I think having field trips is a really general idea.
So, I don't think it's really plagarism. :/
Anyway, I think it would be interesting to have a field trip to Greece. It is the home of the Gods/Goddesses after all. However, overseas trips tend to be tricky, as it's a whole bunch of demigods going on a plane. It would obviously attract monsters. Plus, the sky is in Zeus' domain, so taking a plane would not work for some demigods.
But, I guess we don't have to follow the book that much right? There could be...exceptions... :3
