Actually, old copies of all but one of the books of the Old Testament have been found, and the translation matches almost entirely with more modern copies we have today, which makes it quite clear that things haven't been added, at least not for the time span from which those were written and now.

This might not be totally related, but here's part of what actually convinced me that the Bible is real: There's actually an effort being made by people involved with things like Zeitgeist, Lucis Trust, the New World Order, and other things discussed in this guild to get people to NOT believe in Jesus, such as the Zeitgeist movie. I actually used to believe some of the claims made by those people myself, until I began learning about things like the New World Order, the Illuminati, and the actual origins of the New Age Movement/Theosophy/Zeitgeist, and I started noticing how close the prophecies of the Bible actually are to being fulfilled through these things. Then I found more information about what Zeitgeist and all of that really is - and research absolutely disproving every single claim they try to make about Christianity (and this is using historic data and such, not merely referencing Bible verses or anything like that).
Here are some videos, for example:

The videos you have presented are interesting... time for more research! catch you all later whee

Well actually king james was gay (homosexual) so if anything he was only allowed to rewrite the bible just because HE WAS a king so yea

but yea people are right about the bible helpin peoples lives thats because they choose to let it help them i mean if you think about it anyone can write storys of there lifes and have people touched by the story and be happy...but yall are also right about the bible counterdicing itself thats why i don't go by the bible i go by facts from the human eye and buryed evidence..simple as that cause if you think about it yall should ask yourselfs..

what would yall do if the human race found out one day that everything we believed in as far as the "higher power" goes was a damn lie? or what if the so called "god" that we was worshippin for all of mankind turned out to be somethin else? so yea thats why i just wait till death to descover my TRUTH SEEKING answer

The bible is not REAL.Why because it was hand written by a person that now one know. How did the bible come about it was a story.Bible is a story pass down from generation and every generation add something to it until some one copy it down.My fellow people the bible is a lie. That doesnt mean i believein god its just i dont believe a book made by man thats going to decide our fate.I refuse to believe.

This might be off topic but 2012 is a lie to its predicted by man that also know one knows.Tell you this in year 2012 something going happen something big goin take place in history should it be the end of the world or another clue that god have gave us.

The Bible is used to help guide people through confusing/tough times and whether or not you choose to believe the stories in the book, the situations are real and the possibilities of catastrophic and heroic events to occur are real.
About one of the realest things I've read in here.

I've done a ton of research after Zietgiest as well, and the 2nd Zietgiest movie even had hidden free mason symbols in it.

The bible is many, many books. Some are still in the popular versions, while others aren't. The King James version is the most accurate popular version. The Septuagint is one of four fairly accurate versions of the old testament. When I studied Hebrew they told me there were four ways to read any of the ancient texts. One of the versions had to do with wisdom, another with history, another with metaphysics, and so on. Here's a wiki quote:

  • Peshat, the plain (simple) or literal reading;
  • Remez, the allegorical reading through text's hint or allusion
  • Derash, the metaphorical reading through a (rabbinic sermon's) comparison/illustration (midrash)
  • Sod, the hidden meaning reading through text's secret or mystery (Kabbalah).

Realize this and then combine it with the fact that people take out parts and you get the gist.

its not about making what you want, it's about deciphering what's there. An accurate old testament would have to be four times larger than it actually is. Whenever I go about translating a text like that, I can only go so far before I have to stop to keep my sanity. It's like one of those Lovecraft novels.

i really think religion is irrelevant anyways. everyone has morals. and all religions have them. problem is that people who don't think there's a god can do whatever they want cause there's nothing after death. but still to create chaos will have consequences. which can impact there lifes.

i dont dwell on religion cause being raised in a funeral home i see its only a guide on death related things.

I'm pretty sure I posted this in another thread, but... The Bible by itself has no meaning. You build ideas about the what the Bible communicates, but those ideas are built from you and your interpretation of the Bible. Any meaning that the Bible had that was intended by the authors, is now lost. It may be regained but our certainty of the accuracy of the claim to regained authors intended meaning is lost, possibly for ever.

It helps people. Great. It causes wars. Great. Overall, it's like everything true these days: a good and bad invention.
