I'd say Cyborg 009. It is an old Anime. The Manga was made in 1964, the Anime in 1966, and the remake in 1978. Pretty old, huh.

How about Ranma 1/2. It's made by Rumiko Takahashi, same creator as Inuyasha. Ranma 1/2 is very funny and full of action. It's sort of a love story and there's a boy who turns into a girl when drenched with cold water. Who wouldn't love that? lol
Also, Maizon Ikkoku. (I think I spelled that right.) Again, made by Rumiko Takahashi. It's more of a boy loves girl but is too shy to say it, girl doesn't know guys exits at first, but slowly starts to love him. There's nothing un-ordinary or otherworldly about it.
These were her first two Anime's/Manga's ever made.
