[ Name: ] Julian Cyrus Thorn
[ Nicknames: ]: mockingly 'Julie' or 'Jules'
[ Gender: ] M
[ Age: ] 22
[ Birthday: ] June 11th
[ Eastern/Western Astrological signs: ] Gemini / Dragon
[ These Are A Few of My FavoriteThings: ] He loves anime, and drawing. He especially looks up to people like Kosuke Fujishima and Yu Watase, and Clamp. He's fond of singing, and playing his violin, which he carries with him alongside a laptop on most occasions. His favorite music-jpop, jrock, techno, and vocaloids. He hopes to create a Vocaloid based on his own voice. He's only good with audio editing and mixing software though, but he does want to learn more.
[ These Are UnGood: ] Julian doesn't like spicy food, or red meat. He's a picky eater, which makes going out to eat hard for his family. He also doesn't really like board games(too boring compared to video games). Since he sits in front of a computer most of the time, sports aren't really his thing; with one exception, swimming. He fears failure and ridicule (being judged too harshly) by his fellow students and therefore always tries to do his best.
[ Place of Origin: ] Central United States
[ Aquila Location: ] Mangetsu
[ Aquila Status: ] Accepted into the Pros
[ Personal Merits: ] Intelligent- He does good in school, keeping up his GPA.
Kind/Friendly-He also has a lot of friends. Even if he's more of a listener than a chatterbox. Maybe it's because he listens that he has so many friends.
Empathetic individual- If someone tripped and scattered their books everywhere, he'd be the one to immediately help them pick it up.
Musically inclined-playing violin.
[ Personal Flaws: ] Depressed- due to a chemical imbalance and the action of his parents. (they fight often). Suffering from depression, the video games helped with this. It's his addiction. He is also well-off, so buying gaming products was never a problem. It stems from a family with issues. This fuels his interest in escaping reality and getting into video games.
Picky-He doesn't generally go with the flow. He's very particular about certain things, especially that which effects him personally. Ex: the food he eats.
Computer/Tech Obsessed-Some people, especially his parents, think he spends too much time on the computer, whether it be playing games, checking his email, or writing a paper. They might find this behavior irritating.
[ Brief History: ] College. He was glad to get away from his family and their many 'issues'; one of the reasons he is so interested in gaming.
He started out in the central US, but moved to Japan which explains why he didn't go to Avalon, and is in Mangetsu instead. His parents moved there with their jobs. His mother is a model, and his father is business owner of a children's toy company.
Julian goes to college, and wants to get a degree in computer programming. But he plays a pro avy, and this takes up a lot of his time since it's basically an obsession. But if he gets his degree or becomes famous enough with his character there is a chance he could be hired to the company.
[ Physical Description: ] 5'7" skinny, a little muscle, tan. Blonde hair, short. blue eyes. Baggy jeans, sneakers, muscle shirts and print Ts. He probably looks like a surfer to some. But he's not from either coast, not even really a sporty character at that.
~~~
-Sickness/disorder - Money can't always buy your way through everything, even the best medicine can't cure all that there is.
-Strange quirks - might be stereotypical of me to say.... but I think all gaming type people have some kind of strange......... trait about them....
Really bare bones. Try expanding and extrapolating on the features, hobbies, quirks, etc. There are some examples in the FORM code now if you need.
He hopes to create a Vocaloid based on his own voice. Since he carries around a laptop and this is a goal of his, is he savvy with programming? or just with audio editing and mixing software? or he doesn't know anything about that and just WANTS to ? Define this better as his skillsets
He gets good grades but he's 22? soooo...is he in college? if so from where and what is his hopeful major? Since he was gunning to be a professional Avatar, how an why does this affect his college studies/plans? this should be noted in his background.
because his parents are 'famous'. Models are famous, but honestly few people know any of their kids. Few people know Heidi Klum (of project runway and previous supermodel fame) has four kids, three to Musician Seal or even what those kids names are. Even less the fame of company CEOs or their children outside of 'rich' circles. No one I know is aware of names or even who the current scions of the Wrigley's family (wrigley's gum and the baseball field). So is it actual fame, or just money and Society social fame (like the Hiltons being active at charity functions and otherwise to gain fame)?
Quiet. He may have a lot of friends, but usually they were the first to talk to him rather than the other way around. If he were at a concert, he definitely wouldn't be in the mosh pit. What you're describing isn't 'quiet', its introverted, and it has to be more pronounced than that to be a 'Flaw'. Introversion at a normal level, as you've described, isn't a flaw any more then being a happy-go-lucky extrovert is a flaw. It's just a personality trait. Being agoraphobic is a flaw, but in such a case he wouldn't have so many friends.
Flaws are aspects about a person that are honestly detrimental to interacting with society, with other people, or with one's own healthy lifestyle. Let me quote Wikipedia to save you researching exactly what I mean:
Quote: a character flaw is a limitation, imperfection, problem, phobia, or deficiency present in a character who may be otherwise very functional. The flaw can be a problem that directly affects the character's actions and abilities, such as a violent temper. Alternatively, it can be a simple foible or personality defect, which affects the character's motives and social interactions, but little else. Flaws can add depth and humanity to the characters in a narrative. For example, the sheriff with a gambling addiction, the action hero who is afraid of heights, or a lead in a romantic comedy who must overcome his insecurity regarding male pattern baldness are all characters whose flaws help provide dimension. Perhaps the most widely cited and classic of character flaws is Achilles' famous heel. In general, flaws can be categorized as minor, major, or tragic. So what are some examples of Flaws? incompetent intolerant inflexible extreme timidity cowardly violent/hostile aloof glum stupid/simple insecure irresponsible vulgar lethargic extremely withdrawn selfish cynical needy unimaginative brash cruel irrational/illogical imperceptive impatient panicky unethical insensitive rash overdramatic inattentive unreliable Hubris/prideful
He's depressed though he tries to hide it. Sometimes he can be a bit obsessive when it comes to certain things. It stems from a family with issues. This is a bio, and if you're going to use it as a flaw, tell us OOC why he's depressed. There's a reason, chemical imbalance or emotional, and that will be pertinent to how you play him, whether or not it is ever revealed IC. What are the 'issues', which gives the impression that it is an emotional-based depression.
Tragedy - oh how I love tragedies.....
And how mysteries don't belong in informational Bios. This isn't a teaser trailer meant to drum up excitement for a movie, its meant to help you develop and display the character in preparation as if for writing a novel.
Okay, I'm still working on it for the most part. But I added the information that you asked about. And changed his flaw around since I had it written in his bio. I made it so he's not well-known like his parents are.
the effects of being in the pros (well I added the basics, if I need more let me know)
I also got rid of the scholarship idea. He doesn't need it. It makes him sound too perfect. XD
Alright, now split up the individual merits and individual flaws each according with the template: Quote: EX: “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” - Well Spoken - Bob Jones is a writer par extraordinaire, and from high school onwards started focusing his creativity towards Speech Writing and delivery. He loves words, how they play, and how they sound, and he's got a natural knack for stringing them together in ways meant to move people like yelling Fire in a crowded hall. He gets a few bucks here and there from local officials, writing presentments and party addresses, but he dreams of getting a break to help out a screenwriter with some growing stuff for the silver screen. If only Sean Connery could be the one to play the character that reads his lines...
