Revi bobbed her head up and down slowly, trying to understand what Lennox was getting at. "Yeah... I thought we already established that your rainbow qualities were super brilliant? They're very pretty... and...?" She twirled her hand at him in a circular motion, gesturing for him to expand on the idea. She could be rather clueless at times; it was almost laughable.
She shifted her belongings over to her other arm and grabbed the front of Lennox's vest with her now free hand. Pulling him forward, she bounded down the hallway excitedly. Revi was beginning to notice the slight feeling of hunger gnawing at her stomach and a few comments about how the food was "questionable" or "icky" or "inedible" weren't going to scare her away. "Ah, no worries. I like to think that I have a somewhat strong tummy. All that time out on the road, eating whatever the hell we could get our hands on during the... ah, not-so-planned-out trips and stuff, y'know?" She laughed a little too fondly at the memory for a second before releasing him from her grip. Her heels gave a click as Revi stumbled forward slightly and touched a hand to the steel door. She let out a long, heavy breath and closed her eyes as she felt the air bounce off of the door and back at her face, only ten times colder. She seemed to be leaning on the doors a bit too much and her green eyes suddenly snapped open with realization. She let out a breathy "oh" as the gears in her head seemed to begin to turn again.
It was surprising to Revi that she hadn't recognized the feeling earlier. It used to happen all the time; she would be dead tired, but then she'd get a burst of energy before crashing yet again. She remembered the days that she'd practice her acrobatics for an upcoming show from sunrise to sundown. The practice sessions would typically end with her passing out and her Leader carrying her back to camp quietly. If she were to pass out now, Revi didn't think that Lennox could carry her back. Then again, she was probably underestimating him yet again, but it would definitely be inconvenient for him to have to haul her a** to safet -
"You look tired, my dear. Why don't you take a break? You're going to pass out, my Reverie."
Her ear feathers perked up suddenly at the familiar voice and her head snapped over to look at Lennox. She narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously before demanding, "What? What did you say?"

It was true and Lennox could not help but smile at Revi. Particularly when she made that motion with her hand. "Yes yes." He murmured, the clear hint of a laugh in his voice. He was super brilliant and 'that' too. His tail flickered behind him in response to his amusement, though that quickly stopped when Revi grabbed him by the front of his vest and began to pull him along. He tottered a little in his attempt to keep up with her sudden rush.
"It does not sound all that appetizing." He observed as she spoke while leading him on. "I'm just used to regular food. Nothing special but nothing I ever had to fight to eat. Most times here I have a hard time making myself eat unless I make it myself." He honestly could not imagine someone having to get used to eating things they did not want to..well..now he could he guessed. After a few more months here he'd probably understand the need to eat over the desire to wait and find something better.
When Revi released his vest, Lennox glanced around to see if they had arrived at their destination. No..it did not seem like they had yet. When he looked back, Revi was leaning against the wall and breathing strangely. She suddenly did not look so well and his wings gave a uneasy flutter before settling back down on his back. She looked like she was ...ah! She was crashing! Of course! The adrenalin rush had to be wearing off now and if she had been suffering a bit of exhaustion, dehydration, or starvation to a degree it was bound to hit her pretty badly.
"You look tired." He acknowledged and reached out to point down the hall. "Why don't we take a break before you pass out Reverie?" He suggested, then took a step back. What a look! Had he said something wrong? He certainly felt like it!
"I...I just said we should take a break. We've been running around, got into a fight, and you got pretty cold. It makes sense to just rest for a bit. If you want to go to your room I'll bring you something from the kitchen?"

Revi stared at Lennox for a long time, as if her mind were registering his words at a ridiculously slow pace. She was hearing things again. She was sure of it. Maybe. Revi let out a long, almost exasperated sign and shook her head at him, shrugging slightly. Her mouth opened and closed before she seemed to look at him in a confused manner. Her lips formed a small pout as she shook her head.
"No, no. It's fine."
There was a short pause before she quickly added,"I haven't seen the inside of the Asylum's mysterious kitchen yet. I'm curious, Lennox! What do you think is in the so-called meatloaf that we're served? I'm not gonna let you discover the secrets of the kitchen without me! Tryin' to ditch me, huh?" Revi shook a finger at Lennox in a teasing manner before continuing down the quiet hallway.
"Why don't you take a break. love?"
"No."
Revi shivered suddenly, but quickly recovered and motioned frantically for Lennox to continue walking with her.
"I wonder if there's a secret stash of the really good stuff hiding in the back of the kitchen? Oooh, oooh! Maybe we can steal ourselves some knives..."
"You're going to pass out again, my dear."
Revi spun around sharply on her heel and gave Lennox a bewildered look. She was genuinely surprised to see him standing there instead of the owner of the familiar voice. But it was already too late. The words simply slipped right out of her mouth and she could hear the childish whine in her voice.
"No, just a little longer. Please."

