Music Intervention: Soulja Boy

Today I'm sharing with you the above short video, from the segment "Music Intervention" on the show InfoMania, on the Current TV channel. This is one of my favorite shows on TV right now; it's one of few reasons I even turn on the Boob-Tube. 3nodding Well worth the watch.

A short description:
"infoMania's Sergio Cilli demands that Soulja Boy take a break from buying Gucci bandanas and flossing his pretty boy swag to actually write good songs. Soulja Boy claims to have a million of them, so why do all of his tracks sound like the same repetitive crap? Even Ice-T has something to say about it."

Funny. And while part of me agrees with him the other part of me is saying "Why change what's working for you?"

Everybody's always trying to get someone else to accommodate them. If there's anything Soulja Boy does do right, it's that he stays true to who he is and what he likes.

He's pretty much settled into "doing" him. And that seems to work more or less for the fans. I personally turned a deaf ear after I heard that first annoying song of his. I'm old, though. I prefer Hip-Hop and wordflow from the 90s...and maaaybe a few songs here and there from the 2ks. I'm a content freak. So yeah...that whole pretty boy label-lovin' thing irks me too.

As for effort, I think he's doing what the fans want. That's what most (not all) his fanbase is interested in it seems. When he's ready, I'm sure he'll graduate on to better topics. Or not. Now when he's well over 25 and STILL rapping about being a pretty boy, then we have to have an intervention.

Me personally cause music no matter what should have some part of your soul in it and that requires effort

On a side note me and my friends laughed for hours at that.
