History:
Tila was born and raised outside Archon hold on a large farm operation. Her parents were the melding of two large families of beastcrafters and farmcrafters so she was tossed into a world of herdbeast and crops practically (or at least to her felt like) the day she was born. Her mother loved nothing more than working in the fields, while her father loved caring for his herds.
She was the middle child of a five children family - the only girl. Her brothers each took to beastcraft and farmcraft like they were born to (well they kind of were). Being a traditional family, the men took on the brunt of the work load. Tila felt weird being the only girl... so she started to try helping her brothers with their work. They would coddle her and tell her not to work so hard... but she would not listen. She did not want to be outdone by her siblings. While she loved working on the farm, a little later in her life she found her true calling to be in the kitchen making things with the stuff they raised/grew. At first it was helping her mother cook, and soon turned into her experimenting on her own. (to her parents dismay it backfired sometimes)
Realizing their child was destined to be bakercraft, and wanting her be happy doing what she loved, they sought out a chef in the Archon Hold to apprentice her. Being pretty traditional it took a lot of careful thinking to come to this conclusion. They wanted her to have something to do with a more girly craft, so they sent her to a master chef to learn to cook in a larger setting while leaving the farm to her brothers. Their family raised food for the hold too so it was the least the chef could do to try and mold their daughter. Later in her apprenticeship she was 'searched' by a dragon-rider while enjoying herself at a monthly Gather. Her master was surprised, but happy for her and wished her well on her candidacy.
Tila accepted the offer. She thought being a rider would expand her knowledge of her craft, and even help her family and all of Pern from the threat of thread. Plus it would get her out of the hold where she is frowned upon wanting to help with the more manly tasks than the feminine. She had always hated being treated like a weak little girl -- she heard that the Weyrs did not pay attention to gender. While her family did not like the idea of going into the Weyr, they let her go on her own choice.
Description:
Growing up in a family where livestock and produce maintenance are a daily chore, lifting heavy sacks of feed and weeding took a toll on Tilas body over the years. She is thin, but lean and strong. She also has a scar or two here or there from accidents around her parents farm. (One on her right shoulder, another few around her legs.) She can hold her own in a arm wrestling match, if you get what i mean. (unless its a man in her family. They tend to always win!) She has a slight tan on her body -- it used to be darker but lightened up as she spent more time in the kitchen and less time chasing herdbeasts.
Tila's long light brown hair is normally held back in a ponytail or a messy bun. She only takes it down while she sleeps normally, its full length reaching to a few inches past her shoulder tops.
Tila has bright blue eyes that normally get looks from her family -- it was more common to have brown eyes than blue.
Personality:
Tila learned to appreciate one thing when she was young, and that was the value of hard work. She is a hard working girl whom has no problem with getting her hands dirty. Living with four brothers she also has learned to be competitive, something that has helped her excel in the bakercraft apprenticeship. (you need to strive to be great!) Living with four brothers, and growing on a farm, caused her to be more tom boy than anything.
Tila sometimes has a hard time making friends. One of her greatest flaws is that she is brutally honest with you. She tells you how it is, and doesn't censor anything she tells you. She is kind and honest but will not sugar coat things. She is also a bit of a smart a** with words, usually meant to be joking sometimes it is actually her honest feelings.
That being said she is also very loyal to those friends she does make. Having a small circle of them she has to cling to them and she treats them like the true treasures they are. Dont ever threaten those friends though, or you'll have tom boy Tila on your butt.
Tila also has issues with understanding something.... and that would be Feminine women things. Girly women confuse the heck out of her and why would they want to wear that itchy clothing? Why strut around like that like cattle prancing? Her tomboy side really shines through here - she will question them outright as to WHY they do such things!
Basically:
Shes sometimes overbearing, like people think shes brash in nature but underneath the layers people seem to put on her due to her honesty, she is a kind hearted soul whom treasures life and her friends/family. she enjoys to be hard at work though she enjoys cooldown times too. Loves nothing more than to be in the kitchen cooking things for others. Has pretty much no knowledge of girly things no matter what it is because she was raised around a bunch of men. She would much rather be out helping feed the animals and riding a horse than inside sewing
