Lex sat outside the Sin HQ, annoyed by the company of others. He was quietly sitting beneath a tree, his eyes fixed on the ground. A cold gust brushed his light blue fringe along his forehead, but he did not move. The wind was slowly growing in force and dropping in temperature, and a gray sky hung overhead. In spite of all that, Lex sat beneath the tree, focused entirely on the spot in front of him.
From a distance it wasn't clear what he was doing, but up close one could see a small dirt mound in front of him - an anthill. Millions of tiny black ants were scurrying up and down, carrying bits of leaves and berries and food back to their queen. Lex remained completely still, his icey gaze wide and curious.

Lenta didn't spend much time at the Sin'aei's HQ, which was fine with Carlos, seeing as how he would much rather have been at home asleep, or eating, than out among countless other babes and noisy kids and whatnot. But nooo, now Lenta had to go and act all sympathetic, claiming that she was the reason Carlos never got out, the reason he was becoming so introverted. Criminy.
Carlos screamed and cried all the way to the HQ, oblivious to Lenta's shouts of "This will be good for you!" and "You're gonna hurt yourself if you keep that up!". By the time they pulled into the parking lot, Carlos had an achy throat and achy ears, and was grumpy. Lenta sighed as a new wave of tears flooded down his cheeks, and was relieved that no screech followed it. She scooped her little Sin'aei up out of his carseat, settled him at her hip, then locked the car and headed for the front door.
It only took her a few minutes to spot Lex. She grinned, turning and stepping towards him instead. Why not let Carlos play with someone he knew instead of shoving him into a group of kids he didn't?
"Hey, Lex!" She said in greeting, waving half-heartedly with her free hand (the other being around Carlos, so he wouldn't fall).
