Kora decided to visit the hospital for a bit. Even though it looks like no one have token harm or any illness, it's actually a good thing that their less patients than normally.

Kora just want to take this time to catch up the report of past incidents.

From the sky, a Mer fell and landed quite gracefully in front of the hospital. As she wandered in, she told the people at the desk how she had fought and killed the mad king Devrin, and needed medical attention. Since it was widely accepted that this was a long time coming anyway, they didn't care and gave ehr the attention she needed. Within a few hours, they had healed her up and sent her out on her way. She left, jumped, and disappeared into the clouds.

                                                                    ""

I think the worst part of this entire thing is that damn EKG. Every beep is like a timre ticking away. Each beep weakens my resolve just that little bit more. At least when the pain comes it becomes too hard to hear it over the sounds of my own moans. My Stewardess visis daily, as do so many people. They wish to offer me their sympathies. Some days I am able to stand and walk with her as she tells me of the war, asking for direction with her as my voice. Zachariah was rattled by Daniel. He was pulling his army back, wary of the thorns and Frontan response to Pronta. It was a smart move than committing too much in a war of attrition he couldn't beat me in. Honestly, I think he could have pressed forth and done enough to send us into dissent. At least he did not make that choice. She had come to me today, to hold my hand and regale me with a tale of her escapades with the pool boy. I smiled at her, her warm hand a comfort. Her thumb rubbed the back of my hand, my dry skin of no consequence. Tirion had been so good to me even in the end. Even on the bad days. Even when I lost him...

It was so sudden. One day I had awakened in a start, my heart racing and my sight blurring. I rose from my bed, feeling pain consuming me but also something else. Something snapped within me and I felt my connection to Dominus snap like a cord. I raced, screaming through the halls. I threw myself, in my silk night gown, from the stained glass window at the top of the palace. I landed roughly, rolling, crying out in pain so loud the already on alert guards raised weapons towards me. I bounced up, confusion setting in the courtyard as I launched myself forward. I found him just outside, crashed into a building. He hung from it, gasping for air and struggling. I cried so hard as I coughed blood from my mouth. Dominus didn't have the strength to roar. He slipped, trying to stand and glowing red. He crashed into the ground, moving to avoid crushing someone. It was so hard to move but I climbed to his chest. I don't remember his voice anymore now. He groaned as I cried and cried. I wanted to help him but my magic could do nothing. He died there. He died and I went into hysteria. Tirion was there like a bolt of lightining, lifting me as I screamed and cried in both mental and physical change. She tried to console me, she truly did. But I was a mess. I blacked out somewhere on the way to the hallway. The next thing I remember was waking up thinking it was a dream. My bed was moved into the hospital I suppose to make me comfortable. I sat up, and the pain in my abdomen was a solid 11l10. I screamed, feeling myself being torn apart ever so slowly. And then the memory hit me. So fast... he was here the night before. I told him to go hunt. I knew he was hungry and I didn't need him brooding and worrying over me. He found a whale before I was even halfway gone. I was happy he was so proud and made fun of him for being so uppity about killing something half his size. I screamed his name. I wanted my baby. I didn't want to believe he was gone but he was. Nurses administered some kind of drugs to knock me out. I went under quickly... which was nice in hindsight. When i woke up... the exact seen played out again. This went on for a few months until they managed to stabilize me. And then the screaming turned to moans and wails. I couldn't even see where he was buried... he was put to sea at my behest to Tirion should the worst come to us together. And I wasn't there to see it...

Now I am numb. I sent a letter a while ago to an old friend to come see me. If he didn't have time... well he didn't have it. I just needed a distraction from the beeping. I would receive no guests today. No visitors. I was alone with my thoughts. I turned my head to look through the window towards the sunny day. Slowly and with extreme effort I raised a hand to press a button, opening the window and letting the fresh air in. I was a medical mystery. The genes should have killed me by now, but affecting Dominus? Slowly eating away at me? This was all so new. They could only make me comfortable until I finally succumbed to whatever super cancer had taken grip of me. And it was taking it's time. So I just stared blankly at the sun, my eyes unbothered by it. A reminder from Solonor I suppose. But I furrowed by brow, wondering why she had forsaken me. I had been thinking on religion, on the gods. She and Justor claimed to love me. But they seemed to just ignore me when Zachariah destroyed the Nation of the Rising Sun. I had bared her mark... but chosen to save her forest instead. For this I was rewarded with nothing but utter death. I thought of Akeem, whom I wished to see, and West. They too had allowed this, choosing to forsake Maria when she needed them most. When I allowed myself to believe I had the gods and Fraxon on my side. But now... truly thinking it has only ever been Dominus... and now it was only me. The world was so lonely...