She had to be thoroughly exhausted. The way she kept looking at him had him baffled. Particularly when eh insisted she was fine. He could easily tell she was just trying to ignore the fact she wasn't doing well. her small jab about the kitchen though made him half smile. Was he really going to show her too? It was one thing to do this for Tonny, but should he be doing this for others?
He needed to ask Daniel.
She could not honestly think he was trying to ditch her though. No, that had to be her odd sense of humor right? "Are you sure you don't want to take a break?" He asked her one more time. When he received her simple no, Lennox exhaled a little.
"Well there is a lot of good things there." He replied as she would muse over what would be in the kitchen. Lennox spread his hands as they walked along. "I have snuck in multiple times already. There is no need to push yourself though." He paused and eyed Reverie. "You aren't going to miss out on anything my friend." He promised her. The childish whine that she came back with though.... Lennox flicked his tail uncertainly, then offered a hand towards Reverie. Maybe it was lack of food...or something...she was obviously suffering from something.
"Come on. I'll get you into the kitchen itself so you can get yourself the real food." Lennox pointed to the cafeteria and began to approach the door. Peering in, his wings flickered on his back in an attempt to disperse some of his anxiety. There was only one person inside, eating in a far corner. Well..they looked vaguely normal...so they shouldn't bother him and Revie...they were the strange looking ones, meaning they would be seen as the threat instead of vice versa. At least that is what he was banking on.

"Oh, you're so silly, my Reverie."
Of course. She understood now. She felt herself wilt slightly as the realization hit her. He wasn't with her and now she felt like a terrible friend for looking at Lennox with such a disappointed expression. She hoped that he wasn't offended or anything of the sort. It's not as if she didn't want to be here with her new friend... even though their circumstances weren't exactly favorable, she enjoyed the little adventure that they were experiencing.
Then the anger set in. How could she be so stupid? Of course her Leader wasn't with her right now, he was the one that had put her into this god forsaken asylum in the first place! Revi felt her nails dig into the palms of her hands as she balled them into tight fists. She began to clench her jaw and grind her heel into the hard flooring.
But then a feeling of panic washed over her. Maybe she was going crazy, but surely... surely Lennox didn't think so. At least, that's what she hoped. It would be unfortunate if her companion began to think that she wasn't stable. Revi's lower lip quivered a bit as she reached out and curled her fingers around Lennox's pinky - she didn't even notice the childish way she was holding his hand. She straightened out her back and stood a little taller before giving Lennox an apologetic smile.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm fine, I promise." A lie. "I was just zoning out a bit, I guess." Another lie. "I kinda missed everything that you said, though. Too busy talkin' to myself and stuff," she gave him a playful chuckle.
She shuffled after him quietly for a few seconds before attempting to act like her usual, animated self. Her lips formed a small 'o' as she hugged her belongings closer to her body with her free hand. "Oooh. So there is a secret stash? This is turning into more and more of an adventure... Reverie and Lennox bravely enter the dragon's den in search of the fabled treasure: real food!" Her voice dropped suddenly, "Check out the stranger. Ya don't think he'll try anythin' fishy, do ya?"

Was it hunger fatigue? Or just regular fatigue? Lennox found himself trying to rationalize why Reverie was acting so strange now. As Lennox stood in silence and watched Revi, he felt a weird wash of emotions. On the one hand was the common feeling of sympathy. It was something he had felt time and again as a boy back before his either world was ripped apart. Then there was a odder other feeling, one he was not quiet certain he understood.
Reverie seemed to bring herself out of her phase without his aid, and for that he was grateful. The last thing he wanted was to was end up doing something weird and unthinkable. Like how he had tried to intimidate Daniel of all people, or attempted to be...it didn't matter. That had happened all in the past and had somehow, thankfully, turned out well in the end.
"Fine...you promise..." Lennox glanced about as he listened to her voice dropping. He did not feel too inclined to play, as it seemed she wished to. Maybe it was a diversion tactic to keep him, or herself, from dwelling on these last few uncomfortable moments.
Lennox stopped in front of the kitchen door and stood on his tip toes to peer into the window. He had ignored the 'food' that was currently laid out for the patients to pick at. That just did not qualify in his mind as proper nourishment for someone who was sick. Once Lennox was positive there was no movement inside, he stepped back and removed his vest. "I need you to...uhm...look away for a minute Reverie...."

