Rreown found his hungry mind so focused on the light that he barely scrambled away from the waters' edge in time. He had no interest in swimming. Lips curled in a hint of frustration—he was still hungry and now this ...
The dark-feathered Adahy scanned the rivers' edge for fallen logs or a shallower patch of water for a more favorable crossing, all the while trying to keep the curious glowing thing in the corner of his gaze. He wasn't giving up on that yet, but he'd already decided crashing blindly after it wasn't helping him, either.

Naada continues paddling, but soon realizes that she's not alone. A dark shape is circling around her as she swims. Her paddling slows down until she's just treading water. The dark shape slows the circling and stops in front of Naada. A wedge-shaped head pops up out of the water and chitters at her. A big toothy smile tells Naada that she's made a new friend.

You find a large tree fallen across the river. Trotting easily over the log and you head back to where you last saw the dancing light.
You stop and look around. No dancing light can be seen. Rumbling noises remind you that you chose to chase a fanciful play of light instead of doing something sensible like eat breakfast.
Your nostrils catch the enticing aroma of mushrooms. Following your nose, you quickly find a small patch of glowing mushrooms. Grabbing a mushroom, you gobble it down hungrily.
“Hey! Those are mine!”
You look up to see an angry Adahy frowning at you.

I doubt you'll be wanting this one back now … Rreown thought to himself as he looked up, nostrils flaring in surprise as he swallowed the mushroom anyway. Bright eyes flicked briefly over the unhappy other Adahy, more curious than threatened,
"How can you own them?" He asked quietly, feeling his stomach grumble for more, "Do they not belong to the forest we share?"
Rreown was much more inclined to forgive than to fight. Maybe this male had a mate nearby. Or maybe he was just as hungry as himself. Whatever the case, he hovered a bit, ears lowered to match his apologetic tone, "Sorry—I wasn't trying to intrude."

The female peers up at the angry Adahy, eyes blinking in...well, ignorance. She doesn't understand the anger in the Adahy's voice, and instead proceeds to approach him, snuggling against his shoulder. She's not the brightest thing..

The female Adahy looked at Rreown. She heard his belly rumble with the need for more food. She grinned at him and said, “I'll share then.” Little did Rreown realize that this Adahy had adopted him and would expect to him to help her gather food for the winter.

The female Adahy looked down at the female rubbing on her shoulder. With a “Hmmmpf”, the Adahy turned and walked away. Heliosyne felt confused for a moment, then realized that she didn't have to share the mushrooms now. That funny dancing light could wait until she had her overdue breakfast.
With her nose buried in the mushroom patch, Heliosyne didn't hear the footsteps.
"Would you be sharing those mushrooms?" a deep voice asked.
Heliosyne looked up to see a dark gray D'iTaki looking at her. Weaving around his rack of dark horns was the dancing light. Now that she was close enough, Heliosyneyou could see that the light was one of the elusive glow worms that she'd heard about.
