Samantha, an old greed and kindness spawn that had gone through a couple of guardian's before finally taking to the streets and later picked up, once again, by the facility. Yay. Kindness didn't always mean a sort of abstinence from violence, but it did tend towards nonviolent ways. But greed... Now that wasn't usually violent but, from her experience, tended to have a silvery tongue. Well, nothing was for sure until the kid actually showed up. If she did anyways.

Although she hadn’t been back at the facility long, Sam had already come to hate it. She missed the streets, her streets. She longed for the freedom they had once given her, finding herself overwhelmed by the sensation of being watched, followed, wherever she went in this place. It reminded her of being at home – although even thinking the word brought of tinge of pain, mingled with resentment. There had always been people around then too, and they’d cared about as much as the technicians did, which was probably why they had abandoned her in the first place.
Pushing the thought aside, Samantha steeled her resolve. She knew she’d get out of her eventually, she just had to wait and watch, bide her time until the moment arrived. Until then, the preteen had figured she may as well make the most of her time; learn some skills that would help her once she regained her freedom. She was nervous, the emotion edged with excitement. Squaring her shoulders, slipping on a mask of bravado, Samantha entered the classroom.

Ary's eyes instantly snapped to the door as Samantha entered the room, several emotions swirling around her. "Samantha, I take it? I'm Ary and before I say anything more I applaud you for living the street life for the time you did. Kids these days are far too soft," she commented, eyeing her curiously. The girl was skinny, probably from eating only what she could get her hands on. And parents around the world were probably appalled at her condition.
Ary, on the other hand, found it actually a nice change of pace and almost acceptable. That was how she grew up, anyways; living on the streets, so to speak, and fighting for her survival. "Now, for the actual teaching. I can teach whatever you'd like as every person is different in their appeals and needs," she continued, adding a slight pause for emphasis. It was clear the girl wished to return to the simple life of the streets and not risk another heartbreak like that of abandonment.

At the sound of her name, Samantha nodded - confirming what Ary already knew – before stopping, listening as the woman continued her introductions. Her words caused Sam pause, the preteen regarding the other woman through wary eyes. Ary’s admiration seemed sincere, and that gained her instant respect in Samantha’s mind. There was nothing the girl loathed more than liars, the kind of people who brought you up with their words, lulled you into a false sense of security, and then ripped the world away from under you when the truth was revealed. You couldn’t trust people like that; Sam wouldn’t trust people like that.
As the conversation turned to the business at hand, Samantha felt herself tense. She had thought about the matter carefully; and, although she had reached a suitable decision, the concept of fighting, or combat, unnerved the girl. It must have been the kindness side of her genetics kicking in, making itself heard, but she couldn’t listen to it at the moment – what she was doing would benefit all sides of her personality in the end.
“I want to learn to fight, to protect myself from being hurt again. I’m good at hiding, at being invisible, but that isn’t enough” Sam explained, unsure whether her response would be enough for Ary.

((*squints* *adjusts old granny glasses* Lawls. Kidding. XD *pokes brain into focusing*))
Ary nodded and frowned slightly in thought. "So, you would rather learn more defensive moves that would work in a wide variety of instances with a few that are good for attacking just in case, yes?" she asked. She figured that with kindness as a virtue Sam might have wanted to lean more for moves that disarmed or temporarily distracted her opponent in order to get away rather than beat them senseless and thus UNABLE to get up from the ground. It would work, and she had a few ideas on how to do such a thing. Defense, as she had said so many times before, was generally easy.
The difficult part just happened to be getting it right and stopping an opponent before they managed to land an attack. That always sucked. "I can even give you a few tips on how to disarm someone from a good hiding spot. Yanno, like a ninja or assassin from those old days when stealth and secrecy actually meant something." Yeah. Nowadays everyone just waved around a weapon of sorts without caring what the hell they aimed and shot at.

Again, Samantha found herself nodding. What Ary was proposing sounded good, great even, and would provide the girl with that little something extra with which to punctuate her escape. She’d show them she wasn’t someone to be messed with – with a distinct, non-violent flair – and then, perhaps, they’d think twice about hunting her down again. At least, Samantha hoped as much. The technicians had proven themselves to be quite persistent; but, she knew them now, understood their ways, their movements. She wouldn’t be caught out again, and the skills she gained here would only serve to cement that fact.
“Yes, I’d like that, to be ... ninja” Sam ventured tentatively, fighting back the small smile that threatened to upturn the corners of her mouth. She’d seen images and movies about ninja’s before, skulking around, dressed from head to toe in black. Samantha didn’t like black, although she doubted being a ninja would be as effective if she was clothed in pinks and greens (the thought of which caused great amusement in the girl).