I could feel my heartbeat slowing suddenly. I could hear nothing outside my room, a strange feeling being so numb to the world. I gripped my sheet as a heaviness set upon me and the beeping slowed. I set in, looking at the machine. Slower than usual, weaker life signs. A tear rolled down my eyes. In my last moments... I finally realized the truth. The truth that Maria Kal was no longer needed. That the world chose to leave her in it's wake. In the back of my mind I heard a voice speak to me. It was familiar. It was my baby. Mother. Let go. Join me. Join me and we will never again be alone, it said. And so I did. My hand released the sheets as the beeping turned into a constant tone. My mind released most of it's burdens finally. All but the knowledge that I was alone. I saw my eyes reflecting in the blackness of the screen... saw a burning yellow glow just before they closed for the last time. And then there was nothing.

Not a kind of nothing that brings forth peace but a nothing that allows one a time to think. I felt so much discontent suddenly. And these thoughts were echoed. Bounced back against the wall of emptiness to my own mind. I was not alone suddenly. I saw nothing. I did not move. I felt myself being moved sure, prepared for my funeral. Mer tradition would have me released in the great ocean. I was put on ice. It was cold but that was never an issue for me. I could hear so many little voices however. One was the voice of my first child. I thought to myself this must be death, but a voice screeched back. I understood it perfectly. This was no death. This was no end. This was a new beginning. I heard more screeching, more roars. In my own mind was a chaotic mass of noise. It was loud and garbled. But I understood it. All of it. A loud grunt seemed to silence them all. In common tongue it spoke. "Mother." I was startled by his voice. "Do not be afraid mother. We are here now. We will not be alone anymore." I was confused. I wished to speak but I couldn't find the words. But whatever was going on seemed to be... right. It was confirming within me that I was right to be angry. That I was not "good enough" for them but that they didn't matter anymore. I was a monster to them already... so I would give them a reason to fear me more. "We had strings..." his voice in my mind said. I responded, my voice more like the echo of many as I opened my eyes in the dark ice box. "But now I'm free."

The coroner came into his office the morning after to move her and they were horrified at the state of the room. Gray liquid lined the room, almost alive but certainly organic. Sitting in the middle of the room, Maria, naked and still looking like herself sat crosslegged, holding something, serenading it. She looked over her right shoulder, a carapace breaking free of her skin and slowly claiming her skin as it's charge. She smiled but did not speak as a Mutalisk screeched in her arms. The coroner and paul bearers were stunned as four sharp gangly limbs shot out of her body. The Mutalisk took flight, flapping erratically before his mother. Maria exhaled. "She is my second child. And so beautiful, don't you think?" The men watched it seemingly break down, turning to swarm territory which melded into the ground. Maria turned to them, walking forward. They were afraid, they backed away so slowly. She held out a hand, the carapace retracting to show the elven skin, the meritian scales. "Fear me not, loyal men of Kranilla, of Kenai, of Kal. I promised not to let you be weak, but I myself failed you..." she said caressing the bewildered and bemused man's face. She shot straight up through the cieling, straight up through the roof eventually. She landed there, and looked to the sky. Already he had begun her work. Already Dominus... no Shar'Xen as he now called himself, had begun to make himself known. Truly he was a monster, spreading spawn territory as he stood before her, at the edge of the building. She looked into his large, bug like eyes and touched his face. A tear rolled down, just one, as she saw him, the monstrous beast before her. It roared... screeched as she stepped onto him. His wings opened, like those on a wasp, and Maria didn't even need to brace herself. No... she merely looked at her territory and smiled as the entire area around the hospital already bore her mark. "There are... no strings on me." she whispered. The second Swarm Host was born: Kal, Queen of Blades.

