    Unleashing Compassion

This is the new series that my church and women's bible study are doing and I thought that I'd share :3 The following is what was written in the little book I received:

    Welcome to Unleashing Compassion Challenge

The Bible is, without question, the greatest and most important book ever written. It is a book filled with action, adventure, battles, miracles, heroes, triumphs, perseverance, hope, joy, guidance, and so much more! using ordinary people as writers, God inspired and authored these road map for your life. It is more than just a book...it is god's Word!

If we are truly going to possess the heart of God, then we must care about the spiritually lost. So, regardless of your occupation, open your eyes to what is going on around you and let God move your focus to praying for and reaching to the lost. If you're a hairdresser, silently pray as you work, and in your loving conversation with your customers look for openness in their heart to accept Christ. If you are a doctor, even as you treat the body, look for opportunities to heal the soul of your patients. Whatever your skill or gift is, it should be used to serve this purpose. You don't have to be an evangelist you simply have to love people and speak as the Lord provides opportunity.

    The Challenge

One major theme we see throughout Scripture is God's compassion for the spiritually lost and the poor. Over the next 33 days from August 8 to September 10, we want to challenge you to read through Scripture with a different lens, what does God say about unleashing compassion to the lost and poor? As you read these passages of Scripture ask God to give you a bigger heart to care for the spiritually lost and poor.

“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

I might post some of the workbook exercises later. But for now, feel free to share how you have unleashed compassion unto others if you are willing :3
Please NOTE: this isn't in any way to brag about what you have done.

It can be as simple as praying for others, as sharing a meal with them, as getting to know your neighbor, holding a door open for others, anything that serves others.

Last Wednesday when the Bible Study I go to meets, we had brought baked goods and delivered them to the local fire station.

We weren't sure what to expect. We all thought that they would take the cookies and goodies, say thank you and then good-bye. Even if that would have happened, we were all very excited to do this so we didn't mind. I don't think any of us were expecting anything in return. This was for the fire fighters who put their lives on the line for us. We wanted to thank them.

When we got there, they invited us inside. They were so thankful and awed that we had made the goodies from scratch and had made them just for them. They gave us a little tour of the station and talked to us about the fire trucks and fire engines. We got a group picture in front of the fire engine and they drove us home in it! It was the most awesome thing ever :3

Last Tuesday, I had deviated from my normal routine. I knew my mother was swamped at work. She works at a high school and is the only person doing what she does. Since the semester is about ready to start, the lines were soooo long. She didn't have time to answer the phone or even take a bathroom break.
Because I went to high school there, I had helped her before and knew how to do some things.
I surprised her by stopping by and asking if she needed any help.

She was super surprised and so thankful. I stayed for about two hours and helped her out with whatever I could. I wasn't expecting anything but she bought me lunch at taco bell and paid me for the work I did.

When she walked me out, she told me that she didn't care if she had to deal with a rude parent. She'd remember my help today and because of that, she said the rest of her day was going to be wonderful. It was great :3

Sunday night, I was hanging out at my friend's apartment with a handful of mutual good friends.
I had gone on a taco bell run for us because some of us had not eaten yet and were starving.
When I took the wrappers to their trash can, it was over flowing. I thought about it for a moment. I knew where the trash bags were so I took out their trash for them.
My friend and his wife thanked me quite a bit just for doing that for them. Again, I was amazed at how a simple act meant so much to them.

Same friend's apartment but different night.
The wife was dropped off at the apartment (we had arrived at the same time) and the husband had to leave for a few hours. So my and my friend kept *Susie company; she doesn't like being home alone either.
I went to get a glass of water and ended up cleaning their kitchen for them :3

I am a sinner... "1 John 1:8"

kind of something on the same lines of this:

While I was in Fresno visiting my father in-law this lady approached my husband and I as we were leaving a store and asked for some help with her car. We weren't sure what to expect but we agreed anyway because we have a bunch of tools in our car and my husband is getting pretty good at working on cars. Well the part she needed was a special order part and she was trying to get to Visalia, Ca. She couldn't wait for the part. We called every auto parts store in the city but they were all closed by this time or said the part was special order for them too. After a bit one of the workers came out from the store and said he had a car just like the one that was broken down at his house and he was parting it out. He said for 15$ we could take the part off the car ourselves. So we went over to this person's house and when we get there we see the front end of the car was smashed and that's why he is parting it out. Unfortunately the part we needed off the car was blocked by other things. It took my husband 2 and 1/2 grueling hours of working on this car to reach that part and by the time he reached it he discovered that it was in worse shape then the one on this lady's car. The lady followed us to my father in-law's house and my husband and his dad worked to temporarily fix the piece so they could make it to where they needed to go and then order the part there which took them a good hour or so to do. This woman was so upset and feeling like a failure as a mother because she got stranded with her son. I spent my time trying to reassure her that these things happen and that God will handle all of it. She cried on my shoulder for a bit from how upset she was and I just tried my best to comfort her. I prayed for her and her family that she would relax and feel calm and peaceful.

I felt wonderful for being able to help these people out and I knew it was of God that this happened. Giving our time like this was wonderful. Even though it took a lot of blood, sweat and pain for my husband to do what he did, he stuck through it without giving up on these people. It was amazing that we saw this all the way through and that the person was so grateful for Us to help her. She had had a beer bottle thrown at her by a person she had previously asked for help and then we came along and did all that. I believe all the glory is for God for doing what he did and helping out so many people because we learned a lot during those hours. I feel blessed to be used a vessel for God's work when I feel so unworthy of it all!

I went to CiCi's Pizza the other night and there was a girl behind my fiance, she was waiting patently to get a plate.
Well I handed her one and she just smiled.
It made me feel pretty good. ^^