Revi tiredly ran her free hand through her fringe and pushed the loose strands of hair away from her eyes only to have them flop back down again. Letting out a soft sigh, she looked around the room carefully. It was a little strange to see the cafeteria so... so empty. She figured that it was probably pretty late by now, but she at least thought that there would be more night owls roaming around the Asylum. Although she hated how crowded the cafeteria normally was during the day, Revi felt downright creeped out by the state that the massive room was in now. There was something disturbingly eerie to the heavy silence that hung in the air. The tables look even more worn out than usual, the walls seemed to have more cracks, the floors were filthier, and the shadows seemed even darker. She felt the fine hairs on the back of her neck raise as a cold shiver shot through her body.
There's nothing to worry about, my Reverie.
Revi let out a soft, almost contented sigh and felt herself relax a bit as she replayed the reassuring words in her head over and over again. Her eyelids had drooped a bit to form a dreamy look, but her eyes instantly snapped up to look at Lennox. She stared at his face for a moment before looking down and noticing that he wasn't wearing his vest anymore. Quirking an eyebrow, she gave him a curious look that almost seemed to say 'what are you up to?' Giving him a light shrug, she did as she was told and spun around her heel to turn away from him with a neat click of her boots. Revi had no idea why Lennox was stripping at a time like this, but decided not to question him... for now. Standing with her feet together and her back ramrod straight reminded her of trips to the tailor back in the day. She remembered how she would squirm around as the poor tailor would try to not stick Revi with a pin (the task was only made even more difficult for the tailor as Revi's troupe Leader towered over the tailor with a dark kind of look). Of course, as soon as he asked her of it, she would stop wiggling around and instead, she would turn into a 'darling little statue' as he so affectionately called her.
Blinking away the memory, Revi scanned her eyes around the room and decided to focus on a crack in a dark corner. After staring at it for a moment or two, she came to the absurd conclusion that the crack was getting darker and bigger as the seconds ticked back. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before quietly asking, "Almost done yet?"

Someday he would not be embarrassed by this. And someday maybe he'd manage to dance out the front gates and into the arms of his family. The latter seemed more likely then the former at this moment. Lennox trusted that Revi would not turn and peek at him as he disrobed. He carefully placed his pants to the side, took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
Almost done? Lennox opened one opal eye and fought the urge to smile bitterly. "I haven't even started yet. Just don't turn around, no matter what you hear. Okay?" He reaffirmed his request before closing his eye again. He hated the pain of his transformation. He had fooled himself into thinking that it was getting easier the more he did it. Though he suspected the real truth was that he was just getting quicker at his changing. Flicking his wings once to relax some of the tenseness in his back muscles, Lennox finally let the change overtake him.
The tingling feeling that came was fine. He could stand that. It was the feeling of his internal organs compressing on themselves. The way he could actually hear his bones snapping, breaking, then grinding against each other as they shifted about. It hurt horribly, the pain caused his throat to thankfully seize up, as it spared him the embarrassment of crying aloud. Lennox dropped down to his hands and knees as the change rapidly forced his body to realign itself. The changing itself only took about a minute to perform, but felt so so so much longer.
In the end, a tiny black gerbil with a rainbow tuft on it's tail blinked opal eyes on the floor. "Eep." He cheeped softly while flicking his ears back against his head. With a small twitch of his tail he glanced up at Revi before bouncing towards the kitchen door.

Revi sighed softly as she shrugged her shoulders and let out a whine, "Geez, Lennox. So sloooow." She then followed up with a quiet laugh to tell him that she was just kidding. Waving a hand over her shoulder, Revi shook her head, not even sure if he could see her. Hear? Hear what? Is he gonna to use his super rainbow powers to shoot down the door or somethin'? Revi furrowed her eyebrows together and and decided to focus on the frilly hem of her white corset. Running her finger along the frills left to right and then back again, Revi hummed softly to herself as she waited. And waited. Maybe Lennox wasn't really taking that long to start his... whatever, but it sure did seem like eternity to her. Maybe she was just getting antsy? After all, it had been a rather... adventurous night. Huh, what time is it? Aw, hell. I wonder if I missed a meal -
Revi let out a quiet gasp of surprise at the sudden sound of cracking. She had heard the sound once or twice before during bad rehearsals and even once when she saw a little boy fall from a tree. Hugging her clothes closer to her body, Revi shivered and let out a shaky, "Y-you okay?" As the bone-chilling sound continued on, she had to fight the intense urge to whirl around just to make sure that Lennox wasn't getting crushed by some kind of booby trap. He told me not to turn around. Orders are orders. Don't turn around. He said not to turn arou -
"Huh?" Noticing that the horrible snapping sound had stopped and been replaced by a little squeak, she slowly turned around only to be met with... no one. "........Lennox?" Looking to her left and then to her right, she slowly lowered her gaze to the ground and stared at the little gerbil with wide eyes. She spent a few more seconds staring at the little black and rainbow creature before grinning, "Thaaaat's pretty sick, man."