It was morning already, the sun was shining through the crack between Bastion's curtains. Rays of light danced across his face until he awoke. Sitting up in bed he took a moment to breath and take it all in once more. Maria Kal was dying. One third of the world's greatest power was leaving the third plane for good. A pain in his heart brought to mind the look on his King's face from the night before. Bastion for all intents and purposes was shadowing the King, performing minor duties for him and even weighing in on important decisions. The candle had burned late into the night, the uneven light flickering beneath the doorway had let him know that Akeem was still awake. Wanting to see if there was some thing he could do for him Bastion entered his chamber. The Djinn was kneeling upon the floor, head held in hands as he mourned in silence. A letter on the floor lay crumpled and tattered, clearly having been brutalized. Without a word the boy picked his way across the room and retrieved it, holding it to the light and reading the words. It was a message from the Queen of Beasts herself. Her writing was shaky and sloppy, the words almost fleeting. She was dying, she was dying and nothing could change that. A sudden bang had Bastion flinching inward, instinctively wheeling about and ready to morph should he need. But it was only Akeem. He had struck the stone floor out of rage and left the mark of a man plagued by the seething anger only someone close to him could possibly bring. Bastion stood there with the letter clutched in his little hands. He moved to the side of the King and placed one of those hands on a shoulder, squeezing ever so softly. A silence pervaded then. Not one of awkwardness or anything uncomfortable. It was a shared solace between one boy who loves his father. "We set sail in the morning. Prepare yourself, I need to see her before.." Bastion could see the lump form in Akeem's throat and nodded his head. There was no need for him to say it, the outcome was real no matter what either of them did. That much was understood.

Bastion pushed himself out of bed and wasted no time. He washed and brushed his hair, dressing himself in the attire that was required by society for a boy of his standing. As his fingers deftly buttoned the shirt he wore thoughts of status drifted through his mind. Once he was nothing more than someone's experiment left to die with the other atrocities. Then a man nothing more than a soldier saved him. Right there Bastion knew a love he had never felt before. It was a completely self-less action, one stranger to another. Yet there was something about that Djinn that was different from other people. He did not crave power, he was not an evil man. Greed, avarice, hatred, rage; These did not reside in this being. It was almost as if Michael had crafted him in the image of Daniel, though Bastion knew the fantasy from his reality. Still, it was hard not to put the King of the East on a pedestal. Akeem was wise as befitting a king despite having been thrust into the position when he had only ever wanted to be a soldier. There was much about his savior that he did not know, but it did not matter. He was given a choice to live anywhere he wanted in the entire world. Akeem swore he would see that Bastion was safe. So he chose. He chose the empire of Fraxon, the nation of Aramil, the King in the East. It was a choice he would never go back on, even if he ended up having to endure lesson after lesson on things as seemingly unimportant as table manners and how to address the various social classes. With one last glance in the mirror Bastion steeled his nerves and put on a brave face for his father.

Akeem was already waiting on the deck of Aramil's flagship. Legs spread wide and arms crossed over his chest the King oversaw the preparations. From afar Bastion could see him pulling the thick ropes for the main sail alongside his men. He smiled faintly, admiring that quality. It was one thing for a King to be commanding and feared, another to be loved and respected. People wanted to follow Akeem, to battle alongside one of the most proficient fighters in the world. He would lay down his life for his nation, and the nation would do the same for him. Bastion approached the gangplank and mounted the ship, remembering what it had been like his first time on a boat. He shifted side to side and adopted the 'sea walk', constantly adjusting to his center of gravity shifting over and over again. Bastion stopped at the rails and gazed out into the Great Ocean. A few years ago this venture would have been absolutely impossibly by water. Kaminae the Sea Witch would have sunk their ship to the deepest depths imaginable, but Maria and Akeem had seen to it that she would no longer plague the world and its people. "Beautiful, is it not? Going to get used to that beauty, and fast. That is all we will see for miles." Bastion should have taken that more seriously.

