There should be someone who plays the crash cymbals on the field! I play them and I have played them for two years now, this will be my third.
P.S. Drumline is the bomb.com!!!!!!!! Because we are awesome like that! ^.^ dramallama

Marching cymbals?
I've suggested that, but we have limited slots on our drumline. Our pit only has six members, and the battery has thirteen members. Cymbals would be waaayyy too many, and they'd be hassle.
The only time cymbals are ever marched is during parades, but that's for the pit. xD

Well my band has 9 drumline members (no pit, yet) plus our drum major, because he plays percussion (which makes 10 players), he just happened to be DM this year. I play crash cymbals on the field and in parades, I believe I will be playing them 'til my senior year.
see: 3 people plays the snares, including the DM. 4 bass drummers 2 crash cymbal players (me and someone else) and the tenors (or quads, whatever)
P.S. I am in a 1-A school. It is small, has a population of 300 people as students from K-12. True story.

My high school had a massive band altogether, and our drumline was no exception. we had 5 bass drums (different sizes) 4-5 snares 3-4 quads 3-4 crash cymbals 4-5 toms and then the dozen or so pit guys.
idk, i guess our band was big...

Alchemic Kraehe Marching cymbals? I've suggested that, but we have limited slots on our drumline. Our pit only has six members, and the battery has thirteen members. Cymbals would be waaayyy too many, and they'd be hassle. The only time cymbals are ever marched is during parades, but that's for the pit. xD Same here. I've seen some pretty badass full-time cymbal lines, but for now all we have are the suspended cymbals in the pit during our show. In the stands, pit members hold cymbals for the snares and/or play their own parts. During parades the pit is our cymbal line.
