It is often said that to write well, one has to read quite a bit. Following that, it stands that in reading one would find what they like in writing and what one doesn't. I'm interested in the kinds of authors that you guys think of as good writing influences.
I'd like to write a bit like a combination of Tanya Huff, Tess Gerritsen, Dean Koontz, and Alex Kava.
What about you guys?

I want to try and emulate Dan Abnett, who writes the Gaunt's Ghosts novels. It's a Warhammer 40k series, published by The Black Library, and it's very, VERY war based. I read his stuff, and it's like I'm right there on the front lines with the Tanith 1st and Only.