The ebb and flow of the waves had been rocking this ship far too much for the boy's liking. He took to staying inside Akeem's cabin where he could not tell the horizon was bobbing up and down. So instead he poured over book after book, learning about the nation he was heading to. Aramil was the only place he had ever known outside of his laboratory. It was a wonderful place, set on a large island. The coastal fauna and flora were normal to him, yet unique to the world. He had never seen a forest of trees so tall only birds could reach. A thrill of excitement shot through him and ended whatever chance there was for him to continue reading. That must have been a cosmic event for when Bastion exited the cabin the men were clamoring to and fro. Akeem was impatiently waiting for the ship to dock, standing near the edge of the boat with a scowl upon his face. It would be a whole hour more from that point, and by then the King was indeed in a sour mood. Bastion was sad they would not be able to view the city in the trees closer, for they had rushed straight to the hospital where Maria lay on her deathbed. Lining the streets on Etched onto the faces of people who barely knew their queen before her untimely passing was a sadness that would reverberate to every soul in this nation and beyond. Akeem's face softened and to others it may appear he lacked emotion. But from the corner of his own eyes Bastion could recognize the look of his father's fear. The weight of an empire was pressing upon him moreso than ever before. A haunting melancholy tinged those golden eyes, making them look even more molting and brooding than ever before. They walked on in a rushed silence, leaving behind guards and people of all kind. When they reached the door Akeem hesitated for a moment, but then steeled himself as he turned onto the street of the hospital. Immediately he grabbed Bastion by the shirt and pulled him forth. The boy knew what to do and morphed on the spot. Akeem stared up at the being that seemed to be Maria atop the roof, jaw dropped in disbelief. The Djinn shifted his leg forward and lowered into a fighting stance, gauntlet arms raising for a fight. Tentatively he spoke. "Maria Kal, is...is this you?"

The djinn have a permanent 'force' around their skin that will reduce incoming damage by a rank (excluding holy and unholy magic). This puts them on the same level of base defensibility as a werewolf, although they can't regenerate, so... They can apply energy to it to block all manner of attacks, meaning they don't really have to learn defensive abilities. It is really no more potent than any other defense of its rank, though.

              • Chi Sense
This is required for all Dim Mak techniques. It allows the user to see the flow of chi within any surrounding enemies in an area, making hiding from them quite useless as they pop up in their vision just as easily as infrared. This vision will last for five posts at a time, and requires a cool down of one post after usage. Once Stage 4 is learned, the negative effects of this technique disappear and becomes a passive ability of the user.

              • Light Feet
The user is able to lengthen her stride and step lightly when running, which is good for crossing large distances without attracting the attention of guards or scouts. They make little noise when running like this.

My body is merely a vessel for a driving force which thinks only to protect itself, it's entity. But where there is the swarm there is also another. There is the Hive's Queen, it's director. It serves her, serves me. The hive mind's overlord. The Overmind. And any who I deem worthy of being called my child will be considered a part of the brood, to be protected. In the same breath, an who would dare oppose will fall before the overpowering, dominating might of my litter of monsters, destroyers and renders. Kranilla, Yuran, all of it is my territory, and I will suffer no more a threat than a foreigner kicking a rock. That being said... I saw him before he saw me clearly. He got quite close before realizing that I was staring down on him. I did not move, nor did Shar who saw him through me. My skin crawled as he looked up at me with those eyes of his. Eyes of a fearful old friend.

                                                                    ----------------------------------------------

"I'm so FLATTERED!" she leathery wings filled the spaces between her spider legs. She began to flap them, slow at first as she became used to the feeling and then fast enough that an audible buzzing filled the air and dust kicked up around her. She slowly rose, Shar screeching at him and long centipede like legs extending from his side. "But you are too late, King of Aramil! A year too late! You who decided I was not worth helping, who allowed Yuran to fall. You and the gods, and Raphael too, decided to give up my people when the Demon King came. Did you come here to mourn my death or celebrate it?" she accused as instincts took hold of her. "Maria Kal is no more" she answered. "You let her die. Only I remain. Kal'Xen: Queen of Blades!" she screamed as Shar roared and began to barrel forward, right before Kal seemed to burst with gray liquid and a pod of five basilisks formed from the openings. Kal nearly puked at first, but then it felt heavenly. She flew among the Basilisks, people running in terror now. She was not thinking clearly no she was only remembering what her dying will had been. She did not wish him harm, not entirely. She just wanted him to see what she had become, what he allowed to happen.

