Far away from the modern regions of the Pokémon world, there lay a kingdom known to its inhabitants as l'Eternia. It is a world clamped firmly under the straps of tradition; its roots are placed deeply in magic. The people of l'Eternia are secretive; a pokémon-Atlantis of sorts, known by all but believed by no more but a handful. l'Eternia's surrounding ocean, known by sailors as the Haze, is obscured by mist; many authorities attribute the mist to the activity of its local Pokémon population using Mist to hide themselves from human; the Haze is quite far from any known shoreline, and it is believed that the local Pokémon are unused to and therefore afraid of humans. And l'Eternia's people would just as well keep it that way. For the secrets of the Elements are cherished, and any l'Etern would guard them with their lives. l'Eternia's society is at the current date headed by King Soris Elitia; the Elitia family has ruled steadily for decades. The royal Eternal Soldiers protect the values of l'Eternia, casting powerful mists and misdirection spells to protect the country from curious eyes. "Pokémon Trainer" is an alien term to l'Terns; wizards roam the world of l'Eternia in their stead. When a young l'Tern reaches the age of thirteen, they are put through a coming-of-age ceremony known as the Trial of Elements, or more commonly just "the Trial". In this ceremony, a Grand Wizard, a class of the most respected and powerful Wizards in l'Eternia, places seventeen items representing the Elements before the young l'Tern. Blindfolded, the aspiring wizard must select one. If the item responds, then the child is crowned a novice wizard and granted a Pokémon of the corresponding type; if the item doesn't respond, the poor soul is denied the honor of becoming a wizard, for a full year after the date. For some, even after two or three Trials, they never pass, give up and go on with their lives without ever becoming a wizard. The goal of any wizard is to master all seventeen Elements and become a Grand Wizard. Wizards strong in a particular Element, given the title of Element Masters, are appointed to judge their skill, awarding items known as Pearls as proof of their competence. In l'Eternia, Pokémon are used as partners in battling rather than instruments thereof. A wizard and their Pokémon partner work together to achieve victory. Wizard's spells are based off of Pokémon moves, though they do not come near as naturally as they do to Pokémon. The greater an individual's aptitude for an Element, the more powerful spells he can learn in that Element. Strong wizards may be chosen to become part of the Eternal Soldiers, who act as not only protectors of l'Eternia's secrets but as the peacekeepers and police force of l'Eternia. Recently, the younger generation of Wizards have been questioning the rigid traditions of their country; some even plan to leave and find out what the ever-accursed "outsiders" world is like. A grand event is about to occur; King Elitia's son and heir is about to take the Trial- for the fifth time. Many citizens have given up totally on him, but he is determined to pass for his country and his father. Hundreds will be in attendance, with a lavish celebration planned afterwards- if he can pass. Meanwhile, the Eternal Soldiers are on high alert- multiple breaches have been made into the Haze, which all appear to be made by the same vessel. Someone's trying to get in, and the Soldiers will stop them at all costs. With the country in doubt about their prince, and their borders threatened, where do you fit in l'Eternia's story?

┌────♥────┐ Šїlυεŗ -Characters- Someone is needed to play Prince Elitia. I don't want such a spotlight if someone else would rather take him :3 I'd be willing to change him to a Princess, and anything else about their character is up to whomever wishes to play him. I will allow dual-character-wielding, if you can keep up with them. We need outsiders :3 The aforementioned vessel will inevitably make it past the Soldiers, who will be on it? And we also need other citizens of l'Ternia: wizards, Soldiers, Pokémon, normal people? I'm leaving this pretty wide open, I am better with settings than plots ^^;

"I've always wondered what hell would be like." The room lurched again, and Silver clutched her stomach, groaning in agony.
The girl curled into a ball on her cot. She squinted at the floor, where a Glaceon lay on the floor quietly. Next to him was a very distressed looking Ralts.
The Glaceon watched his trainer passively, an empty gaze. "What's your problem," Silver taunted, sitting up slowly."This is by far the worst trip I've ever taken," she sighed. Even traveling by Lapras was better than this. Those tacos she ate for lunch probably didn't help either.
The teenage trainer stood up, regaining her composure and quickly fixing her hair in a nearby mirror. She unsteadily headed for the door, and her Glaceon and Ralts quickly heeled. Silver found her way back to the deck of the S.S. Mirage; the crisp, cold air bit her throat. There was a salty breeze wafting through the misty surroundings; a mist that seemed to grow thicker by the moment.
The Ralts shyly tugged on the fabric of the young woman's pants. Looking down, she saw the creature shivering. She cracked a smile. "Take Erixe back inside, Yuki," she instructed the Glaceon, opening the door. Yuki dutifully nodded and marched back in to guide the small Pokémon, which followed closely. Silver walked over the railing, looking out deeply into the thick mist that surrounded the vessel. "Being out here...there's no way this is a normal haze," Silver muttered to herself. "There's something out here. And I'm going to find out what." └─────────┘

Earlier that day.
"Oh man that's a big ship" Donovan said peeking out from behind some boxes, "Wonder if the town gossip is right..." slinking quietly into one of the boxes the young man waits a little while and feels the box being lifted onto the ship.
"Oy careful with that cargo!" Donovan heard someone shout threw the various foodstuffs surrounding him. "We're gonna need all we can if we're gonna make it threw this time!"
"Hmm sounds too busy to get out right now, may as well take a nap and hope I don't get caught." He thought to himself as he shifted around what felt like cabbage to make a makeshift pillow before falling asleep.

Not very far from the boat, a Gyrados floated on the surface of the water, the space around it remarkably clear of haze. A armored, uniformed soldier, the hood of his noble helm obscuring his face somewhat, seemed to be staring intently in the direction of the boat. An Eternal Soldier. "They are within spitting distance of our shores. Every spell to attempt to disrupt their navigation has failed. What could this mean?" He appeared to be talking to no one. A quartz stone set in the soldier's ring shimmered slightly, as if it had heard. A voice rumbled from it. "Their instruments are more refined. Beyond our understanding." The soldier shook his head, obviously distressed. "Captain, what do we do?" "A confrontation will be necessary," he said gravely. "What would we do with them? Even if they were caught..." "We won't be taking any prisoners today. We will sink the vessel. Is everyone clear?" There was an uncertain murmur of agreement from several voices. The soldier's Gyrados glanced towards its rider. "They ventured into our land. They will have to pay the toll." But there was doubt in the Eternal Soldier's heart as he said it. ┌────♥────┐ Šїlυεŗ Silver gazed into the misty void, frustration filling her senses, clouding it more than the clouds themselves. "We've traveled so far and yet no sign of land!" she shouted in exasperation. There was no sign of anything in these murky waters. They could be right next to the shore and she couldn't have seen it. "This is no ordinary haze! There's something here," she muttered. Yuki was at her heel, as always, listening intently to his Trainer. Yuki scratched against Silver's leg, as if trying to garner attention. Silver looked down at the fox-creature. "Is something wrong?" she inquired. The Glaceon cooed, staring out into the void intently. Silver couldn't understand. "What's wrong?" Yuki shook his head, loudly exclaiming at the mist. It winced, as if trying very hard, and managed to cause a small puff of the mist to evaporate. It was quickly replaced by more haze. The Glaceon's legs collapsed, and it breathed heavily. "Don't stress yourself, Yuki," she said with concern, but the Glaceon appeared unhappy. "I can't expect you to try to clear this. It's not the same as making Mist. Don't worry yourself," she said, attempting to console the creature. It still looked worried. The Trainer couldn't have understood the true source of the Pokémon's stress. They were being watched. └─────────┘
