the room would be able to tell that she was apologiesing to the two of them. Especially since the lady Aya was here. Gillyn had great respect for the woman, despite her tendancy to be cool towards others. She shifted, and moved around them, keeping her bangs between the stranger and herself. The two would be able to see her elven ears pointing out of her hair. She moved around to the tea pot, and looked at Aya. "Excuse me." She said softly. "May I have some tea?" She asked, standing near the pot, not looking at the strange man. Her posture was tense, but as Aya would have noticed (She was a sharp woman after all) Gillyn was always nervous around men...

Relaxing a bit more, Oraeryn listened as Aya named the people in the pictures. As she finished, he fiddled with his cup, sneaking a quick glance up at her. "Uhm. I...I wanted to thank you." He stopped fidgeting abruptly, putting his hands in his lap. "You've been really nice to me, and..."

As Gillyn burst through the door, Oraeryn jumped, letting out an involuntary squeal. Those wide silver eyes watched her edge around the table, Orae trying to calm back down. Making a conscious effort to slow his breathing, he tore his gaze away from her and stared into his teacup.

That control didn't last long, as he picked up on the tint of magic around the girl. Two mages in the same small room as him, and he had no real idea where the other was, only the vague sense that he was nearby. He felt surrounded. As nice as Aya was, he wasn't entirely sure of her, and the other two he had no clue about them. "...no more..." He muttered, barely audible, wishing so badly he could just turn off that sense for magic.

"So Gill," Caine started as he approached her rapidly retreating figure, "Did you like today's breakfast?" he asked and then got a shouted negative. And because he'd slammed the door on him, Caine had to turn the knob and poke his head in. "I'll be sure to tell Lady Aya of your comment!" he said to Gill inside the room, amusement dancing in his green eyes, and then turned to Aya. "Gill says that breakfast was not passable today." He smirked and then ducked out of the room quickly before either Gill or Aya could clobber him. Chuckling, the Sidhe Lord made his way back to the bookshelves to 'help' the library guests 'find their books'.

Before Gillyn burst in, Aya was relaxing and having a bit of a small chat with the fidgety guest. She was listening quietly when Gillyn abruptly entered the scene...and then came Caine's proclamation that breakfast hadn't been enjoyable today. She turned her attention to Gillyn and gestured to the tea pot with her free hand to help herself. She gave Gillyn a small movement of her eye brow, telling the elven girl that the Ice Queen was going to ask her about Caine's cooking comment later before turning her attention to Oraeryn. She also wanted to give Gillyn the chance to recuperate and to gather her wits about her.

"Easy," Aya spoke softly before snapping her fingers and forming an invisible bubble shield around herself and Gillyn. It hid their innate magical aura and replaced it with smaller quantities of magic. It wasn't a full proof presence masking spell but the quantity of magic wasn't enough to ring any alarm bells on someone who was sensitive to it. For Oraeryn, it would probably feel like the magic was simply 'humming' softly instead of 'screaming' like earlier.

"I do apologize about the sudden intrusion," Aya began, "as well as the enormous amount of magic prevail ant in the air. That's the kind of place this is you see. It is a sanctuary for those whom society deems unacceptable and more often than not, those kinds of people are magically oriented. The Shinigami Library is where people like you and I are protected and cared for."

Gillyn thought that she had made in the clear, and that Caine would have given up on her. Boy was she wrong. When she heard the door open after her, she turned, and looked back at him. She tensed as she saw him, and before she could react, said his piece, and was gone. There would be the momentary build up of energy... Before she dissipated it before it could harm her or someone else. She did this all without thinking, moving at a speed most mages couldn't help but envy. Gillyn wasn't a trained mage... No, she worked solely on instinct. She sighed heavily, but noticed Aya looking at her. She looked down at the floor at the allowance to the tea pot, and the eyebrow. That hadn't been what she meant that sneaky little.....

Letting Aya do her thing, Gillyn poured herself a cup of tea, the biggest one that she could find. Adding a touch of milk and honey, she would stir it thoroughly. She was completely unaware of what Aya had done, since the more experienced mage was working at a level that Gillyn didn't. As Aya explained the situation, Gillyn would turn, and nod, doing her best to look apologetic. She really hadn't meant to intrude on this little meeting, she was just trying to escape from one threat....

She was still wary of this new person, not even aware of his name yet, before she sat down as far away from him as possible in the room. He seemed to be under extreme stress, though Gillyn couldn't figure out the reason as to why. She sipped at her tea slowly, and was just content to watch the scene, trying to be unobtrusive as possible... Though, she most likely stuck out like a sore thumb to Oraeryn... Not that she could help it.

Oraeryn probably would have leaped out of his seat as Caine poked his head in the room, but the best display of shock the boy could muster was a muffled whimper, leaning to the side, away from Caine. Those bright silver eyes were shut tightly now, as the poor guy tried to regain his composure.

He barely heard Aya snapping her fingers, nor any of the conversation proceeding it. The sudden drop in magic around him got his attention though, and he opened his eyes and looked around, momentarily confused. "What...what happened?" His voice was very quiet now. He could barely sense the magic from the two women now.

"The Shinigami Library is where people like you and I are protected and cared for."

He latched on to that statement quickly. "Do you...do you mean...I could stay here?"

The Ice Queen nodded in response to Oraeryn's question, as if she was only talking about the weather and not offering Oraeryn the chance to have a home. "Gillyn," she said and turned to the female elf, "...this man is Oraeryn. Oraeryn, this is Gillyn. She is a member of this facility."

She waited until the two adjusted to each other before answering her guest's other question. "I assumed that my aura and that of Gillyn's was making you uncomfortable. It wouldn't be the first...especially my aura. I simply suppressed them with a shield spell," Aya explained before taking another sip of her tea. She took a small bite of her bread stick, giving Oraeryn and Gillyn the chance to adjust to the knowledge that she had just thrust in to their hands before speaking once again.

"You will need the approval of two more senior members before you are officially brought in but you already have mine so it shouldn't be too difficult to acquire them. And I'll provide you with lodgings if you have need of them."