Akeem felt Bastion shiver against him, the invisible barrier quivering at the sound of the buzzing. What was he seeing? Had he fallen asleep and this was a nightmare? For almost two hundred years the djinn had traveled this mortal plane and not once had he ever witnessed something so alien. Akeem felt as if he had stepped into a cavern in Val'Ghast, yet it truly was Maria. That was her voice, it was her face and she felt the same. He watched with a trained eye as she birthed more of this...swarm. It brought a sick feeling into his gut. The basilisks, what Dominus had become. Why had she been forsaken? What cut him deepest was her words. He balled his hands into fists and glowered for a moment, but knew it to be true. Giving no time for a response the swarmlings burst forward and began to cause a panic. Remembering who he was Akeem shouted amongst the clamor of hundreds and gave orders. "Pull away from the hospital! Give her space!" The King of the East had noticed that Maria was not attacking anyone. Even the spawn that flew for him only seemed to want to intimidate. Akeem located the transformed being in the air and shouted up to her. "Maria, Kal'Xen! You are wrong, I am not too late! Look inside of your heart of hearts and know my truth. I am sorry, I will never be more sorry and I have never been so sorry. I should have done more. I should have been here. Once we fought together and the world changed. Now we did not, and once more it has changed. You have changed, and I am sorry." Akeem said with sincerity. The war with Nocturne had been the most untimely thing to happen. Most of Aramil's forces had been deep in Geshan territory, fighting the natives of Amaranthine and the monsters of Val'ghast in attempts to reclaim. The expedition had been in motion long before the God-King struck Yuran. He had sent what forces he could but had not been able to divide himself so. Aramil would have been run in to the ground and reverted to nothing. Yet he should have tried harder. Akeem gritted his teeth and banged a fist against his chest. "I do not believe the woman you were is gone, not completely. You once fought to save your kind from Kaminae. You removed a tyrant from power and freed Yuran from his grasp. You loved all the creatures from the smallest to the largest. You swore to protect the people who would call you 'Queen'. What you are now...is...more. You are no less, recall that inner strength! There is nothing I can do to revert what has happened, but I am here now. Your ally, your friend..." Akeem said as his eyes swept the field. If he had to fight this onslaught it would be a blood bath. There were too many people, this was a hospital. He could not stop them all at once. No part of him wanted a battle. If there was a way to bring Maria back to her senses he had to try, even if it got him torn to pieces.

Kal and her basilisks were tailing him, far behind but keeping a good pace as the grey goo filled the streets. The people were safe, but that meant little as all they saw was a zombie and a dead man flying free and fast towards Akeem. She was intent on making him hurt. On making him feel wha she felt. She wanted to see his pain. She wanted to get revenge for Yuran so much that she would hurt anything. If it had even small blame she would tear it apart. Logic meant nothing. Her emotions were the rulers of this state of mind. And as his words reached her she tried her hardest to ignore them. To paing akeem and Raphael the villains. She wanted them to be the reason. She couldn't find any other. The gods and her former allies... her current allies..?

