One of the features of Animal crossing is digging up fossils. On the DS version, you may take the fossils directly to Blathers Barn-Owl and he will identify them right there and then, which makes it much easier.
But, on the Game Cube version, you have to send the fossils three per day via the mail.
I have a list here of the dinosaurs you can find on the Game Cube version and the pieces you need to complete the collection.
Stegosaurus
Skull - 5000 bells Torso - 4500 bells Tail - 4000 bells
This dinosaur is worth 13, 500 bells.
Apatosaurus
Skull - 5000 Torso - 4500 Tail - 4000
This dinosaur is worth 13, 500 bells.
T - Rex
Skull - 6000 Torso - 5500 Tail - 5000
This dinosaur is worth 16, 500 bells
Triceratops
Skull - Torso - Tail -
Plesiosaurus
Skull - Neck - Torso -
Pteranadon
Left wing - 4500 Right wing - 4500 Skull - 5000
This dinosaur is worth 14, 000
Mammoth
Skull - Torso - 2500
Yes, you need only two pieces for the Mammoth.
Ammonite - 1100 Trilobite - 1300 Track - 1000 Egg - 1400 Amber - 1200
These last 5 are individual pieces that you can collect.
Notice that some of these come with their prices in case you get extra and you are in dire need for bells for debt payments.