He twitched and groaned a bit before Akeem, about a block away as he finally stopped moving. Kal's Basilisks felt their queens inner conflict as well and seemed to bug out, flying in no patterns anr crashing into each other before returning to the matter they were made of and splattering against the walls. Maria screemed as she made a bee line for the Djinzerker. Her body cracked a split second early, and the carapace broke apart as she slammed into the ground before him. When the dust settled, she had no carapace, no clothes to protect her. She was on her hands and knees, looking as centaur and mer as before. Shar rose to his feet, but seemed unable to truly act, skittering as if indecisive. Kal's voice echoed in moans, a voice comprised of legions, of the swarm. Her face was white hot, so painfully warm and tight as tears streamed down her face that she sat back on her feet and held her face, moaning like a mother who lost her babies. Yuran had meant so much to her. She had done so much for it. Kal, in all her strength, was so weak. And it wasn't akeem's fault, he was nothing before a god. All of them, the Triumvirate of Akeem, Maria, and Nai below West were mere bugs before gods. Her skin was so smooth, so normal that it was hard to believe below the surface she was this new thing, and this was accentuated as Shar seemed to regress ack to Dominus, looking like he had before he was reborn. The swarm territory seemed to die off quickly, sinking below the ground harmlessly. The people calmed, circling the queen. Djinn, Waktu, Kiranu, even some fleeting demonkin who chose a path less evil surrounded the two of them. Amazed and empathetic for the one who led them. "Akeem!" she cried as Kal wailed. "I killed them. I drew his ire and he came for me. I killed them. No one else but me..." she cried out. Shar'Xen puffed out smoke from his nose, feeling her pain acutely. "I lost my babies, my children of the mountains, my shining gems. I threw the world into chaos when I didn't free Michael. When I chose vengeance. I..." she stammed tears flowing down the hands that hid her face, down her naked body. "I should be dead!" Tirion came forth, her most trusted and closest friend in recent days. She could not step closer, she could only let her tears well up. Maria was not at fault for that, not solely, but she always felt responsible. Its why even with her cancer she fought. Even when she could barely stand she fought through her connection to the dragon. Even in her dreams, Maria fought Zachariah. Tirion was saddened by the Queen's anguish moreso than her people, who wished dearly to have their beloved queen's mind unburdened. Kal looked to Akeem, so vulnerable. She spoke solemn words, heavy words. She made one request. "Akeem. Please... kill me. Do these people justice. End my life..." she said as her swarm went crazy inside of her and she screamed again, gripping the hair that had grown spikey and long like thick dreadlocks and looking to the ground. Her control seemed to waiver over it in that moment. The swarm needed it's queen but it followed only her will. Her will was to die... which would kill them too. But she couldn't truly mean it. She was in hysteria. So many new feelings, so many emotions she couldn't control. Kal spoke not another word as the voices argued in her mind, her own voice silent to take control, though her own was the only one that could bring them to order.

Akeem's back leg slid a foot in distance and he bent his knees. This creature once known as Dominus chose to charge at him. The berzerker was made for frontal assaults and head on collisions but he had not approached with the intention to harm a comrade. Golden energy flowed around his peach body, seeping out from the royal garment he wore and enveloping him fully. Just as he was about to make his first Wish the gargantuan creature screeched and reeled away. Bastion instinctively pushed himself outward in his morphed form. The insects that had rallied around their biggest brethren all bounced off of it as they seemed to lose any logical thought. Akeem looked to each individual monster before him and realized something. They were all connected. They were all connected to Maria. He could see the look of anguish and confusion on her face and understood something then. She was scared. A brand new transformation the likes of which the world had never seen and she had been the one it chose. There was no one else of her kind anymore. Mer, Centaur; Maria had left these behind and transformed into something foreign. The death of her nation, of her lover and child may have been too much for her to handle alone. This was something the King in the East could relate to on a very personal level. He watched his seven children die one by one after causing the death of his wife. Akeem felt her pain and when she collapsed before him he raised a hand and signaled for Bastion to release him. The boy retreated the shell and took his natural shape again in a blinding flash. Without hesitation Akeem pulled at the all too formal jacket he wore and tore it from his body. There were too many eyes and Maria lacked clothing. Even in a heated and tense situation as this one King Malek would not forget to be a gentlemen. He was too kind for that. Draping the jacket which would seem more like a cloak over Maria, he knelt down and grabbed Maria by the chin. No." He said firmly, with the voice of a commander. Prying Maria's hand from her head Akeem held them firmly in his own, as he would have comforted an child. He leaned forward and pulled her to his chest, embracing her. "I will not kill you. You are needed. The fault was not yours. It was Zacariah. He chose to raze your lands, not you. Place the blame where it belongs. Maria, look. Look at everyone around you." Akeem spoke softly, leaning back just long enough for the girl to glance about. The people looked on with blatant curiosity and concern. Even the swarmlings were hovering about, waiting for their mother. "I do not...I do not know what these are, but they are yours. Look upon them, see Dominus, see your people, see me. You did not fail when we chose to end Kaminae, and you did not fail your people. The only way you could fail, the only way you could be an injustice would be if you gave up now." Akeem leaned back and grasped Maria by the shoulders, holding her up and looking right into her eyes. She needed to see his sincerity for no words could convey what he actually felt.

              • +1 Rank to Physical Abilities

              • Mind Games
The djinn have a permanent 'force' around their skin that will reduce incoming damage by a rank (excluding holy and unholy magic). This puts them on the same level of base defensibility as a werewolf, although they can't regenerate, so... At adept rank, this force can become amplified by the djinn's mind, psychomanually controlling the level of force in the layer of magic.

Shar's body seemed to gurgle a little as the wings and the extra legs retracted back into his body yet again. He looked as he had before, as just Dominus. His mother shivered, not because she was cold but because she was still perplexed by what had come over her. She could not speak while there was so much noise all around her, pulling her mind all over the place. Akeem's words went into this garbled mess, his rejection of her plea hurting herself. She was needed? No... she couldn't be useful anymore. She had died. DIED. The voices swarmed about her mind, setting about the word death. She picked Shar's voice out again, amid Akeem's own words. "He speaks truth. Punish not yourswelf... but punish instead the true enemies. The demons and gods alike." He said. Her failure could only come from giving up. She opened her eyes, the mental pain clear in her mind. But she did not cry or scream or wail. The voices roared, all of them making so much noise but saying nothing... nothing until she listened. She listened to her own body, the voices that belonged to others taking claim of her. But were they belonging to others? Was this curse actually a curse? Her eyes held Akeems as if she had found an answer. "ENOUGH." she thought... and they were silenced. Inside of her own mental world, an army kneel before her where once barbaric beasts ran rampant of each other. What was it she had said? "Kal'xen of the swarm..." she claimed gripping at Akeem's hair. "Queen... of Blades!" she stammed pushing him away and standing, his coat falling. "Queen of Beasts... Slayer of Kaminae... Empress of Kenai... the Midland Ruler... Great Uniter... I am... The Swarm..." she spat out with the voice of an army in her own. Her Carapace formed, she finally looked at it with a clear mind... clear minds. She looked to Akeem, her Spider legs twitching a bit the way spider legs tend to. "King Malek... thank you." she said as Tirion gathered the courage to look upon her Queen. Kal took notice and held out a hand, the armor breaking away to show a soft, mer-scaled, elf-kissed arm. "Fear not my Child, my children. Harm will come to none of my babies..." she said as Tirion, reassured, took the hand slowly, still crying. Kal furrowed her brow. "What is wrong?" the Host asked. The girl held a letter. Kal took it, reading the message and suddenly becoming wracked with dissent all over again. She trembled as she turned to Malek. "Akeem... the Emperor West... is dead."

Akeem swelled with morale only known to a man who had served much of his life in the military. Even as a leader himself he could not help but feel it growing inside of him. Before his eyes he was witnessing Maria once again come into her own. The creatures quelled the confusion, hushed down and seemed to form up. She was controlling them through her mind, one whole army inside of a single mind. It was amazing, though still very terrifying. How many times had he crunched through a carapace or ripped off one of twelve legs from monsters in Val'Ghast? That had been the expedition he left in Aramil when he received the news. If Maria had not been in control, it would have gotten very messy. Looking at how they all worked in synchronicity was mesmerizing even. It took him a moment to look back at her and the crowd. Everyone seemed to have calmed down. The tension had lowered, all was well.

It never stayed that way for long, did it?

His heart beat was so loud. He could not hear anything. People were looking at him, so many eyes. What was going on why could he not understand what they were saying to him? Akeem shook his head slowly and stared at Maria with eyes wide open. He approached her slowly as a predator would its prey. He put a hand on her shoulder and pointed at her, hand shaking though few would notice. In a low and dangerous voice he spoke. "Do...not..say...that. W-why would you say that Maria? WHY!" Akeem shouted in a rough voice that made his throat hoarse. He let her go and stalked backward, hands clenching into fists over and over again. The man slowly descended into hysteria, breathing erratically and pacing back and forth. A sudden moment of clarity washed over him. "West. He needs me. I have to go to him. I have to" A massive pulse of energy and where Akeem stood there was only a crater.
